They don't need to eat that many people to survive but they try to kill and eat as many as possible to gain more power. They don't need to kill massive amount of people to survive. Hand demon, for example, could survive by eating very few humans. Most demons kill to gain power which isn't that important. And you also have Hantengu, you can include Douma, who probably go to hell whether he becomes a demon or not.

i am at chapter 111, the story is going nowhere, the arcs keep repeating themselves with each arc being "lower/upper moon vs a pillar + tanjiro/sister/retard boar and virgin boy", with Tanjirou not being able to keep up and holding pillar back, sister saving his ass then go apeshit for a while only to be saved by tanjiro, then the fight just drags on with 200 back to back plot armor asspulls by the demon only to be defeated by a single asspull by tanjiro and pillar.

Tanjirou barely gets any character development between each arc and author constantly foreshadows his super duper secret stronk origins just to justify the asspulls he is planning later like "o my long forgotten memory" and "o my ancestor memory" and "o my combining breathing techniques somehow makes me stronger and is easier/less tiring to move than individually using them" and a shitload of other crap.

Is there any fucking point to this?
It was entertaining up to the spider family arc, then it just kept recycling the arc pattern and right as i was about to drop the manga i got baited into continuing by the strongest upper moon demon who is obviously related to Tanjirou.

Should i keep going on? does anything of value actually happen in the story or will i keep reading the same arc over and over with different faces and new asspulls? This is worse than reading the TYBW arc of bleach at this point.

Nezuko becomes able to resist the sunlight, Tamayo finishes the medicine and they get dragged into the final battle after the leader of demon hunters explode himself. Also, after the pillar training arc, Tanjirou is now as strong as a Pillar and received a letter that might teach him how to properly use the dance of the fire god.

It took nothing away from Shinobu's death, as the very fact she was somehow shoehorned as one of Inosuke's precious memories was brought up out of nowhere, the impact of Shinobu's existence and eventual death was all properly related to Kanao, and Gotouge delivered on that front, Shinobu's death impacted Kanao greatly, it evolved her character, making her feel and show a new array of emotions.

Your gripe with Shinobu's death being "diminished" by the reveal about Inosuke's mother seems solely based on you wanting Shinobu to remain as Inosuke's only drive on killing Douma.

Yeah that’s exactly what I was trying to say, this entire arc has been the longest but it’s also been one of the more stimulating as we’ve switched from a few different fights already within one arc. I don’t really have a problem with there being such a loaded amount of events, it keeps the momentum pumping and the fights so far have kept me as interested as I always am reading this manga. I do think it would be nice to switch things up a little and bring in something new like, how another user said, letting the management side shine again though. Something completely outside of our expectations should and is bound to happen sooner or later
