Had ass beaten by an LVL 1 Luffy? Get outta here. No haki? Get outta here. Couldn't turn to sand because he was drenched in blood? Get outta here. No awakening? Get outta here. A little bit of water and any warlords underling could beat the shit outta him? Get outta here. Anyone could beat the shit outta him, good grief. Why was he up there with the warlords, huh? *Spit*
Crocodile weak ass fuck
yah, I really wonder what they are going to do with him as a character later
And people here said >P-P-P-PRE TS WAS BETTER
Meanwhile we get badasses like Big Mom and Kaido in TS, and not giltched characters who will be hard to fix now.
I remember the time people claimed OP was never about power levels
Best Girl
I used to think that Crocodile got the literal will beat out of him, so he wouldn't even be able to use Haki for some time.
Now I realize that I made up that bullshit myself when I looked back and even fodder-tier characters on that Amazon island can use it. Learning Haki is like kicking down a door, it stays unlocked via that method no matter what. It's not like Nen in HxH where it's possible for techniques or even oneself to manage to lock Nen away.
So I just really guess that back in Croc's early days, he fucking Caribou'd himself and thought that he'd have an easy time because he had that logia intangibility. It's implied that Croc was a lot like Luffy so I do think that he went straight into the New World totally unprepared and it rocked his world to the point that we know him as the cynical and hard faced asshole we know him as today.
Crocodile was clearly awakaned. Turing the ground to dust is a clear sign of his fruit being awakened. About haki you could argue that maybe his spirit was so broken that he couldn't use it back then. Pretty sure what oda will go for. Crocodile knew about haki since he was wondering if luffy really used it in their fight,so maybe he decided to not rely on his df so much after getting stomped twice
and yet he was super relevant in marineford from attacking whitebeard, to saving ace that one time and squaring off against doflamingo. This hakiless sandman looks a lot more impressive than most of the post time skip losers
>Crocodile knew about haki since he was wondering if luffy
When?
Power level =/= good character. Fucking brainlet.
>About haki you could argue that maybe his spirit was so broken that he couldn't use it back then.
Also, just a reminder too that having Haki doesn't mean that it's an automatic win against logias or other DF users... For most haki fighters, it just means that you're able to hit logias. Crocodile was already clearly a powerful fighter on his own if he was able to be considered a shichibukai.
It's when luffy hits crocodile for the first time using water
>Couldn't turn to sand because he was drenched in blood
Yes, bingo, exactly, dingdingdingding
Same as Enel vs Luffy; you can have the best DF ability in the world (literally), but if you fight your hard counter you're as good as dead
Reminder that Luffy beating Crocodile was the hugest asspull in the first half of OP ever. Just remember how Luffy "turned back to life" after his second defeat, or the whole bullshit of blood used to hit him, I mean, it's not like Luffy was heavily bleeding all the time, he fought most of the fight with dried-up blood. I'm sorry to say, even if it was one of the best fights in early OP, it was still a huge asspull, and I've thought that even the very first time I read that, 16+ years ago.
No. He assumed water, not haki. That was when Luffy realized he could fight him with water. They later showed the bucket with water that Luffy carried.
I think you're wrong, I even remember a SBS about it.
Except it's literally the opposite. He assumed haki and then realized it was water.
I always liked the idea that crocodile was using his awakening to dry out Alabasta , preventing the rain. Also hoping that since polls will was so great he gained Haki and with the combination of his devil fruit he was able to survive the bomb.
But it was stated recently in the Katakuri fight that you lose haki ability if you lose composure. And about learning Haki, someone has to teach it to you. Even Luffy didn't learn Haki unconsciously, if you don't meet a teacher you don't learn it for a long time, and if you do meet a teacher you can learn it at a much weaker level.
Where!? Seems crucial.
He didn't say nor think in a thought bubble that he misunderstood. Seems like a stretch. Occam's razor.
There isn't a real power level problem with Croc, anyone who thinks so is just way too far removed from the arc. He curb stomps Luffy multiple times and throws the last fight they have in multiple ways. Luffy wins him to hammer in a theme, Crocodile accepts loss easily even compared to other villains. After astounding success, Robin tricks him into thinking all his efforts were for nothing. In effect, he's already loss before his last fight with Luffy because he stopped giving a fuck. When they fight, he chooses to stop using his devil fruit power and take it to a game of fisticuffs against a rubber man. Luffy wins because Luffy challenges him again and again until both chance and circumstance lines up for him. Crocodile loses because he stays down and gives up the moment things fall apart no matter how well they've gone so far.
>Luffy wins him to hammer in a theme,
The theme being that Oda is a hack and that anyone that defends this is braindead.
He is simply a victim of the power-level scalating and Oda having to come up with something to nerf the logias.
It was more fun when all devil fruits had some weakness that could be exploited.
I remember the time when OP actually had fights
>girl
Agreed, probably the biggest plothole in the series, later he is fighting on par with Doffy(Marineford) and holds his own yet he jobs to Luffy who couldn’t handle Doffy till post-TS
Oda is good but he isnt perfect
One Piece is Dragonball Z now, hell even Dragonball Z started as Dragonball. Unless a person planned every single detail from the start of every arc there would be no way not for this to happen
