Why aren't some people willing to admit that shonen is for kids? I'm not trying to insult the genre or anything but doesn't shonen literally translate to "juvenile," or "boy?"
Why aren't some people willing to admit that shonen is for kids...
Was ping pong too good?
Pic unrelated?
Why can't people admit that labeling manga by genre's based on the magazine it releases it is retarded? There are plenty of manga that have every shounen trope but get labeled seinen because it's in a seinen magazine, and even more so vice versa. A manga magazine may usually target one demographic but that doesn't mean they don't mix it up to target more.
Uhh as opposed to Moe?
idol and mahou genre is also for kids
moe is for middle aged salarymen
Why did pin pong look so ugly though? Did they just rotoscoped everything or something? Even Devilman looked better than that
Do you think Shounen is a demographic when more than 50% of Jump's readership is over the age of 25, when OP's readership is between 25 and 50, when all the major japanese and western websites that sell manga and anime categorize seinen and shounen under genre and when every single website about anime and manga lists seinen and shounen as genres? There's obviously two meanings to the word in vernacular. One is the demographic and the other is a distinct and very prevalent type of genre that's essentially the hero's journey on crack. You're a moron if you think the usage of the word shounen is only applied to the former.
meant for
Moe is actually kind of a genre (though it's pretty vague imo) while shonen is not. There is shonen moe (Lucky Star) just like there's seinen moe (K-ON).
>Why can't people admit that labeling manga by genre's based on the magazine it releases it is retarded?
Shonen and seinen aren't genres. Only retards use them as genres. If a manga is in a shonen magazine, it's aimed at the shonen demographic and so is shonen. If you want to separate them into genres then qualify them like with battle shonen.
>when all the major japanese and western websites that sell manga and anime categorize seinen and shounen under genre and when every single website about anime and manga lists seinen and shounen as genres?
Post some then.
>Do you think Shounen is a demographic when more than 50% of Jump's readership is over the age of 25
Target demographic and reading demographic are different things.
I guess Shigurui is for kids then. Most seinen are dumb as fuck, those terms hold no meaning, stop trying to attached it to them
Shonen is for the 7-14 year old age range. The west thinks things have to be aimed at an audience below 7 to be kid-friendly.
>shonen
>genre
Yes, definitely will be in the top 3 in the running for AOTD.
Why do normalfaggot retards try to socially shame people on an anonymous imageboard where people openly fap to little girls, incest, rape, gore, scat, etc. etc.
How is wanting people to stop using terms incorrectly just because they're insecure about what they read/watch shaming them?
Because they're faggots who are too insecure to admit they enjoy something made for kids.
dude, never trust a show just cuz its a shounen. it can be straight up porn sometimes.
next time you beat your dick to loli porn just do us a favor and admit you like 8 year old girls
Kodomo is for kids, shonen is young, and young is 12-18, or even more older
More like 12-16. And seinen is 16+.
desu I consider people that age to be kids
Ping pong looks good, it is just the artistic design that you don't like. It takes a second to get used to it but I appreciate the unique nature of Ping pong's artistic direction. It doesn't look bad unlike berserk 2016 and 17.
Based. Kong was the goat
Why some faggots think kids = stupid?
>It takes a second to get used to it
I watched all of it and indeed it was more bearable after the couple of episodes. But still even now I think that it is far from being aesthetically pleasing .
because adults are dumb.
Shonen basically just means all-ages when defining its use on manga.
What you want to be asking is why don't certain people admit that Shonen should appeal to kids, instead of just their own age group of 18-30.
Donno. But they are half right
