You're 100% correct; people know who Manny Pacquiao is. He's world famous and a superb professional boxer.

He's a tiny man. Weight classes exist in competitive sports for a reason and the literal who pictured would destroy him. It's why he doesn't compete in weight classes he doesn't qualify for: he'd lose.

Say all the praise you want for Manny, he's a great boxer. But if you're going to start claiming things like "best" or "most," you're going to need to start qualifying your statements. Here's two other literal who's that are professional fighters of incredible skill and talent.

ok, i'm sure you are right. desu i'm kinda drunk and i'm the same race as elliot rodger, so i feel some irrational pride towards pacquiao despite knowing nothing about boxing. why are the small guys more famous than the big guys then? are they faster/better to watch?

Big guys duking it out has two huge flaws, usually:
1. OHKOS - A lot of ridiculously strong fist bashers can end a fight in a matter of seconds. More frequently than smaller fighters. The downside? No one wants to pay hundreds of dollars in ticket fares to watch some giant moron fall in the about 54 seconds in the ring. Not worth the money.
2. Heavyweight usually = morons. A minor amount of technical knowledge, like how to throw a punch, they do have a coach after all. But that all flies out the window after basically no-time and they just start hurling haymakers at each other.

But small guys? They know they're small, even if they're fighting other small dudes. But to win, they gotta MAKE EVERY MOVEMENT COUNT. Strikes have to hit, blocks have to work, stamina needs to last. And, since they're both small, there's nothing to compare them to, so they still look muscular and masculine and awesome on camera. It works fine. Plus, there's a heckuva a lot more small guys on planet Earth and they last a helluva lot longer than 8 fights before "retirement."

By all means, love on Manny. Love lighter weight fighters! They're great to watch. Just be careful about making extreme claims without understanding these professionals do play under rules, and the rules exist for good reason.

He is "better" than the bigger guys.
His talent is immense and there's more to boxing than just punching strong. He dominated many weight classes over decades.

He would lose against a bigger boxer, yes, but just like a championship dog would lose against a horse, it doesn't mean the dog is less talented.

Let's say you have a greyhound dog running at 82km/h (10km/h beyond a greyhound's max speed) and you have a horse running 93km/h (5 km/h more than a horse's max)
Even though the horse wins, the Greyhound is more impressive.

Anyone who thinks heavyweight boxers belong in such a list shouldn't be even called a boxing fan. Heavyweight is the most shallow and least skill dependent class in boxing. It's because they're the apex predators of human males. Think about it, they are the strongest, smartest, best looking, and have the biggest dicks. They completely dominate everything from comedy to sports to academia and the current world boxing champ is Mexican (Who would have thought?).
