It's the start of the 4th arc of the V series as we bid farewell to Aichi and crew and take a trip back 10 years to the the glory days of Shinemon Nitta, the shop manager of Card Capital!

I recommend putting Shinemon in the title OP so people are more willing to check it out
I like the OST still
>subs are bugged
WHERE ARE MY EXPLANATIONS LIKE YOU CAN'T INTRODUCE A BAJILLION OF NEW CARDS AND EXPLAIN ONLY 3 OF THEM WHAT ARE THESE NEW GENESIS GRADE 1 CARDS I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE TRIAL TO BE RELEASED TO KNOW IT
It's easily my favorite opening of the V era.
The Nubatama tokens are cute.
SHIN IS /OURCHAD/
This is how the fights have been for a while now. Doesn't seem they're changing it even with a new arc. Gotta give a reason to watch the streams.
The opening looks unfinished. There were several scenes from the episode in it.
Say something nice about your new main cast
They did the same thing with G NEXT. It should only be for the first two episodes
>Zodiac Blazer
Valkyrion is 100% going to be used to summon GC.
>Shin indirectly passing the torch to Chrono through his ace being used to bring Gear Chronicle to Earth
would be amazing
>cake falling for him 5 minutes in
>tfw you will never bang your best friends little sister
Interesting tidbit.
Aichi's V record is 13-7 (counting only featured fights and not offscreen fights). That's a 65% winrate.
OG Aichi's record is 39-17 (featured fights and not offscreen fights) for a 70% winrate.
By season progression:
V Aichi: S1(54% winrate) -> S2(80%) -> S3(75%)
OG Aichi: S1(60% winrate) -> S2(75% winrate) -> S3(77% winrate) -> S4(0% winrate)
So while it looks like V Aichi wins more overall OG Aichi had the better record.
Already better than the last arc
at least they arent carbon copies of the old cast
Another group of people and I were looking at win records overall(discounting flashbacks and fights against nameless people, offscreen fights still counting) and figured out something interesting.
OG Aichi(by our record) was 50-20
Chrono's was 46-18
So while it looked like Chrono was overwhelmingly better and won all the time compared to Aichi, their rates are actually very similar with OG Aichi just barely edging ahead.
Last arc had the monental occasion of Kai and Aichi finally being shirtless after 10 years, nothing will top that.
Shin running into shota Aichi when?
>inb4 he sees Kai giving aichi BB
I would rather him see Kai vs Ibuki so they can print BB Burst.
Why the fuck did they make Shin a moron? I don't like that. As an adult he seems really wise and sensible. They could balance his reckless/hot-bloodedness while not being an idiot. This just makes him look more like a generic shonen protag.
We have to give him time to mature. Mikuru will make him a man worthy of being a manager
>AUTO](VC):When placed, this unit gets [Power]+5000/drive +1 until end of turn.
Is this s t r i d e?
>When it attacks, COST [Soul Blast 9],
>At the end of that battle, put all of your rear-guards on the bottom of your deck in any order.
Weakness is a sin.
Team Cool Older Men
>Cb1, on attack to get a force gift.
That's kinda nuts.
Also the new nubatama gimmick looks realy cool.
I mean it jsut make so that getting Valk turn 4 is a reality
even if it's restricted to a vanguard, gaining a permanant 10k boost for your vanguard is nuts. Imagine having to guard a 50k vanguard swing every turn.
Once you meet the conditions to summon the astral plane, you;'re dealing with a 70k Valk(that can also drive check) and a 63k Vanguard.
That 63k is going to be around until you finally kill the opponent or die
>implying people will play valk
He literally a garnet, and will be so much of a meme without a searcher it might spawn it's own meme
You're right. Everyone will be playing this G5 dragon instead.
I can see it getting a searcher or at least a check top X.
We don't even know what Prometheus does as the main G2 of the Trial Deck. The CB1 gift giver is just a regular 3-4 of
Valk is kinda bad atm though.
