Are you sure you meant to post that instead of R.O.D TV?
potatos last tour was so good, and that includes the ost
mfw all the osts I dislike are the ones Yea Forums loves
Any Kill la kill song
I like it very very much.
Next time, post a piece from the OST you like. Thread isn't going to stay up very long with people only posting images.
Good taste.
MiA ost is quite nice, but I wouldn't call it the best of all time. Pretty safe and mainstream choice though. Also, I'm going to say it now: Hanezeve Caradhina and Underground River sound gay, it's the rest of the OST that makes it so good.
Also a good choice. The OST has a really unique style, it fits the show perfectly, but can stand on its own just as well.
Agreed, 2 months and Tomorrow are my favorites
How does Kekkai Sensen have so much SOUL?
*hits Xylophone*

also this one gives me shivers, the way it was used in boogiepop was phenomenal

GitS: SAC and SC 2nd GiG are amazing
Not only really good music for cyberpunk, but generally great listens while working, and it really captures the mid-noughties technological zeitgeist IMO
lol
It's ok. I did like this song a lot youtube.com
I can appreciate that tracks like Hanezeve and Underground River sound refreshingly different, at least at this point in time, they suit the eerie scope of MiA really well, too.
Though like the other user said, "Tomorrow" is probably one of it's best tracks, I think "Welcome to my world" is also really lovely.
>despair starts

Aria
I love the Giant Robo soundtrack, it's very cinematic in a John Williams sense, with his love for marches.

One of the best
I only like the ED, the rest is bad.
Yosuga no sora is pretty good
youtube.com
I think that overall Shield Hero has a better OST then MiA
Make way you plebs.
Both composed by Kevin Penkin.
His style meshed perfectly with MiA and worked well with ShieldBro.
Pic and Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon's soundtrack
This
These ones are especially good. Very solid choices overall. I hope I will be forgiven for bumping this from the page 10, I just want to listen to more OSTs.
No Yuki Kajiura, no Yoko Kanno? What is this?
Arjuna is Kevnin Penkin's favourite anime ost. Check it out.
"Technodildo" is my favourite track of the ost
I respectfully disagree, but still have to inform you that the only thing that sound gay is you.
The idol songs in Macross Plus
desu, that's the only good song on that ost

Great anime great OST, I fucking miss this show so much.
That's very subjective and hard to choose, there simply is too much good music coming from Japanese media. Here are some of my current favorites that haven't been mentioned, yet.
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou: Quiet Country Cafe OVA - by Choro Club and Taku Iwasaki who orchestrated some of their original melodies. For me, the whole OST is memorable and there isn't a single bad track.

Ima, Soko ni Iru Boku - Taku Iwasaki again, doing what he does best. I only found one track on Youtube and a few on soundcloud.

Casshern Sins - Kaoru Wada.

From the ones already mentioned, I really like Haibane Renmei, Giant Robo, Berserk and Aria OSTs. First time hearing Romeo x Juliet OST and it also sounds pretty good. Here are your well-deserved (You)s:
, , , , ,
Best OST is in nardo.
Sick! But why is there no "Konya wa Hurricane" on that album?
Aye that one is definitely up there.
From the most recent ones, Trinity Seven was best
youtube.com
then there's Black Bullet, Texhnolyze, etc... too much good stuff
I think each episode got its own ost release, that was for episode 2.
youtube.com
Usually not a big fan of orchestral OSTs, but those Casshern Sins tracks are beautiful!
No, the ED is good too.
cmon don't tell me everyone forgot about this one
youtube.com
that was a lot better than expected, thanks for sharing
I stand corrected.
I agree with this without a hint of facetiousness. Most OSTs at best only have a few standout tracks I love. For MiA's it was just a handful like Maul/Crucifixion that I *didn't* like and a bunch that I loved.
Excluding all the obvious fan favorites like Hanezeve Caradhina, Tomorrow, Pathway, and Underground River (which are all god-tier), some of my other favorites:
First Layer - youtube.com
To the Abyss - youtube.com
Made in Abyss - youtube.com
In the Blind - youtube.com
New World - youtube.com
This has been my ringtone for over a year now - youtube.com
Very respectable choice. Guts and Earth are god-tier.
Also a very solid OST. Bizarrely so.
It's just repacked Pillows songs but I still fucking love it.
Crunchy.
Thank you, I listen to classical and orchestral music almost exclusively, so I'm glad you liked something even though the overall style might not be your cup of tea. I believe the tracks from Casshern OST aren't really typical orchestral pieces. They aren't trying to sound grand or overly complex, kind of straight to the point with their focus set on the sole motif. Simple, but very charming.

Kaiji's OST gets me so fucking hype and tense. What is it with Japan and drugs? He did nothing wrong.
Gatchaman crowds is pretty baller
One of Kanno's best, tracks are so good
G-G-G-GA-GATCHAMAAAAAAAN
That OP got me into Juno Reactor. Some of their songs were also used in the Matrix soundtrack
I like how diverse this OST is, my favorite tracks are the calm ones and piano pieces.

Top contender.
Yeah, I think that's it. I listen mostly to video game OSTs which, in general, tend to fit that description.

not the best but I watched Aoi Tori recently and that ost was fucking amazing
SHIT taste. Mia ost is objectively one of the best osts in history of anime. On the same level of Saint seiya, berserk 97 and SnK osts.
Madoka () is Yuki Kajiura, GitS SAC () is Yoko Kanno.
GitS
anything by Yuki Kajiura is usually top tier
I don't know about best osts but some of my favorite songs were from Pandora Hearts
It has a lot of boring songs but the actual good ones are memorable

Of course it depends on what kind of OST we're talking about, since there are different anime/music genres, so naturally some have more action packed or serene music
For example, Kimetsu no Yaiba has some amazing works by Yuki Kajiura
youtube.com
Ping Pong OST is good stuff
I forgot how good the Madoka OST was. It took a listen to it removed from the show to truly appreciate it.
A big portion of my collection comes from video games, especially old Square Enix games but mostly orchestrated versions. I can almost always feel the nostalgia even though I haven't played quite a few of them. Again, music from Japanese entertainment in general... I don't know how that relatively small country does it.
Best song though? Yellow Line, Redline Day, and the remix of Machinehead are all top tier
Scanty&Kneesocks' theme tho
Nice tracks. I especially love her vocal stuff (though really everything by her is great).

There was an interesting youtube video by adam neely on jpop and jazz recently, where he touches on what makes japanese music sound different. worth checking out
Not sure how the whole OST holds up, but there are some fascinating songs on it.
