No it doesn't. Zero was written with the entirety of Fate in mind, read Uro's author notes in the novels. It's a trainwreck and the hype only adds to the experience.

Its decent to see saber story animated, but they added bits from ubw and from hf in a very bad way (the bondage sakura outfit is anime original for example)

I started off with zero/ubw and then played VN and regret it, because fate route explains a lot of the world building and knowing about kiritsugu, sabers past, catalyst, einzbern, grail mud, gil, kotomine ruins a lot.
made reading fate sort of boring and the beginning but momentum picked up after the first h scene.
same goes for UBW, HF is entirely different though and picks up around day 4.

I'm like the only person who liked it but I started with that not knowing anything about the franchise.

The main reason I tell people to watch UBW first is I don't want their first exposure to fate to be a fucking spin-off that's not even by the writer. It steals the excitement of seeing Fate world-building for the first time, so they attribute it to Zero itself resulting in the accursed species called a Zerofag and we need less Zerofags in the world.
