For me the only downright bad thing about the episode was the bizarre way they changed what Thorfinn said when he demanded a duel. The anime makes it sound like they haven't had a duel after the one they had when Thorfinn was six, but later on they point out how many times they have actually fought so far. So either they 1. just suddenly switch back to them fighting constantly which makes this change in script pointless or 2. for some fucking reason change the entire story so that they only fought the few times we saw in the manga, which makes no sense and ruins the whole point of Askeladd knowing Thorfinn's every move because of their countless fights.

Thorfinn didnt beat Thorkell at all.At their duel Thorkell gave him a second round and Askeladd helped. Also the reason Askeladd never lost a duel to Thorfinn is explained in the manga: he knew him inside and out, so it was easy to read him. He wouldn't be able to do the same against Thorkell.