You need to hard draw a card with no shield that can't be called unless you're turn 4+ or ridden.
Unless they print a searcher (I hope they will) it'll prolly not see play.
I thought the Dragon was just a Genesis VR g3.
I'd suck if Valk gets replaced so early.
It's literally in same situation tho
It can get 3 crit 120K power and pent drive and it would amount to nothing if it just a hard you must hard draw before you make plays
>It can get 3 crit 120K power and pent drive and it would amount to nothing if it just a hard you must hard draw before you make plays
If it has guard restrict it would 100% see play.
Valk will probably be like Mystery Flare Dragon. New cards came to replace it but Chrono still rocked it for a while until it was clear it was a dumb idea
This arc isn’t going to be that long though so he might ditch it way sooner
Having good finishers doesnt mean a whole lot when you cant get to then
This Also, despite the trial deck having 4 I doubt Shin is running more than 1 Valkerion. He needs another G5 so he can get the quintuple drive.
How long do you think Shin will last for? 12 or 24 episodes?
24. The first half will be shop hijinks and the 2nd will be Ryuzu fucking everything up.
>He needs another G5 so he can get the quintuple drive.
So that's why he's running more than 1, what the fuck?
Did they establish Valk as this super rare card or are we reviving the BB meme?
>not dumping Valk for Quint drive.
He could run it as a 2 of IMO.
Also Valk being a maindeck crey elemental reminds me literally any deck can run 4 of him even if they can't call or ride it.
It’s probably running until end of February. So about 25 episodes.
24-36
It's either and or since the Gear Chronicle set is in February we get 24 episodes of hijinks and 12 episodes of Ryuzu fucking things up until Y3 in May/June
Huh, is it already set in stone Ryuzu is appearing? I'd gladly welcome that!
His Ikemen design was criminally underused.
He's not confirmed but the timing with a Gear Chronicle set right after the Kanzaki one and before the official start of Year 3 is really fucking suspect
>almost bare tits
>in my Vanguard
>we're never going to get porn of her because vanguard is too small, and the few people we do have mostly draw Yaoi.
Considering the way ahsha dresses this is nothing.
I know of at least three artists that do straight Vanguard lewds, one of which actually releases doujin and has finally gone into ebooks. We will get porn of this woman
Guide me, user.

Things have slowed down a bit though
I hope the Machining support isnt relegated to 1 ofs
Ornamental is already super good for the deck and the new build needs more cards to support it
It made more sense on a G2
also can you put force markers on the back row?
You can put force markers on any circle you like.
Looks like things are still pretty slow. Guess we can’t have regular threads even with a new cast.
Putting Shinemon in the subject line will make it feel more fresh instead of just another arc
its a shame
I wish they put special attention to Episode 1 and made it kino animation
We can try it I guess. I don’t know how much impact it will have.
It’s fine. If VRAINS ends next month we’ll have more traffic with new people getting into this series since this will be the only relevant card game anime on air.
>VRAINS ending next month
Honestly I dont see it happening
Rank the OP/ED based on both visuals/song
OP:
Destiny Calls > Lead the Way = Legendary > Invincible Fighter
ED:
Gift > Gift from the Fight > Triangle Message > Mainichi Climax > Unstoppable
>legendary
>not first
>Shin is now her uncle again instead of her cousin
What the fuck? I thought it was established in the original V timeline before everyone lost their memories they were cousins.
When did it say he was her uncle again? I totally missed it.
Unless YT subtitles are being stupid this implies Shin is her uncle.
Legendary and Gift from the Fight are my favorites from this era.
No, the subs are correct. Misaki's mom does say niece there.
OP:
Legendary > Lead the Way > Destiny Calls = Invincible Fighter
ED:
Gift >= Triangle Message > Maniachi Climax > Gift From the Fight > Unstoppable
So how do we explain this then? Or did Bushi just make an oversight and didn’t plan Shinemon that far in advance? Even if that’s the case it’s not like it matters if it’s niece or cousin. They could just keep it consistent.
