What can we do to fix the isekai genre?
What can we do to fix the isekai genre?
It's fine as it is
Why do we need two simultaneous isekaigen threads?
Explore travel between two worlds more.
GATE is shit and it's still the best one to explore that trope.
Others are FUNA, lottery isekai and I fail to remember any others.
>stop making every single one of them a harem
>stop making every character that's not MC an idiot
>stop making every character that does what MC does be than worse than MC even though they've been doing it longer and MC just started
There, now they can rise above the 7/10 threshold.
Just make MC fuck his harem and sometimes fail spectacularly at his tasks, since you know writing smart character is impossible for average writer. About the "do it better than MC part" - there are usually unfair cheats from God involved.
18th century isekai, I will say it again.
I think RImuru might be my favorite isekai protagonist.
Just came to the realization, cant think of any other that I would rather have as a friend or brother.
Subaru is second I guess.
That's time travel.
The other one died just a bit ago.
Sorry, I'll expand.
Isekai into a european fantasy world in which, rather than being modeled on the social norms and technology level of the middle ages, it's modeled on the social norms and technology level of the eighteenth century.
Barry Lyndon with elves, in short.
>rather than being modeled on the social norms and technology level of the middle ages,
Has isekai melted your bain? There are maybe 5 anime in total that are actually modeled after the middle ages. And they are not isekai.
Fuck isekai, give me back fantasy shows
That's Dishonored and I think LOTM already did that.
I think what this pretentious faggot meant is that it's usually renaissance that is depicted in isekai.
Fantasy has never been big. But isn't some fantasy airing this very season?
What do you mean, "back"? What year are you longing for?
>no OP powers
>MC gets isekaied for a reason that is actually relevant to the plot, instead of just a shitty plot device
>people actually have believable goals and motivations, instead of simply lusting after the MC's cock forever while he ignores them
>no villains that kick puppies for fun
>no idiot that picks a fight with the MC in the adventurer's guild
>no chuuni [ skill names in brackets ]
>the natives are actually useful, instead of needing the MC and his harem to do everything for them
>MC doesn't use simple concepts like crop rotation or two handed wielding to amaze the natives
>no super powerful katanas that are powerful just because they are katanas
>japanese food is not amazing by default
>no ridiculous cafe that somehow manages to make a profit despite using top tier restaurant quality ingredients while selling at ridiculously low prices
>story arcs don't largely consist of the MC showing off "unintentionally" while girls get wet for him
>no "otome game villainess" plots where none of the characters are interesting and it's just about the MC living the luxurious life of a noble
>also no plots where the MC gets "banished" but still somehow manages to live a comfortable life as a "commoner" with zero issues and 10/10 handsome men knocking on her door regularly
More slave girls mi amigo.
Fantasy requires more effort in character development and worldbuilding for viewers/readers to be comfortable enough with self-inserting, compared to instant cup ramen isekai setting and protags fantasy just doesn't have anywhere near as much value for self-inserting.
Michio needs to find a way to expand his party or buy bunch of non-combat stay-at-home slaves. Oyakodon is on his list so maybe invite poor widow with a daughter from the slums or something.
Isekai is for manchildren (in there psychological, Carl Jung sense of the word). The symptom of wishing to be wrapped up and coddled by a new situation in a way that is beyond one's control is a symptom of a deeply rooted mother complex. Educate the lost generation of men in what it takes to self-actualize, and isekai fades into oblivion, replaced by a resurgence of traditional fantasy.
>wrapped up and coddled by a new situation in a way that is beyond one's control
If you call leaving this shitty world behind "wrapped and coddled and beyond control" then yes, because after isekai transfer most MC are very much in control of their lives.
Also
>educate X
not going to fly in modern globalization paradigm people need to stay only surface-deep educated for current economy to work.
>Dishonored
You're not talking about the game, are you? It seems more 19th century than 18th to me.
No fantasy setting is directly tied to a point in time, but the massive focus on guilds and archaic economic models depicted in isekai seem more medieval than enlightenment to me. Maybe I'm off base there and they're closer to the renaissance, but that's still two-to-four centuries before the eighteenth.
>traditional fantasy
They have steam paddlers and their guns are basically revolving flintlocks and most enemies fight with melee weapons.
Isekai about coming to terms with reality and setting achievable goals while experiencing constant failure and frustration but not leting it destabilize you mentally.
Like, reverse isekai where the chosen heroes of a fantasy world come to our world and have to get mid-level office jobs while they struggle to find affordable apartments.
Yeah, the steamboats were what made me think 19th century. The first successful commercial usage of a paddle steamer was in 1807,although there had been prototypes before then. Flintlocks are definitely 18th century, though, so they're obviously going for a mixed tech setting.
>There are maybe 5 anime in total that are actually modeled after the middle ages
Which ones?
That's retarded, nobody wants to watch something like this when they've gone through it every day themselves.
>Isekai about coming to terms with reality and setting achievable goals while experiencing constant failure and frustration but not leting it destabilize you mentally.
This sounds great!
>Like, reverse isekai where the chosen heroes of a fantasy world come to our world and have to get mid-level office jobs while they struggle to find affordable apartments.
Dropped immediately. How about we try and subvert the themes of isekai without throwing out all the aesthetic trappings that make it enjoyable?
>I’ll have two number 9 sufferings, a number 9 large tragedy, a number 6 cheating with extra NTR, a number 7 betrayal, two number 45s imprisonment, one with torture, and a large despair.
If I wanted to read this shit I'd write down my autobiography fuck off with your suffer fest isekai needs to lighten up if anything.
By not listening to Koreans in these threads.
Throw it all out and start again
Also Konosuba S3-7 when?
>No harem
>No wish fulfillment
>No overpowered cheating powers
>A normal MC who isn't edgy, whiny, or a pussy
>the massive focus on guilds and archaic economic models
Which function completely differently from the middle ages, you mean?
The guilds are guilds in name only.
The social norms are modern + overt racism + harems.
The architecture is clearly not medieval in any way. The weaponry is late-medievalish, but also antique and renaissance. The clothes are industrial without exception.
The weapons are pure fantasy.
We need to teach the youth how to survive.
Kafka isekai. It's about a NEET from this world who gets isekai'd into a surreal universe that's even more of a bureaucratic hellhole than this one, and he has to come to terms with the fact that his new life is just as impossible as the old one, except with no family-provided income to leech off of. People don't like him, but he can't understand why; he never knows how to properly comply with the omnipresent and highly complex protocols required for life; he has no skills that apply to this new world.
Slice of life isekai.
Maria the Virgin Witch and the currently airing Vinland Saga come to mind.
>no connections, no family or friends since isekai
>no skills valuable in renaissance isekai society except for hard manual labor
Congradulations you've made boring-ass "I died and became the city latrine pits cleaner!" isekai.
Survive what sould-gridning wageslavery? Isekai is how you survive it.
>just the tip
Alright, user. Isekai isn't medieval. It was bad word-choice on my part, and I didn't expect someone to crawl out of the woodwork to fucking nitpick the inaccuracies of J-fantasy.
The point is, I think an isekai in which the fantasy world is modeled on 18th century europe would be a change of pace and interesting. Do you have any thoughts on that, or would you like to continue obsessing over my poor use of the term middle ages?
That one MMO manga that was basically about therapy through MMOs was probably the best implementation of the isekai conceit I've ever seen. I can't remember the exact title.
The Wizard Knight is also very good non-anime isekai.
Marche was right buddy.
>I didn't expect someone to crawl out of the woodwork to fucking nitpick the inaccuracies of J-fantasy.
That's on you.
>Vinland Saga
That's more of a Dark Ages/Migration Period setting.
>no skills valuable in renaissance isekai society except for hard manual labor
Not him but you can make the MC not an overpowered demi-god but still have him have some useful skills. Like make the MC a fencing instructor so it makes sense for him to be good with melee weapons.
>Like make the MC a fencing instructor so it makes sense for him to be good with melee weapons.
It is still going to take some serious asspulls to get his nobody ass employed without identity, connections, family, friends etc. You do realize how important those were in world before modern communications and databases? Without cheats he would also don't know the language so initially MC will be penniless, unable to communicate, with zero contacts in society and zero prospect of jobs outside of very basic shitty ones.
This is sufferfag isekai so refer to
Hear me out here, what if the MC was empowered enough to get by, but not enough to be an unkillable cheat?
Sekkaku cheat, Slave Labyrinth. Michio is strong but like 10 Ducal Knights can take him and his party out. Overlord because Climb is MC.
>Vinland Saga
>dark ages / migration period
It's fucking beginning of the high middle ages.
You are talking about full blown isekai where the MC's body gets isekai'd with him. It's harder to write, most of the times authors go for reborn or reincarnated into a native body.
So a slightly younger unemployed body without identity, skills, common sense, money, family, connection, language knowledge?
That sounds much better!
>most of the times authors go for reborn or reincarnated into a native body.
You're factually wrong tensei isekai is not prevalent compared to regular isekai.
Also you're mixing up tensei and isekai.
Ascendance of a bookworm
It has dumb natives and superior modern knowledge though. That's worse than OP cheats. Also central MC survival magic cancer drama is only because she was also made unrealistically dumb, enough to miss immediately obvious solutions to her Maine problem.
>make OP unkillable cheat MC
>make him hang around shit tier town
>make him hang around shit tier people
>make him do shit tier quest
God I hate this so much
I'd do that too, why not? It keeps the heat out for as long as possible and still keeps you fed, clothed, fellated by slaifus and kept under a roof.
More mysticism less dumb expositions
More focus on journey
If the Mc wants to go home make the isekai actually worse than earth.
More focus on world building
Make the beastmen bad guys, make the church the good guys.
Don’t make yourself as the Mc and create the isekai as your own heaven.
To flesh out my 18th century isekai a bit more, here are some ideas.
The adventurers' guids that were once ubiquitous as a way of repelling monsters have vanished into the past, giving way to professional state militaries. Those warriors and mages who might once have turned their combat abilities to adventuring now join the army, and so national governments have far more power than they once did.
This in turn empowers the aristocracy, who control the ministerial positions in most kingdoms on the continent. With all power proceeding from the crown, these ministers are correspondingly powerful, and so great weight is attached to the intrigues and manipulations of the subtle creatures of the capital.
Into this setting comes the protagonist, empowered as one might expect by his reincarnation. He has the potential to be a living weapon, equal to the heroes of ancient myth. Even so, he isn't powerful enough to defy an army alone. Seeking to make use of his power, he soon finds himself embroiled in court intrigue, and so a NEET with no social skills must adapt quickly or become a pawn in someone's scheme.
>Don’t make yourself as the Mc and create the isekai as your own heaven.
What's the point in writing then?
>make the church the good guys
They exist, right? Isekai with church being good guy
Just farm isekai radishes lol
Overlord. They just wanted humanity to survive and prosper.
Unless the MC is a retard even with no connections he can find employment if he's a skilled swordsman. A sparring match is enough to demonstrate his skill. Only the language is an asspull but that's a problem in almost all isekai stories. I think you misunderstood me and possibly the original guy you replied. I'm not saying that the worlds should be completely realistic rather that they should avoid the cliches like an overpowered MC with cheats
Fucking farm/town development isekai.
I feel as though this entity may have malicious intentions.
Never been done right.
Her design forgives her many things.
A good design is useless to me if the waifu harbors naught but ill intent for me.
Series has 12/10 smug armpit loli who needs that hag anyway?
Aside from tasking MC with wrecking Hero shit - she didn't do anything malicious so far.
She just wants MC to assassinate a certain someone.
Could have both of those things done if it's a martial arts isekai. They tend to 'purify' their body or something, so they'd get upgraded from loserdom regardless.
No one wants to read about some wheezing unfit loser trying to survive with a bunch of magic gods flying around having all the fun. If the readers wanted to be disappointed, they'd look at their own lives.
>If the readers wanted to be disappointed, they'd look at their own lives.
I don't want to but I still am.
Just stop making it another self insert series.
This is the biggest problem with most sub par anime.
That's their biggest merit faggot why would you want less self-insert stuff not more?
