It's quite obvious that's a front he's putting just like how Hina considers herself merely to be his older sister. They quite clearly have more than lingering feelings for one another but are suppressing it.

Him finally accepting that Hina lied to him on the island after finding out the rings. The things is, he does have his doubts after her drunken confession but has always shrugged it off as a misunderstanding from his part. He never confronted Hina despite saying that he should. He just doesn't want to look over the fence as the truth might be too bitter to swallow for him.

This When he heard Hina's drunk confession of still loving him but taking it back as a joke, as much as he decided to focus on Rui and move on, he still kept thinking about it for while, before letting it off as not possible. If at that time he had the rings shown to him, he would've had actual proof of being true and probably would've at first mad at her and eventually either really accepted she is the one he loves or that he really was over her.
The rings even appeared on her mind this chapter, so it's coming, wetter that makes him realizes he still loves her or not.

He still has lingering feelings for her, at least I think so. But hes 100% sure Hinas over him pretty much. The only thing that could change that would be her confessing but if she does it's a huge loser flag, so she won't. Nat will find the rings and it'll go from there.

To be honest, the best thing for Hina at this point is to confess and I think he will reject her.

I think that Natsuo hiding feelings of love is uncharacteristic and I'd be really surprised though pleasantly so if he was. When Nat has been in love, he knew and we knew too.

Of course he is still attracted to her but I don't think he's in love with her. I think Sasuga is going to allow the new Rui to get another chance with Natsuo while Natsuo has to really deal with the loss of Hina in any capacity because I think she will stay away from him in the future.

I really don't want Natsuo to find those rings first to know that Hina still loves and always loved him. That conversation he had with Shuu really messed him up. He stopped believing that he was worthy of her.

That's why, when he saw the hairclip from Rui, he took that as a guarantee that the obviously messed up Rui loved him and would never leave him. When there were red flags that the relationship was not working, he just ignored everything and stuck by her never really trying to address the problems with her. Let him have to fight for their love and trust in it.

The rings, accepting that Hina did lie to him. Also the girl who wins will be the one who brings him back to writing. He isn't hiding them, then are buried over the belief that Hina is long over him. This doesn't mean that he doesn't have any doubts after her drunken confession. He never confronted Hina about it though, despite saying that he will. What's holding him back if he is over her? There are only 3 major instances I can point where he has felt something inclining towards any romantic feeling since Hina's return. When Hina hugged him in the hospital he felt the moment when they hugged in the sea, when she touched his scar he felt it and when she touched his hand and was about to express her feelings he did seem like someone who was expecting something. Then we have hina, the last person who would ever confess to him.
