I guess I don't like them: they're always depicted as very naturally-talented pompous racist motherfuckers or cock-sleeves. It's never somewhere in-between those two.
IMO Dungeon Meshi has depicted them the best way. Even though they're depicted like the former I mentioned, there's a sense of a realistic reaction from the rest of the world to them. When the elves are brought up, it's easy to get into the sense of separating the world to just two categories: Elves and the rest of world. Like people want to avoid dealing with Elves cause they're more powerful than the other races, lack empathy, and they're annoyingly pompous. When people do deal with an elf, people tend to make it clear they have a disdain for them. It's great.