Reverse isekai where princess mc’s is sent to another world and finds out her powers don’t work and as she grapples with our immoral late capitalist society she then finds out it’s because we killed our God 2000 years ago which retroactively destroyed the existence of magic which also means she’s she’s trapped here. She becomes completely demoralized and depressed and was about to kys herself but instead decides to try and find a way back at any cost.
Part 2. The journey to find a way back. Chases all sorts of leads: occultists, physicists, people who wind up being scam artists etc. Eventually starts to wonder if her memories of another world are delusions and if she’s just a crazy earthling. Discovers what a psychiatrist is and decides to go just to prove to herself that she’s not crazy; she gets institutionalized.
Part 3. Goes through a bunch of psychological themes, is on the verge of being cured when suddenly she learns from a fellow patient that the late capitalist society, the psychiatrists even the people who killed God are all from the same evil cult. Upon realizing this reality starts to shake and crumble away until all that’s left is darkness, but then, she sees a glimmer of light.
Part 4. The Mc opens her eyes and the glimmer of light she saw was actually coming from the chandelier in her bedroom back in her home world. She’s wasn’t isekai’d but was poisoned and she uses the lessons she learned in our world to deduce that there is an evil cult attempting to overthrow the kingdom. She stops them, and everyone lives happily every after.
There’s a lot of isekai s where the Mc was just dreaming and has character growth from their journey, it would be cool to see a reverse isekai with that premise.
>>Vinland Saga
>That's more of a Dark Ages/Migration Period setting.
Don't be silly.
Because I dont self insert. I want a good story with good characters, not a bland as OP beta fag that other beta fags self insert as.
Im not trying to say that im not a pathetic weeb myself, but im tired of the same old blank page that never get filled MC.
>what is Mc'Gee Alice
Also you're dreaming to improve yourself now how's that going for you? I bet you would wake up disappointed as fuck.
Well have you tired of capitalism mass low-quality production?
More Grimgar
More MCs jewing the new world
Fuck off despairfag.
wish there'd be a Futurama-like isekai
with aliens and space-travel
Purely a coincidence, user.
no shut up enjoy your swords and magic faggot
no cool sci-fi ships and alien races and planets allowed
That's just sci-fi.
I can't blame you she's a woman after all.
You don't. But I wanna see Rimuru kill 20k FILTHY NINGENs.
Most are ok. Naofumi is pretty bro too.
>>>Slave Harem
LN has a lot less H than the manga. A lot more SOL. Author didn't even go into the details of fucking the catgirl.
but imagine, it would solve the trouble of having an overpowered MC
>dude just plays mediocre D&D rip-offs set in medieval time
>thrown into sci-fi setting and has no fucking plan about anything
>'How the fuck do I pilot this space-ship?'
>'Did my handshake cause an intergalactic war?'
>'Can I eat this?'
it would force the MC to grow and it would actually be a challenge
I would be ok with the self inserting if it was more self aware.
If the MC was very powerful it’d get to his head and he’d be more arrogant than others of a similar power because he’d be proud of his newfound strength. he’d quickly settle down as a baron indulging in whatever was impossible back home (slaves, harems, adventuring, magic research etc.)
If the MC was all powerful he’d wind up punishing those “who deserve punishment” extremely disproportionately and eventually everyone would resent him.
Forgot to mention Bakarina. She'd be great too.
Pre or post-betrayal?
Sometimes I feel like the people who want to "fix isekai" would also hire professional writers to come up with the plots of porn movies, and then hire poets to write the dialogs.
That's not what the audience is here for.
>Sup guise
>I am MC-kun
>Just your average jap guy
>Like, average
>Like, relatable
>You know?
>20 mins in Isekai, niggers either went full psycho murderer edge or purchase a handful of slave harem consist of atleast one tittie monster and one loli
Getting real tired of this shit. I also fucking drop everything as soon as i heard the word "cheat"
I'm already living that, i don't need to watch it in anime form.
ban any isekai that have the word
>isekai
>harem
>cheat
>slave
>skill
in the title
I'm thinking more of post. He still gets along with L'Arc who's pretty bro himself.
I'm sure pre is bro too, but he seems more like BL fujo bait.
would love an Isekai in which the MC is sick and tired of the slave shit and just decides to go full blown terrorist/freedom fighter on the slave trade
>professional writer for porn, poets to write the dialogue
is that bad?
how can anyone get off to porn without a convoluted plot and flowery metaphors?
>woah it’s just like an RPG!
Those words in that exact order make for a title actually.
Porn is easy to write. You just have to repeat the word "Thrust" "moans" "pleasure" in as many different synonyms and metaphors as possible.
Its just intelectualizing *clap* *clap* *clap* *spurt* for 4 or so pages.
>I'm sure pre is bro too, but he seems more like BL fujo bait.
i can only imagine, or rather i don't need to.
I like it
So its basically autism simulator?
Not really, there is so much damn media so i just skip the most basic mass produced flavor of the month shit.
I just want to see some dude stick it in his sister's pooper, I don't want a nuanced story causing me to go introspective and question my life choices and end up feeling like a fucking creep who'd jerk off to other people's incest.
>I don't want a nuanced story causing me to go introspective and question my life choices and end up feeling like a fucking creep who'd jerk off to other people's incest.
kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it?
It kills the boner.
And your heart, but yes mostly the boner.
Kill the boner, save the soul
>porn is easy to write
yeah, if you want something cheap and easy
actual good porn is hard to write
it's the isekai authors that should be fixed
isekai but instead of it starting by a guy getting hit by a truck it’s a dog who gets hit and the dog isekai’s as a beastman in the other world.
As a world that has beastmen there’s of course slavery and the mc strives to change the world such that beastmen are loved as pets, not tortured as slaves, but he meets resistance by both hardline prideful beastmen and unsympathetic heartless humans. Story progresses with him using his experience from the previous life to show humans they ought to have pets and show the beastmen they can trust humans.
Tho seriously, what is hard about it? All you have to do is overemphasize everything material: Start with the room/environment, the scents and touch of fabrics, then go to the dresses, then go to undressing, then describe a lot of groaning and humping with occasional, out of the blue description of a scent or taste, and end with cuddling.
Banter and dialogue is harder to write than porn.
Write a porn paragraph for me to see. If it couldnt get my dick hard you failed and dishonored your ancestors
This one gets it. Though he forgot to mention to play on kinks
Sure, gaynigger. But to put some effort on your part, give me description of two characters and the setting.
2 maids in a masters bedroom suddenly getting distracted by each-other?
a chance encounter of a dryad by hero/rando?
Assasination of a witch/duchess gone horribly wrong/right?
Give me a theme faggot.
An user sees his sister masturbate.
Ok faggot, you got me. There is nothing interesting i can write about that without contempt leaking out with my wordings.
>Graverobbing goes south because coffin is actually a mimic,
>A bullied white goblin hermit and his loving human wife
>Holy Knight continuously challenges honorable dungeon minotaur and takes him home for eventual victory celebration
>Prison guard throws clot of tentacles (female) for prisoners to vent
>Villainess gets sold to the fat baron who's actually great in bed
>Centaur mercenary and his trusty elven archer rider
>Psyker struggles against Death Knight and locks them both in his mindscape, DK is female and loves every second of it
>Traveling sage turns cursed skeleton baroness into magical fuckdoll with some sense-sharing slime familiars and batwing hides on top
>A wounded basilisk gets adopted by incompetent healer girl, returns his twin lizard gratitude after growing up
>An orc princes is politically married to human prince who actually is a pig fetishist
>Sentient set of rapey tentacle armor is hopping from wearer to wearer
>A weary adventurers demands shelter from blizzard in frost giantess vagina
>Adventurer gifts [Enlarge Person] ring to his fairy companion
>Skinsuit artifact adventures (i think there's a doujin)
>Isekai fishing lewd mermaids onto your dick
>Graverobbing goes south because coffin is actually a mimic,
>mimic specifically buried itself to catch grave defilers, ends up defiling them
OUTSCHEMED
also holy shit i dont know how this will end, other than a fully traumatized graveyard keeper in the morning.
The freest man is the one who fearlessly embraces suffering for the sake of others. Those who never engage in the public space can never gain this strength. The Abe meme isn't just a joke.
>The freest man is the one who fearlessly embraces suffering for the sake of others
>sake of others
Welp, the american finally said that - slaving for the profits of your boss is the freest action possible for a man
Add more lolis; add more incest; add more rape; add more traps — done.
Its over Iskeaifags embrace the chink pill.
you gotta fix the readers for this
>"Stats" "Whoa, a stat screen really showed up! This is just like my bideo bames!"
Why are the nips so insistent on their RPG mechanics? Don't they realize things like levels, stats, and skills are abstractions and make no sense if they actually happened in reality? Bonus points of skill stealing cheat power which always end up with MC having so many skills the reader can't keep track of them and it essentially becomes a 'do anything' power.
Stop making it wish fulfillment garbage for a start.
There is literally nothing wrong with wish fulfillment. Only that uncreative hack writers just write a borefest of a story.
>wish fulfillment
All fantasy is.
Replace fantasy with all fiction and you're good.
It won't be fixed softly. The genre needs its Evangelion or its Madoka to evolve again.
Have MC have sex with main girl which end up being a disaster and have the main girl trying to make him feel better that he'll improve the next time, which actually made him feel even worse and interpreted that the main girl is not pure
I would but then I remembered stuff like I have no Mouth but I must Scream exists, unless you self-insert as the girl.
Just read yondome mage and choke on toothbrush sharing man
somewhat depends if you're talking about the book or the game, but both contain the fantasy of finding a way to fuck over an entity of seemingly absolute power, that even if all hope is lost rebellion is still possible and meaningful
Quiet down tripfag your opinion matters not
Just revert back to straight up fantasy without the convenient insta-OP from another world element.
>B-but muh self insert beta MC
Yes I miss those infodumps for 3 first chapters to get the worldbuilding going somehow and literal who MC being completely unrelatable and only fleshed out five volumes into the series. Those were the times!
Meanwhile on TNE
-CT and Nayun discuss the 'return emotions to Chae Joochul' plan
-It involves stealing anti-side effect medicine from Essential Pharmacy
-Nayun seems to remember that she owes something to 'that man' but when she tries to remember who he is her head hurts a lot
-She tries to meditate and remember anyway
-Kim Sukho sends an assassination request to Creator's Sacred Grace: they get huge benefits but they have to kill CT members
-Kim Suho pretends to think it over and walks away for now
-Hajin thinks about how to use his medicinal memory physique and sends his resume to Essential Pharmacy which is rejected since he pretty much has no profile education.
-Hajin thinks about traveling around the world, eat rare herbs to utilize his physique and packs up.
Yes I love those basic rpg game worlds being basic and literal beta MC being completely over powered and still a beta five volumes into the series.
These are the times!
>Slave Labyrinth
>Lvl2 Cheat
>Jobless Isekai
>Log Hero
>Black Summoner
>Sekkaku Cheat
Not in my isekai they're not.
But you see how easy it is to just dismiss everything with a shitty straw man.
But you see how majority of works in any genre is bland shit, including fantasy.
No need, the perfect isekai already exist
>revert back to straight up fantasy
Japan has never been big on straight fantasy, and they are still producing some.
You're acting like isekai took the place of fantasy when in reality it took the place of A Magical Girl Dropped Out of The Sky And Now I Have A Harem.
I just want a stranger in a strange world story.
Self-insert, RPG mechanics, etc., none of these are problems by themselves. It all goes down to the capacity of a writer to utilize those concepts to their full potential, or at least even some of their potential.
Also, you people really suck at life if you think that realistically, without any cheat skills or riches you won't be able to find yourself a decent place in medieval life.
How many medieval life-skills do you have?
Because a literal who MC suddenly being OP as fuck and a pussy magnet for no reason other than them being from another world is so much more fleshed out.
This, Alfred the great been dead for at least a hundred years.
3
Pharmacist in another world.
And you think you can manage life in a little hut with no modern tools at your disposal and call it decent?
>Berserk
>Souls series
>90% of JRPG's
Just seems to be anime where they're lacking.
I'm decently fit, can read, write, do basic math. Even if I had complete amnesia on everything else I know, that would be enough for me to easily get to a decent spot on the social ladder.
>>Berserk
You can do better than a decades old manga that never gets updated.
I didn't say there's nothing. I said that it's not a big portion of their output.
% of JRPG's
Those are basically the same as the isekai. So either you count neither or both.
>Just seems to be anime where they're lacking.
Some are airing right now.
Have non japanese be isekai'd so its not a turbo autism MUH baths, muh rice and muh mayo.
Let me have some more like the Putin isekai where the mans goals are manly and pure.
