It doesn't get "good" so much as it gets consistently solid. The main plot stuff with Spike drags, but most of the episodic stuff is good minus some random episodes.

Each episode has it's own unique appeal. The only connecting thread is having the same 4 characters mostly being involved. I will say though that I personally found many of the episodes in the first half to be kinda uninteresting. The second half is where most of my favorites are at.

So uninteresting western like episodic trash? Pass.
