Why does this place never talk about Shoujo? What's your favorite series?
Why does this place never talk about Shoujo? What's your favorite series?
Cat Street was pretty good.
I can't stand the art style used in Shoujo manga.
Because shoujo manga tend to get live action adaptions rather than anime adaptions.
Could never make it very far in Please Save My Earth. That fucking kid was obnoxious.
xxxHOLIC
Does act age count as shoujo? Because that'd explain why I've never ever heard of it here
shoujo is cringe
can we talk about josei instead?
They both have good series and bad ones.
I love Shizuku
I like Aya nakahara
I liked Shirayuki
I liked Kuro Ouji and Ookami shoujo
She cute
Tanaka kun feels like a shoujo but I don't think it's classified as one
I've read my share of shoujo, my favorites are Tayou no ie, Last Game(despite it dragging), LoveCom, Fruits Basket and Reimei no Arcana.
Haven't read many josei, the last I remember was gook webcomic that finished two years ago called Cheese in the Trap, I thought it was good since it focused on characters lives and their problems rather than on romance like shoujo does. I also liked the way the writer told the story trough different perspectives as well as unraveling some lies, false impressions, etc. by showing flashbacks, it kept the drama intriguing.
Wonder why that tends to be the case
Act age is Shounen and gets a thread every week
kuragehime though its more josei
Machida was kind of glurgy near the end, but I enjoyed it for what it was.
I tried Natsume Yuujinchou and it was just okay. It's kind of samey after a while.
I need to finish that.
Any recs?
both are fucking cringe
josei is just shoujo but with real rape and more soap opera shit
This.
why do they look so bad?
>Ctrl F "Kodocha"
>Crtl F "Kodomo no Omocha"
>"No results"
Fuck you guys.
I remember watching a few episodes of this. It was alright. The mother was amazing.
Both the manga and the anime are god-tier.
Too bad the anime will never get proper subs.
Greatest love story in a manga/anime ever.
josei is cringe
can we talk about iyashikei instead?
Penguin Brothers, Kodocha, Yona of the Dawn, Fruits Basket
>Kodocha
based
You know she made a sort of sequel crossover with Kodocha and her other manga series. It's cute. Naozumi grows up to be gay, Akito and Sana have a baby, there's a mystery plot about Akito, etc.
I guess the simple, real world scenarios in shoujo don't necessarily need the flexibility that animation provides. If the story can be easily done by real actors, why animate it?
Is there any big shoujo manga these days because most of them ended.
I am reading that one about some girl who turns into Godzilla when she feels horny though the guy she likes but that is a monthly release not a weekly release.
I don't think shoujo manga get weekly releases at all.
Reminder that romance rankings go:
1. Seinen with female author
2. Josei with male author
3. Seinen with male author
4. Shounen with female author
5. Shoujo with female author
6. Josei with female author
7. Shounen with male author
Thought Fruits Basket was pretty dull and never got far into Yona. Should definitely pick Kodocha back up and will check out the other one.
I'm going to read Ouran High School Host Club in a little bit. I read Oniisama E a little bit ago and that was pretty good. Other than that I'm reading CCS Clear Card right now.
>I don't think shoujo manga get weekly releases at all.
I noticed this with what I have read. I don't think I've seen a shoujo manga that was in a weekly magazine. I'm sure there are weekly shoujo magazines but I've yet to find a series released like that.
Ouran's anime was honestly better. The manga is boring imo.
Saying that, the magazine Oniisama E was in was weekly for a while (while Oniisama E was running it was) but these days is twice a month.
I'm forgetting, but don't little girl anime get weekly manga? stuff like Pripara and Cocotama
What manga is that?
>You know she made a sort of sequel crossover with Kodocha and her other manga series.
Yeah I know about Deep Clear
>Naozumi grows up to be gay
I hated this development. Even the anime filler treated his character better.
Just because he couldn't let go of his love for Sana he turned gay...yeah that's very logical Obana -_-.
Naozumi deserved better than this shit, this really pissed me off.
>Akito and Sana have a baby, there's a mystery plot about Akito
There was no mystery plot about Akito.