>I'm decently fit, can read, write, do basic math.
So, I'm counting 1.
>decently fit
>to easily get to a decent spot on the social ladder
Oh, you can read and write in Latin in old-style script?
Different user, i'd just become a monk honestly.
I don't think the majority of Yea Forums would call that a decent living.
It would be in a medieval setting. Ever seen a skinny medieval monk?
Well yes. This is why I dont watch currently airing shows. Instead I filter and watch what is worth it instead of watching another generic isekai/harem/fantasy/mecha etc etc show.
The exception is adaptations of things I have read, or follow up seasons.
I didn't call it a bad living. I'm just saying that the amount of work and devotion that monks were expected to show (in good cloisters) goes beyond what most anons would be willing to deliver.
>the chosen heroes of a fantasy world come to our world and have to get mid-level office jobs while they struggle to find affordable apartments.
That's just Devil is a Part Timer. And more recently, Jahy-sama.
What conflicts or events within an Isekai story have you genuinely liked?
What about the conflict or event did you like?
I want to say something from MT, but I read it so long ago I don't remember the specifics
also, I just realized that Bleach is technically Isekai
First of all, don't be a bitch, let's start with the language being entirely foreign. Toll away on some farm for a couple of years, learn the ropes. You aren't stupid and you know how motivated you would be not to be lazy.
>MT
MC relaxed and fucked around while his father gritted his teeth and bones to dust running around trying to find and save their family.
>JK Haru
Loser protag stayed loser even with cheats in isekai and that was his downfall.
>Overlord
Man vs responsibility and expectations.
>Werewolf
MC having conscience and kindness leading ruthless army of literal Demon Lord.
What do Yea Forums think of El Hazard?
>What conflicts or events within an Isekai story have you genuinely liked?
Something about a filthy non-virgin girl finally taking up residence inside a dragon's belly.
>he doesnt fuck any of his girls
Once the cult is gone he is going to end up like Lyle, chased and raped by his harem.
>Toll away on some farm for a couple of years,
So, again, how many medieval live-skills do you have? Do you know trivial shit how to clean your dishes in the absence of soap or do you know how to make soap?
Do you know how to work a field with medieval tools and how to maintain these tools? Do you know what sorts of herbs to enrich your meals with?
There are many other things that you would need to know. Do you know them?
Remove male protagonists.
>some kind of power ceiling and clear restrictions from the early chapters on. "Mundane" should have a proper reason why it can still exist amongst supernatural and fantastical forces. >MC still cares about the world he left behind (and has a bunch of personal reasons for whether he does or not). >MC should absolutely NEVER have some kind of setting-specific power or advantagous start that would just break the power systems in the setting. (unless it works a lot with how MC changes up the world dynamics and how everyone deals with that, essentially passing around MC status between a bunch of characters). >MC's supporting cast should be able to stand on their own as characters, they should have purpose, usefulness, goals and means of their own, ideally some things that they strictly cannot rely on MC for. >MC is not the only competent character around. there should be others that are equals to him. >If the MC gets swarmed by anime tiddies just because, it better be in some redlight establishment or where he has an actual realistic chance of getting pussy. >No niceguy MC that does things because he's simply nice, he should come with own faults, ideals and resolve to do things, whether it's benevolent or selfish. >at least a little research into the era that is being written about, and putting some thought into how the fantastical elements change things up on a day-to-day scale.
Kingdom building aspects of realist hero and release that witch.
>What can we do to fix the isekai genre?
Quality over Quantity. Japan likes to serialize the same fucking type of isekai every few months. A few months ago it was all about that, I WAS REINCARNATED INTO MY OTAKU GAME? and now its all I JUST WANT TO LIVE A SLOW LIFE!
The amount of fucking isekai's with the word slow life in it is making me sick. This shit needs to be vetted before being made into a manga or LN. For the love of god keep it in WN form.
The Devil is a Part Timer. Its kino as fuck.
Most of those points are in MT
Then it turns into sappy shit with the female MC just wanting to eat sweets and be cuddled 24/7 by a guy with a chin sharper then the Holy Sword Excalibur.
The best things in Isekai are misunderstandings that escalate hugely, but ultimately resolve without great tragedy
As it is my hobby, I know how to survive in the wilderness without anything. But let's not bring into this discussion the things I can do, plants and tools will be different in another world anyway. But you know what's the thing about everything you listed? Those are things you can learn. Start from nothing and work hard, the only way is up. You are trying to present those basic actions as something impossible, but they are far from it. Will it be hard at the start? Yeah, but so what?
I wouldn't say millions of dead elves are a tragedy.
>Start from nothing and work hard
Not him but you wrongly presume that "starting from nothing" would be as easy in medieval fantasy world as it is IRL in first world country.
You'd be nobody in isekai: no language skills, no family, no friends, no connections, no identity, no lodging, no money.
>Those are things you can learn.
Just like everything else. Except you are 20 years behind and without property or helpers, and on top of that you will never forget the simple bliss of having a flush toilet, or a fridge.
I don't see where you imagine your "decent life" to be, barring cheats.
>stop making every single one of them a harem
Newfags need to stop calling every series that has more than one female a harem. Most of the isekai shit that comes out today has little to no harem. At best it's "female character has feeling for MC but MC is an oblivious faggot" or at worst "MC is only attracted to one female but strings along a dozen others."
True harems are rare nowadays.
How about Isekai where Elves aren't slaves and are actually powerful magicians etc etc and isekai mc leads human resitance to free fellow human slaves.
I am pretty sure that predates every story where elves are slaves, those tree-hugging snobs are a fucking menace and deserve to be shackled.
>MC is not all powerful
>other members of his party are useful and contribute in many ways beyond simply being a class the MC isn't
>MC has to actually try romantically rather than the girl he likes falling in his lap
>it takes effort for the MC to grow stronger.
>no slaves
>if they become an adventurer there must be tangible benefits and it should require them to do things they'd rather not be it simply grinding low level quest to subjugating an uppity beastkin tribe
I wouldn't read a chapter of this shit with prior knowledge. If I wanted to read about struggle I'd read my autobiography or some dumb seinen. Slow-life isekai are best isekai and best thing happened to the medium in dozens of years. Cry me a river faggots I don't care what you think of my taste.
Skyrim anime when, fuck the Thalmor.
That's just the plot of Alessa from elder scrolls oblivion as well kek.
>Slow-life isekai are best isekai
You can slave and plot at the same time. The point is that it's important to take risks. Isekai is fundamentally a risk insulator.
The only think wageslave can plot is his weekend sleep once a month.
which isekai is this it looks familiar
Wow I wonder how will MC asspull a cure to this disease this time
It looks familiar because it's you.
pretty sure I haven't changed race and job recently
I've seen this idea on another thread before so props whoever came with it.
We need a Isekai manga/novel about one guy(or maybe a squad full of different op powers, having a bigger cast instead of focusing on one nigger makes thing more interesting) going around different Isekai settings and beating the fuck out of all different Isekai MC stereotypes and then sending them back to their boring ordinary lives where they fucking belong. And then maybe giving us a glimpse of how all these ordinary hobos are coping with their ordinary lives again, have some of them use this experience to develop into real characters while some others end up being mindbroken because they're utter shit in doing anything that isn't conveniently handed down on a plate to them).
It's the ultimate wish fullfillment story about people who want poorly written wish fullfillment stories to crash and burn in hell forever.
Lol he just needs to come over and stay a night near hospital.
hoomans are stronk
and is this gang of anti-isekai guys composed of isekaid guys
read the ln
This.
Imagine an MC who actually goes adventuring, not 'I Cast NOT!Zoom because this isn't DQ I swear' and appear wherever they want.
Imagine them actually finding and learning to use the ancient weapons they find properly instead of 'I've got super weapon now, I instantly destroy everything'
Imagine actually learning about the individual cultures and respecting them not 'Hurr dumb savages learn some grorious Nippon imperialism and broken morals'
If it's not DQ he needs some serious /out/ and /k/ skills to survive the adventure, ain't happening for average self-inserting reader.
Yeah, but the twist is that they're all people who had their lives ruined by Isekai MCs.
in DQ you start out pretty damn weak and it takes a while to learn the convenient and/or powerful spells so whilst they might use it as a base they're abandoning key aspects. For example the Hero in 11 wouldn't have gotten very far if he jsut popped up in a field with nothing but the clothes on his back and his starting MP
I too sometimes dream of what I call back-end tuning. Without actually touching the overall appearance of the general isekai plot, putting some effort into exploring the finer details of it.
But it's not a very rewarding outlet for one's skill as a writer, so I don't expect many people to do it.
Yeah and beginner town only has horned rabbits and slimes. You go out in IRL Taiga you can meet a bear or a pack of wolves.
>Imagine actually learning about the individual cultures and respecting them not 'Hurr dumb savages learn some grorious Nippon imperialism and broken morals'
You could always read Heterogenia Linguistico if you think a manga solely about learning customs and traditions of monster in a fantasy setting sounds interesting.
more traps
The most important aspect is that in rpgs if you keep whacking the same shit over and over again, eventually you're gonna be able to 1v1 rock giants. In real life if you keep whacking the same thing over and over again it's just gonna give you some fractures and severe arm/back pain.
if you're wiling to waste time. Not everyone is Immortal like Slime Witch
IRL hunters learn how to track or take down prey easier but stats don't increase much, yes.
Which is why good base /fit/ stats and decent /out/ training are important if you want isekai without game elements and cheats.
And it's a shitty self-insert for readers.
>in rpgs if you keep whacking the same shit over and over again, eventually you're gonna be able to 1v1 rock giants.
Plenty of RPGs have a barrier around that. In PnP it's pretty simple to enforce as your master just tells you he's not going to reward you any XP for that shit.
In CRPGs there are also several ways to do it. Here are two examples.
1. Can't get XP for enemies weaker than you.
2. Get full XP on the first encounter of a particular monster type, get 1 XP per encounter after that.
>get 1 XP per encounter after that.
I see that as an absolute win.
So that if this one gets hit by a trick, we can go to the other one.
In Another Thread With My Shitposters
Manga adaptation, coming soon~
Killing 10000 people in a battle still counts as a single encounter.
By creating penicillin.
Fine I just have to set up contraption where they are separated into small groups and slaughtered. Oh wait
Personally I strongly dislike protagonists who are perfect in almost every way. You know, the typical overpowered generic pretty boy/girl. I would love to see more mature protagonists who can be introspective and cynical at times but without getting all edgy and dark. Preferrably a protagonist who also has a sense of humor and who doesn't act all dense and pure about the world and the people in it. Unfortunately, I rarely see stories who fit those criteria.
>and with a wicked sense of humor!
You need to understand all those before writing a character like this.
He can't enslave someone if they are too young, and trusting someone enough to let them work without that first doesn't seem likely for him. Maybe if the widow is sold into slavery to him with the promise any money goes toward her daughter who gets to live there too. He maintains enough control through the mother, and just needs to convince the daughter to get in the bath and bed with him. Possibly before the mother's turn or she finds out.
You forgot:
>MC who doesn't act like a dense virgin sperg when it comes to the opposite sex.
>maintains control over daughter through the mother
>maintains control over mother through the daughter
BUENO
>In another world with a harem of slaves thanks to my cheat skill?!
Purge all traces of MMORPGs from the narrative and world building. And I don't just mean stats and level ups, get rid of the "adventurer's guild" along with formal questing and rankings. Also no generic "demon lord"
The twist: The protagonist is gay but his cheat skill doesn't work on guys.
Sauce?
>15 y/o daughter
>30 y/o mom
I see no issue here.
>another isekai bait thread
By killing yourself and stop making garbage threads retard.
The mother's control would also be through the slave status, and hopefully owning the mother would be enough for Michio's paranoia about the daughter. Or maybe twin daughters? The only other possibility might be something like inheriting slaves if any were too young to sell. I don't know how his harem would react to any desire to aim younger than them. If flat enough, Sherry might be fine with it.
Those ages could be lower there are just more limited options for acquiring them since getting one pregnant and waiting years would need far too much time passing.
love how senpais sneakily trying to pet the puss
Make overlord but better