I hope its time fuckery and will eventually be explained. But Bushi probably just made a mistake.
>inb4 time dialation is what made shin her uncle
Will Mikuru get a fight that isn't the battle for Shin's dick
Doesn't seem like it. She's likely the Emi of this series except more relevant I guess.
It's kinda underwelming considering his OG counterpart
But that's been true of every breakride retrain
OP looks pretty normal except this one particular frame is rather interesting. Looks like an unknown character from afar looking downward at what seems to be an excavation site? Or is that Shin? I wonder what that is all about.
Some people have said Ryuzu while others think it's Shin. If it is Shin, that looks like older him so maybe a timeskip. If it's Ryuzu, that means the start of him constructing the lab for the stride gate
Imagine having a clan asthetic that melts together harder than 'football demons'
It could also be the new Angel Feather guy. Aside from the middle bang, the hair is similar.
>shota playing AF
based itou
I really want that to be Ryuzu but the clothes don't look regal enough. That said I wouldn't be surprised considering they did the same thing with Girs crisis where we saw a clip of his face for a split and nothing else until the next season...
m-mommy...!
Reminder that all Angel Feather players have some form or major baggage that drives them crazy. What will Tatsuya's be?
>No purple eyeliner
I want my refund
Be careful what you wish for. Her boss card has the potential to attract a lot of furfags.
This is before he declared WEAKNESS as the 8th sin
we just need to convert the furfags to regular fags
It's the new silver haired boy. The bangs only look too large because he's at a distance
A boy using angel feather is an immediate red flag. The fact that he doesn't appear in the present timeline yet is the first character we see in this season and is already making jokes about how he is easily forgettable. I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be some kind of twisted brat archetype like Noa and Ryuzu happened to be after seeing this
What is it with card game anime and evil shotas
So I went through all the VG OPs to see how the cardfight composition writer changed over time.
For S1 it was Satoshi Nakamura, better known as NAC a famous MTG player in Japan back in the day and the technical advisor for Duel Masters. He also has a hand in development for Weiss and Vanguard.
For Asia Circuit it was Satoshi Nakamura again.
For Link Joker it was Satoshi Nakamura.
For Legion Mate it was Satoshi Nakamura.
For G S1 it was Satoshi Nakamura.
For GIRS CRISIS it was Satoshi Nakamura.
For STRIDE GATE it was Satoshi Nakamura.
Starting with NEXT it was a duo of Satoshi Nakamura and Nakao Soya. Soya is a member of Yuhodo which is a gaming company run by Nakamura. He works with system design for certain games. Yuhodo is also a company in charge of research and development for Vanguard and he's on the team that handles that.
For GZ it was Satoshi Nakamura, Nakao Soya and Moe Fujita. Fujita is also a member of Yuhodo and works high up the ladder with Nakamura and Soya in designing and developing the card game.
For V it was Nakamura, Soya and Fujita again.
For Shinemon it is Nakamura, Soya and Fujita.
So overall it was the same guy by himself up till the studio change which came with NEXT and then with GZ another member was added. Yet the quality of the cardfights wildly ranges from both sides of the spectrum. Given all these guys actually design/develop and playtest the new cards and mechanics it's safe to say they know how to play the game. It's likely Bushiroad telling them what they want in cardfights and them now focusing on other aspects of the anime like storytelling and characters compared to the early days where they absolutely needed to sell the card game in the anime.
I guess Vanguard is in the eternal struggle between Card Game anime and card game Anime. The very vocal fans want the former while the company is constantly trying to become the latter. Is there truly a middle ground?
Probably he doesn't have any real power when it comes to deciding what makes it into any given episode. I imagine he's told who will be fighting, who wins, and any key cards that need to be shilled. Then he writes out a complete play by play for the duel. From there the writers/director chop it up.
