Be absolutely honest, are you REALLY able to watch pre-2000's stuff and not fucking cringe?
Is it all just contrarianism or actual boomerism?

>Be absolutely honest, are you REALLY able to watch pre-2000's stuff and not fucking cringe?
Yes.
Also, I don't use the word "cringe".
>able to watch pre-2000's stuff and not fucking cringe
Rarely. I've seen 750 or so 20th century anime and most are pretty cringe.
Why don’t you stop using faggotspeak for once in your goddamn life?
Imagine missing out on some of the greatest works in the medium because your adhd brain can't handle not having flashing bright colors and digital effects spammed at your eyes constantly.
>using a Nadesico pic to illustrate your shitty point
>look ma, I know buzzwords!
If you had doubt, yes, your self loathing is completely justified.
Why don't you fuck off and die, i assure you it will solve all your problems you have..
yes. I do get annoyed by how much they overexplain things a lot of the time, but I tend to enjoy shows from the 80s and 90s way more than the shit that's currently airing
This two minutes and 20 second clip is literally superior to anything and everything meme spamming JoJo secondary ADHD riddled zoomer motherfuckers enjoy
>goemon's revenge being labeled episode 20
this upsets me
I have a more difficult time watching new anime.
It is actually astounding how ignorant JoJo zoomers are when it comes to not knowing just how old JoJo is, while actively despising all content made in the past decades
Is pretending for Lupin to be good the big boomer meme?
You have to be 18+ to post here, kid.
I am 30. Being old doesn't suddenly make you retarded, user.
I will gut you alive you human vermin
Yes actually
There was anime pre-color, never mind pre-2000's. I was watching it when they only had it on the radio.
Why wouldnt I be able to watch it?
Yeah, get outta here faggot.
By virtue of not being an underage retard like OP, yes I can.
I can watch them without a problem and I was born in 1999. I don't have a preference for them but I don't object to them either.
80s>70s=90s>00s>>>s
newfag
>Be absolutely honest, are you REALLY able to watch pre-2000's stuff and not fucking cringe?
Yes. What about make you cringe?
>Is it all just contrarianism or actual boomerism?
It's just that any non-retard can appreciate and enjoy things that weren't made in their lifetime. There are also many black and white movies that I enjoy.
The fact that...
>people still read Homer's works, which are literally two and a half thousand years old
>but twenty years and an anime becomes shit
...shows how far anime is from becoming a serious art form.
The 2000s were the best anime decade and it isn't particularly close.
Exactly. Good literature and film ages like fine wine. 80s anime aged like milk. Scripting, storyboarding, writing, they are all terrible.
I have a harder time watching post 04 anime and not cringe, it didn't get particularly bad until this decade though.
>but twenty years and an anime becomes shit
>80s anime aged like milk
2019 - 20 somehow means the eighties. Zoomer education at work, everybody.
Imagine actually being so far up your own ass that you need to label people if they want to watch something older than when you were born. Just imagine being that retarded
More like it shows how shit is art progress is general, compared to, say, technology.
There are a few very emotionally disturbed anons on here who get triggered by the existence of 80s anime because it got popular with some normies due to future funk and all that.
It's nothing new, though. The same happened in the late 90s. Idiocies such as "anime had no plot before Evangelion", "anime was exclusively shallow entertainment for kids until this decade", "I don't like Yamato because it's boring and the animation is dated" were an everyday occurrence.
It's funny though watching the same retards that were so smug yet ignorant back then complain about kids right now doing the same thing they did.
They actually don't. They watch ongoings and relatively recent anime, with cherrypicked older stuff being a relatively small part of the viewed.
Yes
It's a nice counterpart to the "modern anime is shit, golden age is in the distant past" group, which is more pretentious and silly.
I dont watch new anime, cause when i first saw the fist of the north star movie I WAS HOOKED, this was perfection, and i started digging ive seen around 300 ovas and some tv shows, and yes its way better then anything coming out now, my friend told me to watch new shit so i tried some he liked and man they sucked so hard, colors where so dry, this shit make 90s crap paint look like UV lights, animation so cheap i wonder whats even the point and characters didnt have any character, specifically magus bride, that one def girl movie and i think dxd. Shit, pure shit fate too, i realised they where crap, and im missing out on the good stuff, what good stuff the insane waifu/loli stuff, but i just dont care for new anime they cant suck you in. In concision its pretty gay to label shit, and i genuinely think that old anime is the best we ever got, specifically all the random 80s ova's masterpiece after masterpiece, im not saying new things cant be good but so far im not feeling much frm them
Bros... why do ironic weeb boomers exist?
KILL ALL ZOOMERS
man i hate that shit, its like, yeah ive seen old stuff >akira, eva, bepoop im mad at people for not exploring its all there, just look for it you will find greatness
The technology behind putting strings of words together for aesthetic effect is not something that can progress, and therefore Virgil and Murasaki and Cervantes and Joyce had exactly the same opportunity and ability to create a work of art in their medium. The only """"progress"""" that art can have is in its medium, e.g. the invention of sheet music, but if the music from before is then transcribed to sheet music then it is still equal in opportunity. The only art or entertainment medium I can think of where the medium in itself is reliant enough on technology for works under 50 years old to possibly be outdated is video games, but even then SNES era games don't look outdated, nor is the gameplay outdated for the best ones.
Apples and oranges.
People read Homer because it's forced at school. With reason, as Greek literature is the founding stone of our written civilization. Take it out from our education, though, and only a handful of people interested in reading will know about it.
Whereas anime is just a contemporary means of entertainment and its influence in our culture will take very long to develop. Also, many generations in America and Europe, definitively the ones that were our teachers at school, grew up in a civilization that equates animation in general with shit for kids.
People who become really interested in anime, though, often go to those classics and learn to enjoy them. Sadly, for every 1 guy that learns to appreciate the past there are 3 retards who don't want to smell anything else than their own farts, and 6 guys that are casuals who will sooner or later move on to other fantasy genres and think that their taste improved just because they enjoy the same kind of escapism but with real actors.
so much truth in one post.
There are so many shows from the 80's & 90's that are vastly superior to most stuff coming out now.
its very weird to me, im looking at it as unbiast but idn man, you cant beat old, other day there was this amazing thread i posted a whole bunch of recommendations, just see a few
Unless you believe that all art is of equal quality, there must be some metrics measuring it. They may be objective or subjective, they may also be hidden and hard to immediately calculate. The question is how do you find them and how can you make new stuff which is maximizing them. Maybe there is a objective peak and you can't get any better than ancient masters. Maybe there is a way to surpass that peak, and we didn't manage it due to our incompetency (or lack of tools). Maybe there is a progress after all, and modern stuff IS superior (with classics being useful for historical reasons).
true, but where talking about decades here, this non dilemma that boils down to, well i like this if we are to measure greatness go ahead lol, good luck getting no where, im on team old
Be absolutely honest, are you REALLY able to watch post-2000's stuff and not fucking cringe?
Is it all just contrarianism or actual zoomerism?
metacontrarian
Actually I enjoy them more than the modern stuff you fucking tasteless monkey.
I cringe watching almost anything post 2013.
