Went to the US premiere of Presage and a random showing of LB. Premiere was not too bad, some annoying laughing but not too bad considering Sudo and Noriko were there.

I am never doing a random US showing again, it was awful.

Scenes get cut, especially in movies. Who knows why weren't added back for the BD.

There are only 2 releases for Lost Butterfly and one of them is the raw BDMV, the other is the remux with eng subs.

Still a shame how hard Ilya got shafted in this, removes all her impact, really from the entire VN, since the whole thing kind of built up to her having her moments in this route. Also didn't like the fact they barely even implied the effect Archer's arm is already having on Shirou. I guess that's why I always felt these adaptations would have no real way of doing justice to the VN, outside of maybe spicing up the fight scenes.

But aside from that it'll be nice to watch again without all the fucking retards in the audience. I legitimately don't understand. I've been to regular indie "art-house" movies before with explicit, prolonged sex scenes, nobody made a fucking peep. Dead silence really throughout the movie. But every anime movie I've been to has chucklefucks non-stop sperging. This was the worst though, every single scene with anything even approaching the topic of sex had people stroking out. The sex scenes were done super-tastefully as well. Sure, I could understand that, but then I feel like they also cut or skip a lot of things from the VN that they ought to include, if they were exclusively targeting that audience. And since everyone knows like 96% of the people watching are actually secondaries or worse, just surprised at some of the choices made, as I think it severely lessens the impact of things that will happen in the 3rd part(basically anything involving Ilya, including her rescue scene, Shirou taking off the shroud, etc.)

My Malaysian theatre had some laughs at the sex scene, but that may have been because of the obviously hacked up job the censors did on it with random skipping and camera zoom ins to hide naughty bits while still trying to somehow making some narrative sense.

He believed that being part of a magus lineage made him special, that he was better than the "commoners". The revelation that not only was he unfit to carry on his family's legacy, but that Sakura, and outsider, was brought in to become the "true heir", fucked him up. And then Sakura showed him pity and that fucked him up even more.

As an example of how weird the censors can be, they skipped one frame in the Prisma movie that showed Miyu's pantsu for like a tenth of a second. at the start of Your Name they skipped the slow camera pan up Taki!Mitsuha's bare rear instead going straight from clothes dropping -> EEEEEEEEH? But Taki!Mitsuha's nobra titties bouncing in slow mo on camera during basketball and self-groping was left untouched. In the SAO movie Asuna's bath scene had the camera zoomed in on her face super close, and strangely enough they did the same in the scene where Kirito lies on top of Asuna in bed even though they were fully clothed, they don't usually go THAT far. The NGNL movie only had a tiny bit of censoring, during the bath scene where the camera zooms in to show them only from the neck up, even though Schwi is also naked in other scenes (and straddling Riku in one) they didn't touch anything else.

To be fair, only mentally ill hikkiNEETs (the kind of audience who plays eroges) ever cared about virginity, even in Japan. Sudou giving the line extra emphasis and making it the climax of the scene compared to it being brought up matter of fact in the middle as one reason among others in the VN was pretty awkward, since even Japanese viewers found the whole virginity thing dumb and out of place.

In what way did it "destroy" it? It's not necessarily entirely a negative when I said any of the anime adaptations couldn't fully do something like a VN justice, it's just a fact of the different mediums.

And that's once key difference from the VN. While Sakura was clearly the main heroine of the route, Ilya still played a pretty central role, and I just think her scenes in the last part won't carry as much weight without a few of the moments they cut. I don't think adding them would have necessarily distracted from Sakura either, since she played a different role anyways in this route than Rin or Saber did in the others.

I was talking in general about the adaptations, in that case the scene was from UBW, how they cut Rin and Shirous sex scene from near the end. Again, I'm not saying the adaptations are terrible or something, just that they naturally have issues from having to switch the medium of the story.

Possibly, they could have maybe done more with it with more time.

There are still a lot of places and cultures that do place at least some value on virginity for both parties I'd say, probably even to some extent in the US, at least among a few people. All things being equal, I'd say most people would probably prefer someone who was a virgin over not, even if they weren't themselves.

It's not placing undue emphasis on something, but you don't think a young teenage girl anywhere who has been raped since childhood and then feel in love wouldn't regret that her first time couldn't be with that person? That Sakura wouldn't have taken that as one more thing to blame herself for, that she internalized she was too dirty for Shirou? I'm not sure why you'd compare the reception of people who'd bother to spend the time to read a long VN vs. secondaries, but people never really had a problem with HF, beyond maybe some complaints about the pacing, the rest was mostly memes. It's just a pretty different take on the story compared to what people had experienced the first 2 times, which some people may not have been expecting.

She only bears responsibility for what she does as Dark Sakura. What the Shadow did on its own is not Sakura's responsibility at all. This is what a lot of retard don't get.

She wasn't aware her nightmares were real until Gilgamesh attacked her, and she made a point of not falling asleep again after that night. There's nothing to blame her for, since she knew nothing about the grail shards in her.

