Poltergiest report? It's pretty great for an anime movie like it and it fits snuggly into canon between the dark tournament and chapter black. The animation is good and the villains are fun with some great fights, hell we finally see hiei in his demon form again in it. If you're talking about the one that was bought by funimation, its alright its more of a double length episode than a movie, though the little short OVAs that came with it were pretty good

Sensui was fine as a villain up until the last minute reveal that he had the exact same motivations as Toguro but in reverse.

YYH has a lot of good stuff in it, but it got trapped into a kind of humdrum repetition. Chapter Black was a return to form in a way, but then it shat the bed too. I still like YYH despite its problems, but I wish it got treated to the kind of ambition HXH gets.

YYH also has some of Togashi's best art. I prefer the manga to the anime in part because Togashi's art has a grit to it that the anime doesn't.

Sensui was a more interesting foil to Yusuke on paper, but the story decides to emphasize the least interesting parts of him. His fractured personality shtick felt like a distraction, and bringing his motivations (which are a little lousy anyway) full circle with Yusuke's O MY ANCIENT DEMON KING ANCESTOR remains the lowest point of anything Togashi has written.

I like YYH's characters more, but HxH is a lot more interesting everywhere else.

Why would it? The original anime is pretty well-regarded.

Spirit Detective arc should have been longer. I think more could have been done with that concept before they jumped into the E4 arc. Thought that the spirit items would have gotten more use before being quickly ignored. Even after the E4 battle there could have been more down time with detective work before jumping right into the Dark Tournament. For me the show pretty much peaked with the DT. Everything after that felt like half functional ideas with not enough body to hold. Even the final arc tries to build up this story that looks like it could span multiple arcs, and it ends 5 episodes later.

spirit detective was the best arc. I wish we got a lot more of it, especially of yusuke and kuwabara being total bros.
dark torunament is fine, but far from the best tournament arc in shonen as I hear it is regarded as. it has some very interesting and entertaining fights, but most of it is fairly mediocre and forgettable and does a lousy job at establishing stakes and rivalries and toguro really isn't that great of a villain. I think overall it loses to the first torunament arc in dragon ball.
chapter black arc is very flawed but at the very least it had consistently interesting fights up until the very end.

I thought Sensui was awesome until he put on that fucking ridiculously gay silly armor with the funny hat, what a garbage design

Why do so many sperg out about dubs when it's essentially just a different way of enjoying the same medium? I get it there are bad dubs but there are also really good ones, I think it's unfair to dismiss them. At the end of the day it comes down to personal preference.

Kind of comparing Apples to Oranges. Yu Yu Hakusho was meant to be a straight up battle Shonen and Togashi's amazing characterization is still there. It's not like he magically became a better writer. He always had ideas that he couldn't implement into YYH, due to time constraints or lack of creative freedom.