Which most of the time seems to be chop up any time spent showing costs or turns where the most eventful thing is ride/call then swing
>purple eyes
I've been thinking about this for a long time now and I've come to realize that the "real" thrill of VG fights was all the internal strategic thoughts and in-depth explanation of the mechanics by characters that gave it the grounded card game feel. When it comes to actual cardfighting, the fights themselves aren't really that exciting to watch and that's mainly because VG isn't that great of a card game to put in a limited time animated format like this. The game is already pretty long to play so to properly show each and everything would take up a fair bit of time. And the approach the animation team takes in visual display and presentation is stiff and boring. Yeah you'll have exceptions here and there but it's not really dynamic as say YGO. And a lot of VG is standardized too. You ride -> call -> activate some skills to gain power/some kind of advantage -> attack. Especially if you don't see the fighter's hand throughout the fight or their thoughts about how they will defend each attack a lot of the defending becomes anti-climactic because they're just throwing down cards you didn't even know they had. But in YGO you have spells, traps and other monster effects that create more tension and thrills in the duels. There's a lot more back and forth which is easier to put in this kind of animated format. Also, the visual presentation and layout is a lot more exciting to watch too because of how over the top and zany it is.
Now they could focus on the in-depth mechanics and internalization but a lot of the script would get geared towards that which leaves less time for everything else because then the fight takes up the whole episode. And clearly there are other stuff too like the pacing of the story, focusing on characterization, incorporating some kind of drama or comedy, etc. So the middle ground here is just show the meat of the fight (namely the G3 turn) show a few important skills and then just move on to other stuff, and honestly I'm ok with that.
God I hate the reboots card capital. Whos bright idea was it to make it all dull and grey in the first place? I get that it's based off the manga, but shouldn't the point of a card shop is to have it be bright and inviting, or at the very least stuff on display
I think the 'fight per episode' thing is what ruins them. I remember the original vanguard would have the fights often take place in a span of 2 or sometimes even 3 episodes. But yeah, fights just became longer ove time with the introduction of Perfect guards, Grade 4's and gifts. Originally you had to two choices back in the day once you were attacked. Either take the damage, or throw down your entire hand
>I think the 'fight per episode' thing is what ruins them
Honestly this, aside from season finales, we rarely get a looks at peope hands mid game and see whole games from turn 1
It's the product release schedule. Slowing down means less time to shill decks in different matchups especially with a new set every month with 3-5 new VRs/decks.
Honestly the shop being drab and uninviting just makes it seem more realistic to me.
I don't know about that. For the manga stuff they more or less did their own thing and separate it from the product schedule. Even after that they never shilled every deck or VR.
I've been to several card shops and none of them are as lifeless as reboot card capital
No new series annunced?
100+ episodes for shota uncle shin
Wise man learn from his mistakes desu
There was a new series announced but it's for 2020. If it ends next month then that leaves at least 3 months of nothing but Vanguard which could help its popularity.
Vanguard ex? Fuck.
>opening shot with Shin's important moments and people flashing by
>the Tokura family
>visiting Misaki at the hospital
>*heavy static*
>Rive
>ends with Mikuru
>no Mark
>no Tatsuya
>Tatsuya worried about being forgotten episode one
Really, what did they mean by this
Who knows. It might not be anything. We got baited by the evil looking Ezel in the last OP too.
Evil Ezel feels like content cut once Itou begged for the Shin series he always wanted
Takuya Sato and Tsubasa Yonaga just finished doing their last RadioVan episode. Feels so weird they came back after a long time and left again in just over a year. I wonder how they feel they didn’t get a gig for like 4 years like the OG era.