I wouldn't say people hated it, and to say it was all "purityfags" just isn't true. As I mentioned in a different post, it was just different that what people were expecting. I enjoyed it for it's alternative take on the story, and obviously the back-third non-stop climax was great as well. But I don't think I really came out if it liking Sakura a whole lot more than I did going in, like I did for Saber and Rin after Fate and UBW. Sakura's for a large part absent the rest of the story, and in her own route, she's mostly either bed-ridden and not present in a lot of scenes, or slowly losing her mind in others, or is the active antagonist, in a form. She was n't the cooperative heroine the others were.

Which is fine, as her role was meant to challenge Shirou's ideal, having him ultimately abandon it for someone he loved, something he had to do to save them. And again, I still came out of the route loving her personality and her as a character, I thought the true end was an amazing cap to the entire story, with her finally having happiness, which was something you rooted for the entire game. In the VN, Rin had a bigger presence, but in the movie I don't think it would make sense. The movie has really been more about Sakura and would be only fitting to get her POV (or Shiro's) at the end.

If you're asking rhetorically, then probably what said as well as. It's was a nice bit of symmetry to have it wrap with her giving the final thoughts. If you're asking why in he context of the plot, coming from the proceeding scene, it was a timeskip to about a year and a half down the line I think, and it made sense to have Rin kind of narrate the interim events since they were heavy on consequences of the grail war re: the magic association, plus it helped provide some perspective that I think switching to Shirou or Sakura wouldn't have. Dunno, kind of hard to describe precisely why it works best as her, but in my opinion, it fit pretty well.

The normal end has Sakura narrating, and that was also honestly excellent, I couldn't imagine it being done any other way then what they did with her in it.

Normal End is better. It's the price Shirou pays for throwing everything away for Sakura. He makes up for the sin of endangering the world, letting innocents die and killing Saber with his life.

Sure, Ill just use the camrip subs as an example. When the shadow is charging it's attack, in the fansubs Ilya says "It's building up mana" where as in the official subs she says "Magical energy is gathering.

When Shinji is about to rape sakura at the end and is talking about telling shirou, in the fansubs he says "About how much we fucked right here!" where as in the official subs he says "About how obscene our intercourses have been!"

When shirou is talking to sakura out in the rain, in the fansubs sakura says "Where is someone like me supposed to go?" where as in the official subs she says "So where are you saying someone like me can go home to?"

The problem is essentially that the translation is extremely literal and has no regard for how the sentence actually sounds when spoken in english. Ironically it's very reminiscent of the original translation for F/SN, and at this point everyone is aware of how shitty that was.

It's an edgy ending though. It's not honest in the sense that it's not true Shiro has to choose between Sakura and the world. He can save both and he does so.

Hopefully someone will release an encode with both subs maxed in.

Not him, but that's only due to Ilya literally performing a miracle. It's outright stated that that was what it took to save him. So to say it's edgy isn't right, it's just the normal, natural outcome of the choice he made, which he accepted the moment he took off the shroud, really the moment he decided to protect Sakura. Hence it being the normal ending.

I've tried getting the camrip subs to work but the problem is there seems like there's a delay that slowly gets bigger overtime. The rip subs start out fitting with a delay of -12.5 seconds, but over time that gap gets bigger. There might be an easy way to make it work, but if there is I don't know it. Not too familiar with mpc subtitle functionality.

That was never what it was about and if that's what you think was Shirou's core issue, then you're already heavily mistaken about him from the get go.

Entire city blocks of people were killed by the shadow. There were already hundreds of victims. Regardless of whether Sakura desired it or not, her very existence was killing innocent people every night. And she would continue to kill more people in the future. When Shirou decided to side with Sakura, he was basically saying that even if more people continued to die around him, he wouldn't leave Sakura's side. He was allowing Sakura to kill more people because he didn't want her to die. An Ally of Justice would never be allowed to make that decision, and that's why becoming Sakura's Ally means throwing away his path of becoming an Ally of Justice. That was his first sin.

His second sin was killing someone who'd done nothing but support him. When Saber was consumed by the Shadow and blackened, that's partially on Shirou as her Master. And when he killed Saber, that was him saying he's willing to kill someone important to him so long as Sakura can live.

All the people who died in Heaven's Feel were people that Shirou abandoned in favor of saving Sakura.

And why do you thin Ilya did that? She was inspired to do that. Inspired by Shiro. And let me tell you that people who give up are not inspiring.

True ending is better because Ilya pays for keeping her mouth shut despite knowing everything and kept Sakura, Shirou and Rin in the dark.

They're not horrible, they serve the purpose of letting you know what's being said without being inaccurate. They're not just how normal human beings talk, so it breaks the immersion to read them.

Shiro didn't commit any sin. It was never truly his responsibility to save anyone. And he never truly wanted to be a hero either. That was just his way of coping with survivor's guilt. The reason she chose Sakura is because she was able to fill the emptiness in his heart. There was no need for him to sacrifice himself for an ideal that wasn't truly his anymore.

Since there was no sin, there was no need for any punishment either.

Would it have changed anything? Maybe if she said something early enough, which she herself acknowledged, she said that if Shirou had said what he did to her earlier things might have ended differently, but at the start she had no reason to help any of them, and later on, it was too late.