What happened to you in life that made you enjoy posting sourceless manga crops on Cambodian roof-thatching forum?
Didn't western porn movies start selling their parodies without the porn parts because the scriptwriting and costumes were better than the media they were parodying a few years ago?
Which manga is this breast envy loli from?
Just life.
Don't engage that faggot: if you see manga crop or raw just ignore and hide that post. He's just sad pathetic sack of shit that wants people to talk to him even if it's just "Sauce?" (you)s.

I work as a healer in another world's labyrinth city
What a nice title.
>non-Japanese male MC
>No ''adventurers guilds''... For fucks sake a Kingdom might regulate mercenaries and call it ''Royal expedition office''
>No E to SSS ranks
>No stats
>No easy magic
>No smooth journey... MC needs to actually scheme
This is why Chink Wuxia stories are getting more popular even if they can be just as dumb.
Part 3 is pretty redpilled.
Source user. Don't be a fag.
Use saucenao. Don't be a fag.
So how about getting bestowed with a top fit body (not superhuman just their own body in top condition) and some background in a trade that would be useful like stone mason, carpenter or locksmith.
Provided you have the skills to go live inawoods it would be easier to live in a medieval fantasy world than it would be to live in the modern world. The only thing you'd have to fear is wildlife and the local lord stumbling upon your domicile by per chance. In the modern world you can't even life inawoods without the feds kicking you out and telling you to go be a good wagie.
Not a problem if you legally own the woods.
I love the MC in that manga. Dude is so done with everyone's shit.
>that time I died, woke up in a medieval fantasy setting, and spent the rest of my days hitting stones with a pointy piece of metal
Actually i prefer my porn to have non-retarded dialogue or to go full parody.
>what is taxation
Its theft and a violation of the NAP
>My loins appear to be under a sudden spell of autolocomotion
the tropes aren't bad it's that people either use to many tropes at the surface level or try and do parody without understanding them. Lean into things if you're going to do them. Kumo Desu Ga is a good example of a monster becoming a human and Sword Dad is a good example of guilds being used well
Local lords would tax you for hunting their forests.
>I was bullied online so I never left the house until I got reincarnated in another world with a cheat skill
The adventurer's guild is bad, user. It cuts out the need for the party to actually meet people, see the dilemma, and actually be involved with helping with the quest. The adventurer's guild cuts that out, and you know that since MC is on quests killing slime then he is small time or if he is killing dragons then he is big time.
but do you think a world of swords and fantasy would leave people who can kill dragons completely unmonitored and unregulated and would try to keep them under control by giving them influence, money and acclaim without them having to take those by force
adventurer's guild can be used well though. try thinking of it as a mercenary company and there are rival merc companies in each city each with their own MO
They'd be under the control of the king or a similar imposing figure. The kind of control that an adventurers' guild enacts on its S ranks is minimal.
Only if they know of your presence, which is much less likely in medieval fantasy than IRL.
Holy Christ, where is your enter key?
>try thinking of it as a mercenary company
Sure, merc companies can work. But that's very different from adventurer's guilds.
And it was great. We need more isekai like MT.
>I wouldn't say millions of dead elves are a tragedy.
Yep. That's just a statistic.
While what you are saying is strictly true, I suspect you underestimate how well-populated Europe was. It was nothing like the USA.
i mean most isekai's essentially treat adventurer guilds like PMCs anyway people post jobs and the murder hobos get to murdering
A mercenary company is not a adventurer's guild, and honestly that is a better start.
Plenty of fantasy stories do this without the need of an adventurer's guild. Just look at Records of Lodoss War.
You couldn't permanently live the woods in a sngle location without being found. You would need to be moving about.
You do know that masons were well paid and were the along with carpenters the architects of their era.
>Some Yugoshit stone mason gets TruckeD
>After finding him self in small-town shank-town he slowly does manual labor and learns the language from waving his hands around to being fluent within a few months
>Meanwhile has to survive the ordeals set up by the local thugs with plenty of beatdowns
>Starts construction company capitalizing on the post-war market and goes full Tycoon
>Must learn to be a mob boss to survive and advance further
>Discovers magic is real only a decade later
Tell me you wouldn't watch it.
under the King just makes him part of his guard or his military power which seems like a far worse deal than most if not all Adventure Guilds which don't make it mandatory for you to act in defence of your king or nation
>Tell me you wouldn't watch it.
You didn't mention any lolis.
>i mean most isekai's essentially treat adventurer guilds like PMCs anyway people post jobs and the murder hobos get to murdering
No, they treat them as a staffing agency. But instead of finding jobs, they find you monsters to kill. It's hardly like an army that is being mobilized or anything. People can literally come and go as they please.
>under the King just makes him part of his guard or his military power which seems like a far worse deal
Only until you realize that so long as he's directly under the king's control and not running around the forest, he's not being recruited by one of the king's many enemies and sent to the castle with an assassination order.
>no slaves
Why do you assholes always point out slavery as a problem? What if I want an isekai that challenges the protagonist and still has slavery?
Maybe slaves just don't play a role of empowering him, maybe he even becomes a slave. There's no reason it can't be done well.
Proper authors, not the amateur novelist's first story kind we have right now. That way we could have Other storylines than guy gets handed free stuff so he can bulldoze his way through anything or muh nipponese superior cooking.
tfw no isekai about mc being a guild receptionist and playing adventurer manager by assigning the right tasks to the right adventurers where making the wrong decision gets people killed.
Without passive beta MCs they would be okay.
Tropes like evil churches and hero summoning are just annoying.
Those methods are shit tier, what is god tier is absorbing the essence of what you killed to strengthen yourself.
Killing a slime gives you 1/10000th of a slimes strength.
Killing a wolf gives you 1/1000th of a wolfs strength.
Killing a Dragon gives you 1/10th of a dragons strength.
Bonus: Killing a Human gives you 1/10th of a humans strength but comes at a cost.
we don't want it because it's not treated with any kind of seriousness whether the MC is made a slave, takes slaves or frees slaves
There are isekai about guild receptionists.
HE JUST WANTS TO PET CATS, WHY ARE THEY SO MISUNDERSTANDING OF SENPAI?
examples
we should make reverse isekai where elves and goblins get teleported to our world and fat ear elf thots try to adventure through Compton at night and dumb no pantsu water goddesses blunder into the holy cities of Mecca and Medina and have to fight off the entire Saudi Religious police and it ends up with somebody casting explosion on that cube thing
Short hair ruins cutes girls
It's called Cop Craft. Except the not!Elves are the 13 percent doing more than 50% of the crine.
>Killing a Human gives
Oh no user, if you kill you'll be just like them
>You couldn't permanently live the woods in a sngle location without being found. You would need to be moving about.
Even ignoring the presence of others that would be in your best interest anyways.
>if you kill you'll be just like them
That's what he said. You are absorbing their essence.
So the more dragons you kill, the more dragon essence you have, finally resulting in you visually taking on a more draconic form. So you need to kill a bunch of humans to raise your human essence level to remain sort of humanish.
I’m thinking more like Goblin Slayer gets teleported to Jerusalem resulting in a series of unfortunate cases of mistaken identity involving nose length
Because in 99% of the slave isekai they exist solely so the mc doesn't even have to have girls just fall in his lap like they used to in harems--now he can literally just buy them. At which point he treats then as freedmen in all but name, making you wonder why the fuck the slave element even exists. If the mc's freed their slaves, literally nothing would change. They're more like indentured servants than actual slaves.
Nevermind that having Roman-style slavery (I've never seen an isekai with chattel slavery, probably got obvious reasons) in the middle of this 1500's fantasy world, especially when magic often would obviate the need for them entirely, is borderline silly. Plus no person raised in the modern first world would nonchalantly buy a person.
But fuck it I like Jobless Cheat so maybe I'm just a hypocritical bitch.
Honestly I hate chink writing tropes even more than jap ones. The names are horrid, too.
And the art! Dear god, why can't they try to emulate an anime art style?
I wouldn't watch it. Sounds boring as hell.
How dare you insult Fung Jei Won Sun, the Illustrious Gilded Pheonix of the Final Flaming Fist?! Are you courting death?!
>And the art
Art? What art? What have you been reading?
By that logic, we should eliminate isekai altogether, or even anime as a whole.
Yes, most of it is written poorly, but it has the potential to be a great story element if handled well, and I'd hate to see it thrown out.
I have the perfect way to fix the genre. A series where everyone has small genitals and boobs and has to kill monsters to get them up to an acceptable size.
If you kill to much your genitals fall off and become the monsters.
This way they could pull the average Yea Forums user or asian into the world.
Klein new fighting style as half-god is pretty damn cool. He became a one-man army.
You're right, it is a major problem that protects treat their slaves so well. I'd love a series where the MC really goes off the rails with arrogance towards her after buying a slave, but those are unfortunately lacking.
Chattel slavery would be another great addition, now that I think about it. Consider a setting in which MC gets isekai'd as an elf and thinks it's terrible at first (because he wants to retain his generic jap appearance, and has lost it) only to discover that humans and beastfolk are chattel slaves, and the only reason he's free is his new elf body. You'd want to throw in a weak level of reincarnation powers for this one, of course.
At least this is original.
Ask yourself the opposite question. If you can slay dragons, why do you even take orders from a random receptionist?
>Are you courting death?!
I would have to be, in chinkshit. You never stop courting death.
>tfw no xianxia novel where death is a hot girl and mc courts her
Just imagine the banter from that alone.
>Why do you assholes always point out slavery as a problem?
Because it is evil and goes against human's nature to strive for freedom and equality.
so a xianxia Thanos?
>reading so much isekai that your mind breaks and you read chink shit
Teleport him to WW2 Germany, it's funnier. He will become a SS officer and eventually have to defend himself in Nuremberg.
Equality is a lie. Some people deserved to be slaves
Isekai will never amount to anything simply because at it's base, it's not required to do so. 3/4 of its' audience reads it to satisfy their wish fulfillment quotas, while the other quarter are composed of pseudo-intellectuals who think they could do better, or that isekai hasn't reached its' full potential, but never puts in any effort to change it either.
Any creative works that get released in isekai gets shunned/ignored by its' demographic, and the ones which manages to stay afloat pretty soon becomes the very garbage it seeks to differentiate from to pander to its' wider audience. In the end, it just comes back to the same tired argument of where the money is at. People who reads isekai comes in knowing that they want to turn their brains off. No one expects a masterpiece to come out of isekai because that's not what the industry demands.
The sooner you come to terms with this, the less frustrated you will be. There are plenty of other forms of literature to satisfy your intellectual urges.
you are like a little baby
I went a round from isekai to chink shits, and now back to nip isekai
Like who? What if other people think YOU should be the slave?
By having the mc romance the demon lord.
Go back to wherever you came from.
Marche did nothing wrong
Dunno about that but can you not see the potential? If death was a hot girl and naive and innocent on top of that, and the MC was possessive as typical xianxia chink MCs are, MC would be loathe to kill his enemies because doing so would mean they get to meet death, whom they would fall in love with at first sight because she'd obviously be even more jaw dropping than the nation destroying beauties given that she technically destroys all as death. Power and beauty are always related in xianxia, at least when it comes to girls.
And so you'd have these enemies who curse the MC like crazy but upon entering the yellow river meet death and basically do a 180 and wished they died earlier and start hitting on death, and then MC has to go to the underworld and beat these people up again and hurry them along the reincarnation cycle. He'd have to think up ways to make sure his enemies don't die but suffer all the same and he'd appear to be a complete weirdo in his world since nobody but a select few would know of death.
huh?
>DER ONLY GÜTEN JUDEN
>IST DER JUDEN DAS NICHT KOMMEN OUTEN DEREN STINKENHÖLLEN
this could work
That looks pretty based
>Yandere girl stalk the boy she likes as a regular routine
>suddenly boy gets truck'd and died
>Yandere in a fit of rage chased after the truck that kill the boy and suddenly got killed by another truck
>in the afterlife before the pearly gates of heaven 'god' told Yandere that the boy got isekai'd to another world
>unfortunately for the yandere the atrocities she committed when she was alive was unforgivable and was 'isekai'd' to hell to suffer for all eternity
>in hell, the Yandere cannot be contained and wreaked havoc, destruction and chaos and nobody there can stop her
>eventually broke out of hell and cause chaos and destruction in the afterlife and then heaven
>threatened and tortured 'god' to send her to isekai world where the boy she loves is at
>'god' gives in and sent her to the isekai world
>once in the isekai world she learned that the boy is a Hero sent to defeat the Demon King
>Yandere traveled to the demon territory and raise hell there eventually slaying the Demon King
>news traveled fast that the Demon King was dead before Hero Boy could face him and humanity mocked him for it. (also a rumor was also spread that hero hired an assassin to kill the Demon King because he too scared to face him) The Boy was banished from the Kingdom in shame.
>this greatly angers Yandere, takes up the mantle as the new Demon Queen and leads the demon army to declare war on humanity for mocking the Boy she loves.
>The war between demon races and humanity starts anew
>Meanwhile, realizing the threat Yandere poses to the whatever realm she's at for the sake of her twisted love, Satan and God buried they eternal long grudges with each other and form an alliance between heaven and hell
>the entire forces of heaven and hell arrive in the isekai world to aid humanity and declare war on the Yandere in order to erase her from existence permanently
but what happens to the boi?
Chained on the bed with special magic seals to make sure he is as weak as a baby and is unable to escape.