Vanguard EX is in September 18
Vanguard ZERO is September/October
VRAINS is ending in September/October
well I didn't see that coming
"Remember Shin. No survivors"
"wake the fuck up samurai''
If Vanguard goes the usual route then Esuka is just a cover up to hide Tatsuya as the real villain. I bet he'll be the 'You all laughed at me- well look at me now' kind of villain
I think it's more the studios fault than anybody on the vanguard team. The studio probably made it dark and bland as an easy way to save time because they don't have to draw posters, lighting, color, ect.
It's not just card capital, all backgrounds have been pretty bland since the reboot
Man,overall I really hate zero and it and it needs to be scrapped! First of all and most importantly, IT'S NOT VANGUARD! One of the best things about mobile card games is that its a great way to introduce first time ever players an opportunity to try out the game before they might buy into real cards and events. But with the different rulings of how grade 3 are triggers that get discarded during drive checks, pgs only work when at 5 damage, grade 2 rearguards are taunters, etc...all of these things arent even a real mechanic for the game that we all ended up enjoying. So if i run into people and they want to give vanguard a try...you cant tell them "try vanguard zero to learn the game" because it's not the legit game!
What they should of done is any of the following 2 things:
1. Make it standard format only since its the newest products they can use it to teach players how to play properly and promote that they could get the cards now and maybe include in packs promo codes where if you bought packs irl you could use those codes for the in game to try to get something similar to OR/SVR/SPs etc
Or 2: go the duel links route where they use only extremely outdated cards (from the og series) then slowly ease they're way into "newer" mechanics like limit break/break ride/ legion/ strides/ imaginary gifts. That way people can play the evolution of the game on mobile and understand how things changed and might be a good way to strengthen both the standard/ g era/ premium formats as well (still irl packs give promo codes for in mobile game is still a thing they can do)
Overall, PLEASE scrap zero and change it to the legitimate game where people can give it a try and learn how to play properly instead of this garbage.
Ps.Apperently there's an "slide to boost and attack which unit part",why couldnt they just make you tap on the unit if you want to boost first then switch it over to what unit you want to hit with?
the ''my room'' looks cute tho.
Why is shins school uniform purple instead of blue?
Imagine walking into a card shop not even knowing how to play yet and there's just posters of you plastered all around.
It won't be scrapped since way to much effort was put into it. But I can see where you're coming from, it definitely feels more like a spin off or even kind of a bootleg. But still, it's better than nothing and I personally know multiple people who can't wait for it as they don't exactly want to go out of their way to drive 40 minutes just to buy a few cards or partake in every tournament. It's free and immediate access to Vanguard and that's what matters really
>responding to a stale pasta
Kai and Miwa don't match either.
Maybe they're in different classes or something.
well that answers the question then
They dont match cause tradicionalism
>the first episode wasn't a tutorial episode
They're really assuming you're coming in from the Aichi arcs.
I think the last tutorial episode was because they switched timeslots at the start of the koshien arc
>that time Ren actually cried
How can that much hair fit in such a small towel?
Esuka brand super towel
What would he even do as villain? Rape Mikuru as Shin watches? Find a way to sell card capital over to some other third party?
be like that one buddyfight guy that turned evil to shill lost world
The Vanguard setting isn't designed to handle that much chuuni
While it's not set in stone, V-G is kinda like an inevitability so it would be nice
I don’t want a rehash of the stride gate plot though. Rather they do something completely new with it.
Too bad we'll probably not going to get this
yu-gi-oh! fan here, how do i get into cardfight and what should i expect from it?
The fastest way to get started would be to watch the 2018 reboot anime(3 completed seasons, 64 episodes total) then start watching the newest season that's a prequel.
You can also take the slower route and go through the original series(196 episodes across 4 seasons and a movie) followed by Cardfight Vanguard G(176 episodes, 5 seasons)
What to expect:
The first few episodes of the reboot and original series will teach you the game relatively in depth so you don't need to already know the game.
