the movie was better than the second season

1st season offered a glimpse into our future. A lot of people compare it as derivative to GITS and it touches on a lot of the same ideas (mass surveillance, replacement of human to human interaction with machine interface, unchecked AI, thought crime, social inequality masked by corporate interests,etc). I enjoyed it for the OST and at times excellent animation. I felt that parts of it were dragged out unnecessarily. Akane is a great protagonist that breaks the mold of female lead in this ocean of moeblob isekai who becomes a badass in her own way and serves a contrast the classic gunslinger Kogomi. Overall, its a great watch and if you have normie friends is one of those shows that you wouldn't feel publicly embarrassed taking about.

I didn't think so, the scenario change didn't worked out for me, I couldn't care about that country and it was just an excuse to reunite Akane with the guy. Second season at least was an honest follow up.

first season:
most of the run is just comfy but some episodes by the end are genius, like a thing happens that can only happen in that setting and it's incredible. Most of the shows is often essentially "bar fight in medieval village/space/with demons" etc, basically setting is almost interchangeable, here there is stuff that is very setting-dependent and very interesting.
Most of the characters are enjoyable and looks and sounds good, cool twist cool character progression.
season two/movie:
serviceable, meme galore but for me it's more interesting than most stuff out there

Fucking great series and the movie is awesome. Just do not watch the second season it does not have Gen Urobuchi at the helm. Which makes it look bad.
