Obviously, it will never get both a good and long adaptation like something like HxH, it'd be too much to ask, but I'll settle for one of those 5 cours+ budget adaptations studios like Pierrot do, it's the only way to make to not shit. One cour, hell 24 episodes just won't be enough/

24 episodes can cover the 6 volumes to end the child arc going at about 4 episodes a volume will ruin the slice of life in the later arcs but it can work as an action adventure as long as it keeps the first volume as a SoL.

Well technically all the little events are part of the bigger picture and chained together.
Mana calamity was caused by the arrival of Nanahoshi, this causes her to meet Orsted which in turn helps Rudeus survive the first encounter.
Rudeus meanwhile meets Ruijerd and gets finally noticed by Hitogami. Sylphy being transported in Asura on the other hand befriends Ariel which later on culminates in the Asura arc helping out Orsted’s cause by
1) having it take the magic route and develop into a nation capable of opposing Laplace in the future.
2. Rudeus could influence a lot of thing in the future thanks to Ariel as his back up he even took off the pressure from dragon king kingdom in the storyline
Hitogami doesn’t let Rudeus go to begaritt on purpose but this in turn backfire since he gets to meet cliff Zanoba/ reunite with Sylphy and so on.

Not that it’s anything out of this world but it only seems like there’s no plot at first however all these little aspects come together and matter when you look back.

Relative to what's in his world he is overpowered compared to 99% of it.

Ruijerd was way stronger than either of them, but Rudy was also much stronger than Eris at that point. By the time he comes back from Demon continent he is strong enough to beat up a possibly drunk and not quite top performing Paul easily. When he starts adventuring he is waaaaaaay stronger than everyone else. Before he even finishes school he has the firepower of an Emperor ranked magican. And once he's left he seems to be on par with Auber. Admittedly there are a bunch of amazing factors that came together for why he is that strong and he did put in the work, but he is still absurdly more powerful than anyone else who put in the same amount of effort as him.

If one compare Rudeus with the average, yes he is insanely powerful but in the series almost one don't feel that because he almost always fights with enemy's of the same level or more powerful that him, there are few times that he fights people more weak that him, the most notable example is when he helps zanoba using the saint magic, in the end of the series, almost every battle end in a draw or lose, and almost every win was in a team battle.

If you compare Rudy to the above average he's still really powerful though from early to the middle point when he leaves school. The fights he deals with later on typically more balanced.
