If you read through all of Berserk's released chapters in one go, the shift into chestnut helps breathe some fresh, lighthearted air into a series that has been 99% suffering beforehand. It may not be necessary right now since they're literally in the nicest place on the planet, but I appreciate him nonetheless.

i'm not even sure who mentioned this in earlier chapters, but guts has been fighting the otherworld for so long, that he, the dragonslayer and his armor all became somewhat part of that world, which could actually be triggering the PTSD in casca.

Also, i bet she doesn't remember the guts trying to rape her part, nor the times when guts actually fought and bled for her during the eclipse AND ever since then, and reliving each could possibly take several chapters on their own.

Just read this chapter and damn. We are back in OG Berserk territory. We now have classic Casca back. Not only that, but Skull knight is nearby, Guts is slipping into despair again and Griffith just left to do something... I'm guessing it's about time the 4 have a meeting again. Also, I have said it for years now: the lighter tone that the manga has had for a while, is just there to make the readers feel safe and comfortable. Look at the size of the supporting cast. This is not a coincidence. The lighter tone is there to mislead us, while the huge cast is there for an eclipse 2.0. Hell, it doesn't even have to be an eclipse. It can just be a massacre committed by Femto. I'd say we got about few chapters left before shit hits the fan hard. And then there will be no breaks on this thing until it's over.
The question is, does Miura have it in him to kill most of the cast again? And if he does, who will die and who will live? My bets are on the children surviving and most adult characters being wiped out.

And in all of this, I expect the moon child to happen and approach Casca and that thing will probably be the heal that Casca needs in order to pass her sense of guilt and suffering.

The series will end with a tournament arc, where Guts, Skull night and Zodd (who switches sides after Guts beats him) take turns to take on the god hand and Griffith. Then at the end, the idea of evil reveals itself to be the main villain of the story. Guts and Griffith stop their fight and team up to take the idea of evil down. Griffith reveals that everything bad he did, he did as a part of a life long keikaku to destroy the god hand and the idea of evil. Griffith sacrifices himself to weaken the idea of evil, while Guts finishes it off. After that, peace and happiness returns to the world.

I think you have too much faith in Miura. Gut's and Griffith's characters as they are now, given the arcs they've gone through, lack any motivation to bring the plot to a fulfilling conclusion. Gut's doesn't have rage towards Griffith anymore and Griffith succeeded in making himself indifferent to Gut's existence. Any reason Miura comes up with to continue the plot will be pulled straight out of his ass.

I don't know. Griffith is still up to something wicked fucked up. Him being the moonboy and thus Casca's son, ties him somewhat into the Casca story. We don't know all the details about that yet, but once he shows his face near Casca, Guts is gonna remember the rage. Let's not forget all the outside factors that might lead to their showdown. Skull knight is a schemer and obviously up to something. The god hand, especially Slan show interest in Guts. Then there is Guts' behelith, which is just a giant plot device waiting to happen. And even bigger forces are moving the story behind the scenes like the idea of evil or causality/destiny. Guts walked away from Griffith before, and see how that turned out. And even if Griffith is a godhand now and Guts manages to struggle against causality, I still think they are not immune to it. The beauty of the golden age arc was these small moments where destiny intervened to set up the worst case scenario. Back then, Guts and Griffith might as well have been puppets on strings. Maybe they fair a bit better now, but destiny could still set up a situation where they have no choice but to confront eachother.

Her mind was destroyed during the eclipse, they just glued it back together and hoped for the best, it didn't erase the abject horror she experienced

But the Eclipse wasn't completely out of nowhere tonally. It was the apex of Griffith's psychological downward spiral, had heavy foreshadowing all throughout the Golden Age, and hit at the peak of despair for the hawks.

The new party consists of a lot of children and comic relief characters with thick plot armor, and the tragedy purely stems from what's become of Guts and Casca's relationship. We already have PTSD and character driven conflict to delve into without needing to drop a sudden violent purging of the cast out of nowhere.

Any good stories, depth, themes and meaning is entirely coincidental as Berserk is an excuse for Kentaro Miura to draw fucked up stuff, and even Kentaro Miura thinks his own story is shit and will do things like disregard entire chapters he has already published like chapter 83 where you meet God and learn God was created by man as a reason to explain the worlds suffering. Miura also likes to make lots of open threads and then close them as edgy as he can, however halfway through the series he realized how gay being an edge lord is, but is trapted into a dark edgy story because of how he started the whole story. Berserk now schizophrenicly switches tone between comic cutesy antics and sick fuck Awwright story.
