Since so many people posted their Aikatsu sorter rankings, I decided it would be interesting to gather them all up and find out /ai/'s collective Aikatsu rankings. Since most people just posted a top 10, I took the top 10 from every list and gave each character posts based on their position, 10 points for #1, 1 point for #10, etc. I made sure to exclude a duplicate, the Sekina one, and the ainon that redid theirs because of ties. I mean, I can see that she is a insincere phony. Her comedy attempts are tryhard and cringe. She is a half-baked shallow parody of Pretty Ajimi because Aikatsu writers/execs thought she would be popular, so they copied her.
The main difference is that Nina's 'wackiness' is deliberate act as part of her comedy routine.
But Ajimi turned out to be unpopular and hated by many people. Many calling her crazy, キチ and other cruel names. Discrimination against the mentally ill is cruel, these people can't help being different. Contrariwise, Nina is sane and level-headed. But Nina doesn't have "soul", does she? Whereas Ajimi is very self-sacrificing to save Kurukuru-chan, and loves justice, and is passionate about art, and so on. Actually, yeah, Ajimi's personality would be closest to Otome's not Nina's.
Nina only thinks about her comedy career, and didn't even have a dream until she was inspired by her own smile. She was just bored and insipid until she reacted smiled. I think that Nina is perhaps a little narcissistic and not sweet or passionate about anything. She's a hard worker like Mirei. But, Nina's manzai is not very good. Even Serenon have better manzai. When Nina pretended to fall over on stage, I cringed. It's nice that Nina wants to make people laugh. But Nina's comedy has nothing to say about the world, it's not art.
But Ajimi has much more official content than Nina, several songs, a sexy girlfriend, dream career, and is basically accepted.
I've read some Japanese essay saying that PriPara is a place where Ajimi can naturally exist. She can exist in that wacky world, whereas Nina only exists in some Osaka comedy school and appears in like 3 episodes, I guess because Akarigen 2 was cut short. Even in Photokatsu, not much content for Nina. Is it because she's like the potato girls?
Nina may be an insipid, half-baked comedienne, but I still look forward to seeing Nina On Parade.

Pretty Series has more variety in pop type. I can describe these into 2 loose archetypes.
Sporty Pop: Rhythm, Nina, Emo
Gobi Pop: Mirei, Ajimi, Dia
Dorothy would be sporty pop (but she’s not the protagonist’s best friend).
Ann would be sporty pop too (she’s the protagonist’s blond friend) but she’s into cooking, not sports.
Mirei could be both types (she’s the protagonist’s blonde friend).
Joji is gobi pop (technically his type is not mentioned and boys may not be defined into the same ‘types’ as girls. Just academy style vs street style) he is silly and clownish and it’s partly fake, partly real.
Leona is unique, more ‘Lovely’ personality but is Pop to match Dorothy as a twin set.
Sporty pop, a typical sporty energetic girl with an honest and cheerful personality. It’s a natural athletic girl.
Gobi pop, the more interesting type.
An eccentric or very cutesy exaggerated hyperactive girl who may or may not be fake. May be energetic to the point of hyperactivity. Can be kind of crazy or degenerate.
(Actually, Rhythm goes crazy too.)
I could call it Natural-Pop vs Unnatural-Pop.

The art style really did change, look at Mirei here vs there. It’s a little or a lot more cutesy. The earlier Mirei looks a little more sexy or something than cutesy. In earlier PP s1 there’s a little more “something” like a little edge or sex appeal or the face is more sharp or balanced, but I also love the sugary excess. They’re both great in different ways. But I think a PAF anime would look more like the early s1 style, as it’s more Pretty Rhythm like and less babyish.
The same happens with Mirei as she used “pri” not as much in early s1. But later her saying puri puri a lot for jokes and that great pri meme pri song Pri to Per~fect.

The quality gap of the movies and tv episodes is amazing. They really feel like movies. It’s thrilling. I love the bright detailed movies art and sakuga animation. Compared to the often choppy and shitty and “QUALITY” tv episodes drawings. But, there’s both QUALITY and sakuga.

Man there's so much mystery surrounding this show. To think we still don't know all of the designers 7. I wonder what the original plan was for them? Like, in case the show would only run for one season, would have they revealed them all, or would have they kept them a mystery forever? Or maybe it was always planned to run for at least two years, these things are planned way beforehand after all.
And what is the significance of the Dia games? When Anna and co. arrived, they spoke of Dia and her events like they had sorta heard about it, so it seems like it's just a very localized event, makes me wonder if people across the world even know it's happening, considering prichan is a global network. I've never been to an onsen at all, but I've researched westerners experiences at them and I've read ones that suggest that some of the ones in more touristy areas allow swim trunks. Whether or not that's true though I don't know. I would assume so because I object to being nude in front of friends, let alone strangers, a feeling I'm sure isn't exclusive to me, and if you live in a tourist area doing anything to you can to increase patronage is a good idea.