Move production to the west
Japan has repeatedly shown they can't make good isekai while Western writers have a bunch of classic isekai tales.
I'll do you one even better: a sci-fi isekai that's like Warhammer40k
I know that feel. Considering just saying fuck it and being a UPS driver these days. They make good money and have medical/dental bennies.
Don't kid yourself this fight is lame.
>protagonist dies and gets isekaied to the warhammer world
>is immediately brutally mutilated and dies an agonizing death strangled by his own everted lung
>gets isekaied back to the real world
>crawls out from under the truck and goes home
these
Traps are gay
IT DOESN'T NEED FIXING
if this was the usual attempt to start an actual isekai thread I'm sorry
Fuck off
it was fun when I was young
now, not so much
still better than an average isekai novel though
It's not a problem of male protagonists, it's a problem of side characters being written only to praise the self-insert MC or to jump on his cock immediately on sight.
>Move production to the west
>No harems no slaves no lolis no racism no nothing
>Black lesbians are main cast
>#1 plot is dethroning tyrant to install gay marriage
Yeah fuck off.
Because it's as overdone as fuck, and it's lazy writing to introduce parts of the MC's harem.
>1984, but via magic in an isekai
I need this
Is the Lich surnamed Xi?
>No harems
Sounds like an improvement already
The west has beloved classics like Alice's adventures in wonderland + through the looking glass and what Alice found there, a conneticet Yankee in King Arthur's Court and the lion the witch and the wardrobe (I have only read the first two books in the series so I am unsure if the later ones are also isekai) as well as more contemporary tales like the black Knight or
>If death was a hot girl and naive and innocent on top of that, and the MC was possessive as typical xianxia chink MCs are, MC would be loathe to kill his enemies because doing so would mean they get to meet death
I love it, the plot device for the Mc is his unwillingness to kill and that’s driven by a personality trait which people are ambivalent about, not a purely good or bad one.
Sword dad says hi
*Black Knight or tron
Meanwhile japs have what? Digimon and nothing else that is remotely good.
>Yea Forums: we wuz isekai
Man you know white people have turned into mutts when even on an intellectual level they start acting like nignogs. The worst part is you've been doing this for almost 5 years now.
Yah but u get to just watch it on Netflix which makes it 10x better. Nothing better than coming home after a long day of work and just sitting in front of the tv watching ‘flix with a blank fluoride stare until u fall asleep.
>he wouldn't purchase a handful of slave harem consist of atleast one tittie monster and one loli

