I marathoned the series a few days ago after all the hype and I have to say, he and Inosuke are the most obnoxious, most worthless secondary protagonists I have ever come across. I started skipping through their scenes just because of how tired I was of all the pointless yelling.

finally find tolerable, watchable shounen garbage for a change and i'm willing and eager to give it a chance and then this screamo faggot appears
why do they do this, on the rare occasion MC isn't the designated screeching, crying doormat character, they find a way put one in anyway

Zenitsu is insufferable but I have liked Inosuke's internal monologue so far. I was expecting the usual pseudo-asspull and instead he gets mad because the fight is making him use his brain and he counters by hitting things harder. It's well in character the VA's doing a great job. RIP his throat.

people dont seem to realize that they took basically every shonen protagonist and divided him up into 3 core aspects and gave each aspect their own character. tanjiro is the moral straight-edge good guy aspect. inosuke is the "im gonna be the strongest hero/hokage/pirate/wizard-king!" aspect. zenitsu is the cowardly unsure aspect.

in other shonen, the mc progresses all of these aspects of character growth himself at various times/intervals/arcs. in this, each character grows in regards to their own aspect, but all concurrently. tanjiro realizes that basically all demons are just tragic former humans so the morality isnt so black and white. inosuke comes to recognize his own weakness and appreciate people around him. zenitsu learns to man the fuck up and just DEAL with shit.

There was a couple of shitty scenes with them and random kids, but in forest arc they carry the show.
