How much value do you put into visual direction?
How much value do you put into visual direction?
Enough to know that Yamada is a hack.
You cant put value into visual direction if you aren't a director.
You cant talk about anime if you aren't japanese
Very little. I am smart enough to realize that art is entirely subjective and that all claims are of equal value. Akira's animation is not better than Cross Ange's, and End of Evangelions visual directing is not better than Gorg's.
It definetly serves to elivate other aspects of a show but it's not essential. I do admit I am a sucker for beautiful visuals like how i was able to sit through the tragedy that was maquia just becuase i loved the backgrounds
Depends very much on the series.
If your background art looks that much better than your actual characters you've got a major fucking problem.
It's everything. That's why Shinkai is the best director of all time.