At least use Destroymen or Lost Legion as examples you twat.
>Church Cardinal engages his granddaughter to MC as main wife
>Polygamy is actually "normal" for noble society, but politics are always taken into consideration - girls are AT LEAST as much golddiggers as they are lusting for cock, MC's harem being no exception - and they aren't afraid to admit it
>King of the nation does NOT have any inclinations toward trying to fuck over the MC for no reason, nor is he sucking the MC's dick under a tsundere guise, but is actually a rational schemer who balances using the MC's OPness for the sake of the Kingdom, without making him uncomfortable enough to defect to the neighbouring empire
...And then people complain about this series being "boring" for not having the exact clichés that these people are normally loathing...
I bet he wouldn't even consider becoming a slave merchant that only sells non-virgins.
so what do you think about isekai where the character gets properly warped by their new surroundings and would be unrecognisable to their previous self
No wonder he can't relate. What a fucking loser.
I said beloved classics, they can't be beloved if the average person has never heard of them.
How so? The fight was great.
Putin isekai fixes it

MC is actually honorable and competent national leader, not that cleptocratic gulag filth.
But it does show up though, I was going to say the same thing and then I googled.
I love this isekai
The tradition of isek/a/i was that people learn to recognise an isekai (usually otome/villainess) just by the main-girl's/femMC's name. But I guess you'd rather know that it's known as "8th son" or "hachinan". Heck, it even gets an anime next year.