Akito threatened to divorced Sana if she didn't abort the baby because he was scared that Sana would die just like his mother did.
Fruits Basket
Peach Girl
Tried to read Maidsama but it's boring, same with Ao Haru Ride
Kimi ni Todoke
Hana Kimi
He's bi, not gay.
>Maidsama
Oh man.
I remember reading this shit, I think it might have been my first shoujo. It was fun at the beginning but got boring later on and waiting for chapters monthly got old as well as the story turned generic so I dropped it at some point.
Usui Takumi was GOAT though. I wish I was that handsome and godly at everything.
No, he's literally gay or at the least he's pretending to be gay.
Point is that he never moved on from Sana and got into a gay relationship because he couldn't see any girl the same way he did Sana.
It's just fucking sad honestly. It's obvious that Naozumi got a shit unhappy ending.
Could have sworn he was bi, but yeah, that's fucked. I liked him and Sana better together.
>I liked him and Sana better together.
Nah man Sana and Akito is THE TRUTH.
But Naozumi deserved a better ending. He has a lot of fangirls, could have picked one of them or something. Just hate the fact that he's portrayed as unhappy in Deep Clear.
I never go for main couples and they are no exception. They're alright together, I suppose.
Don't really read or watch much shoujo but I did like angel sanctuary
Oh come on, Akito and Sana were not just "alright". Tsuyoshi and Aya were "alright"...Sana and Akito were amazing together.
Hayama breaking down in front of Sana crying near the end of the manga in that "disease arc" near the end is the closest any fiction has come to making me cry.
Hayama needed Sana much more than Naozumi did. He had it so rough for much of his childhood. Sana kinda is like the mother he never met.
They were just alright to me, sorry user. Maybe a reread will change that, but I doubt it.
Weekly manga being shit isn't a phenomenon exclusive to shoujo manga. All good manga are monthly, or biweekly at the very least.
Have you watched the anime btw?
Some of the filler like the New York arc made me like Sana and Naozumi more than I did in the manga and I like how that arc treated Naozumi by showing his real parents.
In the manga we don't get as much of that which is why I'm not as big of a fan of Sana and Naozumi in the manga.
I don't think the manga did that great of a job with Sana/Naozumi.
I feel like in the New York arc it's emphasized that Sana and Naozumi understand each-other's pain more which is what makes those scenes where they huge each-other and cry out so emotional.
Of course I still prefer Akito/Sana.
>All good manga are monthly, or biweekly at the very least.
Oh fuck off you cringey hipster you need to be 18 to post here.
So many damn great series came out weekly.
That's pretty much worse than forever pining. I wouldn't mind a gay end if only he was actually happy, but that's just awful.
>shoujo and josei
>on paper, it sounds like they have better written male and female characters compared to shounen romance
>but a lot of anons have proven otherwise
dayum, it almost piqued my interest
I feel like there aren't outstanding shoujo mangaka in the industry today. And because of that there isn't competition.
Forgot to mention Ore Monogatari. Still waiting on a translation for the newest chapter that released last year.
Exactly!
It's the one thing that really rubbed me off the wrong way about Deep Clear. Everything else was good.
>on paper, it sounds like they have better written male and female characters compared to shounen romance
Nah, in general most of them are just as shitty as most shonen romances but in different ways.
Shojos have awesome Chad MC's more frequently though.
Both are cringe
Textbook shoujo tends to have mary sue MCs and unnecessary mean girl dramas
Textbook josei has rape fantasies and unnecessary sexual dramas turned up to eleven
It's like the reader base enjoys getting emotionally tortured or something, oh wait.
The best of shoujos are ironically borderline shonen e.g. Angelic Layer, Versailles no Bara, Tenshi na Konamaiki
Reminder that Drowning Love is the best shoujo of this century.
Because Shoujou manga is for little roasties in training.
have sex
I love most of shoujo. They tend to have a better grasp of human relationships in contrast to Shounen. My only problem is the bitchy type female like the one in Koe no Katachi. God I fucking hate Kawai.