The franchise as a whole is significantly more character driven than plot driven compared to say most YGO entries,
Expect the main character to be a twink for a significant length of time
Feel free to ask any questions
>how do i get into cardfight
Start with the current V series. It's called Cardfight Vanguard (2018). There are 67 episodes currently so it's not too long.
>what should i expect from it?
Basically I'll break the series down into pros and cons.
Pros - Diverse cast of characters, characterization/development, character interactions, comedy, slice of life moments, organized plot, pacing, story is simple to follow but has nice twists and turns, music.
Cons - Card battles aren't as dynamic or fun to watch as YGO and can be barebones in execution sometimes so it's hard to understand what's going on, animation quality is inconsistent, not as much focus on the card game as you would expect, sound direction can get a bit repetitive.
Have you ever read YGO R? Vanguard is made by the same guy. If you liked that story you can expect similar elements in Vanguard too.
That's all I can really think of at the moment.
>not counting the whole field
Ok but why
Because 35k+ may as well be a free PG.
It's almost like they don't know what the main group should be. These four are the center of the ending, the promotional content and pr focus on pic related and the OP doesn't even have Tatsuya what so ever
The opening is clearly unfinished. I'm sure he'll be there in another week or two.
Im pretty sure thta pose is a reference to something
forgot pic
I guess. It still seems weird to have one of the supposed major character be totally absent
>Shin being a rebel in that store and keeping it out of Esuka's control ends up being the major factor in Aichi reuniting with Kai.
Man that's so cool. You can see how these little things are connecting together.
Give it time. Again this isn't the first time OLM pushed out an unfinished OP.

You really have to ask yourself what the hell happens to all these characters in the current V timeline like Esuka and her big card shop conglomerate or Tatsuya.
It was 10 years ago so a lot would've changed, we'll probably find out what happens at the end of the arc inb4 Ryuzu wipes out Esuka's conglomerate
>Inb4 actual character death in VG
Never forget user
Ok well it depends on if Ryuzu is an Itou creation. Because if not he may not even come back then. You saw what happened with Raul Serra and Void.
>Vrains being shorter than Arc V
I also wonder how much of G he designed. Nextage was at least in the one shot G prologue by Itou
I know he designed Dran Z, Jet Z, Heritage and Gyze. And he was on the GZ announcement stream so it's likely all the apostles were his creations too which explains Ruga and Esuka. Not sure about Kanzaki and the other guy though.
manga Card Capital is mostly identical to season 1 Card Capital, just with picnic tables instead of Costco chairs. The color version even gives it the same color palette.
Mos Eisley Capital is OLM's fault.
Dran Z and Jet Z always felt like they were supposed to be Gyze variants because of the color and set they were released in, but then they retooled the show and dumped the GyzeChrono plot
>Chrono never used Gyze
>the one time Chrono used a Zeroth Dragon it backfired horribly
Maybe god cards hate him
Will EX gets an english release? I am not that worried since switch is region free but playing that in english would e nice.
not unless there's a Digimon-tier petition for it
The original manga says that they are cousins but the entire anime had them be Uncle/niece until the reboot happened. They likely just back stepped because it made more sense to the ones currently watching.
A dream come true.
I thought I told you. You're going to pick up his cards from this floor NOW.
So try to act like an anime villain only to realize noone takes you seriously because its stupid as hell?
Shin buddyfight got way too meta at times.
Truly gone too soon

Why are we so dead? What will it take for things to change?
It's V-BT01 Novas, you can just pick up the PGs and leave the rest there.
But what if Rive uses old BT01 cards?
Alot of things. A completely new season in a different universe that's totally detached from Aichi would help a lot though. During the G era, people constantly begged for Aichi & co and now in the reboot people are doing the same Chrono & co. Unless they break that cycle it it probably won't change any time. You can only talk about the same characters and same situations so much before they start getting stale. Hell the most discussed character in this thread right now is probably Tatsuya and that's only because we know where everybody else ends up in the timeline
Rive is probably rocking Heroes like Miwa did so sure