What's the one between MT and spider?
I just want Sairin Yuusha to get a proper TL.
Are there any stories where the MC is forced to stay or defect to another nation because the kingdom they're in are a bunch of retards?
The hero is invincible but very cautious.
I'm glad they got goddess tits right, that's the trademark of the series in my book.
FUNA novels. At least for Average and Potions.

Isn't that the one where the main difficulty he has to face is a lack of resources, and then a zombie mage gives him a ton of super-valuable magic equipment and a bag of holding like 3 chapters in?
I didn't like it.
yes, and?
He has to give away the the entire bag though, in exchange for a pittance of a finder's reward.
lvl2 cheat he moves his house together with waifu and orbiters to another nation
Thanks, looks like another OP MC pretending as normal people doing mundane shit from the title.
He's munchkin demon-slayer accompanied by Aqua
Well, that makes it more interesting again. I'll pick it back up.
It also irritated me that he still looks 100% jap even though he was born into the new world properly, not just transported. Shouldn't it be more of a Rudi situation? That's a nitpick, though.

He got brown hair... I mean I guess anime logic made people used to that, but still...

>"Hey you girls! You should ditch a weak looking guy like him and join my party instead!"
>Adventurer tries to grab main waifu but MC interferes, adventurer gets irritated as fuck and shouts like a retard

>Onlookers gossip about "there is no way this weak-looking boy could possibly beat the C rank adventurer, he is MOU SHINDEIRU!"
>Moralfag protag sends adventurer flying in one punch, all the onlookers go "NANI!? He beat the C rank adventurer! MASAKA! Who is that guy?"
>Old man, seemingly a beggar, but actually the nation's king, who watches at the scene amused, evaluates moralfag protag and his relationship with the princess who is one of aforementioned beauties
>"Hmm, strength-wise that's quite good, but I could never let a man have my daughter until he beats me personally!"
>Suddenly the voice of the adventurer's father, who is the lord of this territory resounds through the entire city
>"HOW DARE YOU EMBARASS MY SON! I'LL HAVE YOUR HEAD AND WILL SELL YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR PARTY INTO SLAVERY!"
>Moralfag protag goes on to expose the entire noble's wrongdoing because of "MUH evil corrupt nobles!"
>As moralfag is about to deliver the judgement, the noble cries
>"Fool! Our Viscount X family is just small fry in comparison to the noble family we are subordinate to, which is the Marquis Y family, who are in turn direct subordinate to the royal family! You'll never have a peaceful life again!"

the translations for this are from the wn right? how different is the ln
I'm pretty sure there is an entire sub-genre of "the king and his court are corrupt retards so the MC is forced to leave to another country where everyone is nice and the rulers have literally no flaw", plus a sub-sub-genre where the good ruler is the Demon Lord.
normal story and character progresion and not im op form the get go or op in 1ch/1ep is borring and kill the story at start . and dont create gary sue type protagonist or the andt gary sue is also kill the story . dont make the protagonist chosen 1 from the start the best stories are form zero to hero/ form no one to some one . and first of all state the rulles of the universe and make the protagonist obey them . simple first objective and big dream is good story eg(OP first objective get a crew big dream PK) (naruto pass the clone test and become hokage) bleach failed to give ichigo a goal and that was 1 of the bigest flaws and bringing the big 3 so most people would get my point ( well naruto had the final boss problem ) we will see how OP will play this out .

In the novels he wears proper armor, the mangaka was probably more comfortable like this. Now that i remember, naofumi did wear armor in the first loop, when they stole his clothes.
Should I read this if Im up to volume 17 in LN?
The common isekai is the MC with a cheat power and all the natives retarded. There's the shitty harem composed of the elf, fox girl and the slave who isn't an actual slave just for saying goushinjin.
The female version (villainess in an otome game) sounds like a great concept except they are actually just ”rich daughter of a noble family who everyone loves”. Literally nothing is worse than that shit.
Fuck me, that shit sounds really interesting. I whould read the shit out of that setting. would be nice to see both perspectives in an parallel storytelling with first the perspective of the boy until banishment by humans and subsequent fall into despair and yandere fighting heaven and hell for her love until final reunification with her love to fight against everything
Sure thing, up to 16 is optimal. 12 if you want to know why motoyasu ended up like this.

Rich girl in a bear suit who everyone loves.
MC is isekaied for absolutely no reason, it stays unexplained. It can be something like he goes to bed one day and wakes up naked in an unfamiliar forest.
He doesn't know what the fuck is going on and doesn't even know that he's in another world. The wildlife is normal but there are a few small differences with the ones from our world like slightly bigger rabbits and MC thinks it's a bit weird and wonders in what country he is. MC has always been a city dweller but uses his intelligence to figure out how to survive while trying to find help and figure out where he is. It's difficult but he manages to do it.
>uses his intelligence to figure out how to survive
>cuddled white collar self-learning /out/ skills on the spot

>Also which volume does Naofumi and Raccon become OP god-tier?
Only in the WN.
So... RimuruxDiablo doujins when?
A world where most of the game system isn't known to the people is probably better than one where everyone acts like stats are normal.

So the Bear is a unique existence
Just let it die
there's loads of corrupt male nobles and merchants ho don't like her. There's yet to be a female villain even if there have been unpleasant women
Durandal is pretty broken, but not nearly as broken as some of Michio's skills.
"30% off everything", "job change", and "warp" are absolute b.s. tier. Dude could just work forex/trade instead of doing dungeons.
Yeah but bigger rabbits mean wolf-sized coyotes, car sized wolves and bus-sized bears. Also pigeon-sized wasps, cat-sized ants, some bugs the size of a dog, mosquitoes as large as a sparrow, snakes as long as our mothers list of male acquaintances, cessna-sized eagles, domesticated cats the size of a puma and puma the size of corolla. Ain't no hikki surviving that with pure wits unless cheats are on the table.
>Just let it die
We didn't get to Otome isekai anime and dungeon master isekai anime yet. So no. We won't let isekai "die" anytime soon.
I actually prefer the idea that people are familiar with magic and experience but don't see it in numbers and bars like isekai protagonists who only see it in that way because technology and/or games have made it the best way for their brains to process it
He's probably too paranoid he will be caught if he's buying and reselling things to profit off the 30%. It must have some sort of mind control effect, because someone should be able to do basic math when a winner of an auction pays less.
Did you forget how he couldn't use any magic because his MP wasn't enough until like level 30? He still goes full xanax&vodka when he needs to use warp to really profit of goods price differences between distant locations. He could not have safely farmed enough MP on rest stops without leveling himself up first.
His most broken abilities are 30% criticals + Jobless + 2 magic Jobs: he can probably breeze through 90 levels dungeon with those if he discards XP and crystallization gains.
What if all the animals are just 5% bigger, huh? Have you considered that? I don't actually think that would be interesting, but assuming "bigger" means "giant" is ridiculous.
>I can feel it flowing through me... the edge-face!
This is something I'd like to see more of, but the best in my opinion are isekai where nobody sees the game-like elements at all, and the MC has to feel their way around fantasy elements properly.
Yeah Slave Labyrinth and Overlord have locals use magic but unaware of arbitrary stats and bars munchkinism.
You forgot dungeons IRL the gook trend. I also saw some of those on RR.
>What if all the animals are just 5% bigger, huh?
Picrelated, how the fuck would MC notice it then that would literally make no difference, just make him slowly realize that such languages and countries don't exist on Earth then realize some more that he's not just in the past but on another world altogether.
No RPG stats.
No harems, at best one central love interest that doesn't immediately fall for MC..
Stop doing blatant self insert MCs, give them personality, tone down their special snowflake powers and make them interesting
Don't make everyone around MC retarded.
demon girls love ntr
>just make him slowly realize that such languages and countries don't exist on Earth then realize some more that he's not just in the past but on another world altogether.
This is a good idea. I like it. To be clear, even though I nitpicked the giant animals thing, I wasn't the person who suggested . Mundane survival in a forest sounds like a great way to have an incredibly boding story to me. It just struck me as odd that you took "bigger rabbits" and immediately went to assuming they'd be double or triple normal size.
they actually need more game elements like getting money as a drop from defeated enemies finding seeds of life/power/dexterity
I want to read an isekai about a protagonist who develops a massive stalker crush on the goddess who reincarnates him and disregards both his old life and the people of the new world because he ends up totally focused on her.
It'd be a novel explanation for the protagonist ignoring the women around him instead of just being a dense moron, and it would also be a motivation for adventuring that isn't the done-to-death "I want to go home," "I want to get powerwank revenge," or "I don't have a motivation and I'm just wandering around in the new world".
This would also make being isekai'd core to the plot, since the MC's motivation revolves around it, so we ignore the "why not just make it fantasy from the start" problem.
In other words, you want generic fantasy novel #9871464861154325641
I dropped this series after it became some "i want to be a cute girl" shit self insert instead of slime adventures. Does it get better?
so you want your MC to become a Paladin
>"bigger rabbits" and immediately went to assuming they'd be double or triple normal size.
Bigger stock fodder causes predators to thrive tundra where only stuff like mice is available all year round only have petite arctic foxes and tropics have bigass cats and snakes that can swallow a deer whole.
So yeah, significantly bigger rabbits = significantly bigger predators that prey on them. You could also just start to have wolf-sized foxes that would increase in mass following their stock prey, but that's nothing funny either.
Death.
You could say that, I guess. I think the mindset is a bit different, though. With a paladin, it's assumed that they're acting out of religious devotion to something they haven't personally encountered. There's the proselytizing, the strict moral code, etc.
With this guy, it's more of a person with an extreme romantic obsession; devotion, but not religious in nature. That the target of that devotion is a goddess isn't core to the protagonist's feelings.
how are you going to get a goddess favour other than proselytising, enforcing her will and living the way she commands her followers to. Heck she might be a minor goddess but thanks to MC attributing all his victories to her she becomes the number 1 religion in the nation
There's the black summoner isekai where we're told by the goddess herself the MC gave up his memories and got isekaid just to be with the goddess. Though he doesn't have the degree of fanaticism/love you're looking for.
guys too edgy maybe not in his actions per se but his vibe just says edge
I actually prefer the otome versions because they flesh out the noble characters more than just “the good/bad rich guy.”
And more importantly the beautiful evil rich girl archetype makes my wiener happy
>He's probably too paranoid he will be caught if he's buying and reselling things to profit off the 30%. It must have some sort of mind control effect, because someone should be able to do basic math when a winner of an auction pays less.
The way it's explained in the LN is that it's 30% off when merchants use the "calculator skill". However, the 30% makes the people seem like NPC when they shouldn't. Like when the bought Miria for like 300K nar, but then added a 300nar service that knocked the cost do like low 200k's. Any merchant could see that it's obviously wrong.
It's just bad writing imo. SlaveHarem author should take a page from ShieldHero author where MC has OP powers, but they always come at a cost.
> MP wasn't enough
MP limitations were early on. Solved because he has job change, wizard, and can use 6 jobs concurrently.
>use warp to really profit of goods price differences between distant locations
He did that with the mirrors.
So like I was saying. Dude has too OP skills. The sword itself isn't broken very broken compared to his extra skills.
Maybe one day he will make the sword himself and not spend skill points for it.
I was thinking it'd be the "goddess is bringing in a hero from another world to achieve some specific task or solve a looming disaster" model, so that the MC would be using his love (obsession) as a motivator for accomplishing that.
He wouldn't proselytize because new followers would potentially mean more people competing for the goddess' favor, and he wants to monopolize her. This could also drive a motivation to ascend beyond human limits later in the story, once he's dealt with the original problem he was summoned to handle. Now free to pursue his own ends, he attempts to usurp divinity so that he can be with his beloved goddess in person.
Of course, this protagonist would have prominent yandere qualities, if that isn't obvious already.
>He did that with the mirrors.
AFTER leveling his 6 jobs close to 40lvl and he still felt like shit and had to do several stops on the way. Also what would he do for intelligence card check? You do realize he had to race to lvl 50 Explorer to get Adventurer job otherwise first intelligence card check would raise alarms because explorer can't teleport willy-nilly on the surface and commoner aren't supposed to be wizards. And lower and intermediate tier wizard jobs don't have any teleport either.
TL;DR: To use [WARP] for trade Michio had to at least gain 50 levels in Explorer to have 1lvl Adventurer job.
He's planning upgrading Sacred Spear with MP absorption then he wouldn't really need Durandal.
Take it behind the shed.
He could discover that after unsuccessfully trying to court her by sending her gifts (making sacrifices)
>dude finds rundown shrine
>cleans it and starts bringing offerings every day on his way to work/school/morning jog
>gets cute kitsune demigod lolibaba
Every time.
He could use warp since the beginning.
>Durandal is pretty broken, but not nearly as broken as some of Michio's skills.
You either don't get the point or are shifting the discussion here with the limitations on distance and problems associated.
>He could use warp since the beginning.
You are shitting me or I have major memory loss I clearly remember him needing to pay entry fees to labyrinths and have Explorer at the entrance teleport him to desired floors at the beginning.
>shifting the discussion
Distance has limitations, without leveling up he would have to make like 10 stops to Palmaresque ASSUMING, he would have enough mana to jump even between those 10 stops to begin with. Mana expenditure DOES RISE with distance.
Also there is reason Michio needed 50 levels in Explorer and that is not to get his ass redflagged for teleporting without [Field Walk] if anyone checks his intelligence card.
The point I am arguing is this:
>Dude could just work forex/trade instead of doing dungeons.
He could not have worked trade from the get go, at least not very profitable one.
i think it got axed since the ending was pretty rushed, but i'm happy with it.
MC: "And now, Marquis DuChamp, I commend your life to the most holy and beloved goddess Selaria!"
DUCHAMP: "Selaria?"
MC: "Of course! What about it?"
DUCHAMP: "The goddess who tends the gates of the underworld? Death's secretary? That Selaria?"
MC: "Yes. Spit it out, man! What's your point?"
DUCHAMP: "Well, it just doesn't seem quite right. I mean, you've got me here, I can't escape, so I suppose you can pretty well do what you please, but if you're going to sacrifice me don't you think the god of... well, I don't know, war, or death, or fate would be more appropriate? Human sacrifice for Selaria seems a bit..."
MC: "SILENCE! Don't you insult her! I'll cut out your heart, you stupid bastard!"
Meanwhile, in the underworld...
SELARIA: "Now just where did the hero get an idea like that? I don't even accept human sacrifice. And really, shouldn't he have forgotten me? I simply don't understand what's going through his mind.
Isekai needs more tracksuits
Have the protag not get any super strong powers and in fact need protecting.
Make it so they're actually a copy of the Original, who some fucks in the new world copied over to try and use their "new blood" in rituals and shit, hence the need for protecting.
At least its what I'd do, it can be played for laughs, drama, horror...etc
There's a ton already: Kazuma and Subaru are most prominent ones.
yeah we need more
>In another world but I'm not Japanese, I'm Russian?!
Reversing it back to 90's/80's level with actual worldbuilding, story progression, character development and motivations instead of being a pure power-fantasy wank with videogame mechanics, levels, skills and other such shit that's currently rolling.
>and my cheat is OP alcohol tolerance so I go around the world winning drinking contests to pay for lodging and whores?
Who is going to pay for it though?
>You are shitting me or I have major memory loss I clearly remember him needing to pay entry fees to labyrinths and have Explorer at the entrance teleport him to desired floors at the beginning.
As for paying the fees, he only paid the first time for new dungeons to gain entrance or to higher floors to find empty areas. Later on he would just warp in. He did that because he would be in trouble if got caught warping into somewhere he shouldn't be able to.
As for warp, he used it very early on before getting Rox when he attacked the thieves den, also warped in/out of his home which is proof'd from normal field walk, from his home to dungeon which is only possible with warp, also did it within the dungeon to quick repeat farm boss battles (not directly to the boss room but a bit before it), used it in the fight against the theives that trapped him/rox/sherry/miria by warping in a supposedly no dungeonwalk area appearing behind 1 of the theives and kill him, etc.
I'm just saying normally there's fieldwalk and dungeonwalk. Both allowed teleport within each. Also has more restrictions about where it can be used and has a higher MP cost. Michio from the beginning used warp which has no restrictions to and from the dungeon, has fewer to no restrictions on the surface, and has a lower mana cost.
Point is that warp is very OP/broken compared to Durandal.
>He could not have worked trade from the get go, at least not very profitable one.
I wasn't talking about that, but if you want to say that then I won't go about refuting if you are saying he did a lot of work before he got to the point where he could. I was speaking that he didn't really continue to abuse by switching to trader as his main job and choose to keep doing dungeons.
>Who is going to pay for it though?
Me in blood if I have to. Also pretty chunky webm. What show or OVA?
Can you wash your eyes with soap and look at that post again, attentively this time?
It really just sounds like you're saying 80's/90's style isekai wouldn't be profitable. What's the hidden nuance, user?
That and webm has a title.
Every other time he hit a new sequence or hit a digestion milestone what he could do was an exposition blurb. The last time that happened it left stuff out.
