Manga vs anime

I find it much easier and satisfying to read manga than it is to watch anime. It's hard for me to sit through an anime series compared to reading it. What are some cases where an anime is objectively better than its source material? What series should both the manga and anime be observed for peak enjoyment?

Yea Forums is not for recommendations

This isn't a recommendation post. It's opening discussion for the differences in manga amd anime as mediums, and that cannot be done without bringing up examples.

Fuck off to /wsr/

I prefer anime for the sound and... well... animation.

Because it's easier to read something in Tachiyomi in your smartphone, then to download a torrent from nyaa and watch it in your PC/Laptop.

They're entirely different artistic media and so I don't think they should be compared in that way. Or, I think it's a mistake to view manga and anime through the same critical lens.

Manga is easier to find where you were and takes more time making it more relaxing but anime has cool animations, scenes and more times which give you that weird stupid feeling (talking about bey blades burst, the dudes ego makes me cringe so hard)

Anime sucks. Manga rules.

vinland saga anime is being great, i'd say on par with manga currently

>that weird stupid feeling
That's a big part of it for me, now that you point it out. I can't stand characters embarassing themselves or doing autistic otaku tropes in speech and actions. It's much easier to bear in manga form.

I agree that they are different art forms, but they often tell the same or highly similar stories with the same or similar visual styles. It's valid to compare-contrast their strengths and weaknesses in doing so.

Ping Pong

There's loads of these to be fair

EAT shit

Most anime have pretty slow pace. Characters talk slowly, there's long pauses in dialogue and other time filling tactics. Reading is quicker and you don't feel like your time is being wasted.

Anime can be pretty fucking amazing but most aren’t.

I don't watch any shounen Anime anymore not because they're bad but because they're too long. They somehow take a five-page fight scene in the manga and turn it into 15 minutes in the anime. Just got no time for that anymore.

Anime is good for series that rely a lot on emotional dialogue/scenes. Good line delivery and background music add a lot.

And since it's much easier to get a manga published than anime getting made, there's much more variety to manga; there's manga about pretty much every fucking thing, setting and scenario you can imagine. And the most interesting stuff never gets adapted into anime.

Manga easy
>no filler
>no drawn out fight scenes , quickly gets the point
>no censoring
>better art (most of the time)
There are only very few animes that are better than their manga counterpart

Anime only filters inappropriate scenes (an example is 18+ content) some mangas also filter but is less common due to it being unnecessary, however I can see where you are coming from, sometimes we all feel like we want to experience the entire scene without fat bars and blurs

Technically if it's in the manga it isn't filler by the exact definition of the word.

I meant filter as in graphical content - A lot of people don’t see profanity as a big deal as it is something which is used publicly, in tv, outdoors, indoors anywhere (however that is controversial, some people are fully against it and take extreme offence) but i’m pretty sure anime does not have censored profanity unless stated otherwise, however to over come this there should be an option on anime streaming service to turn on/off word, graphical and other kinds of filters which annoy users and the community. This feature also has the benefit of bringing more people to the community, however those people would probably people from the south park and family guy community, looking for drama/sensitive topic comedy. The only good benefit - expanding the community in size, age ranges, backgrounds and views (like these ones that we are all sharing with each other.) What do you think of this idea? What do you think of my view, I’m sure to reply to you, mainly because this is a thread I like and I think has a good reflection of both formats, challenging the positives and negatives of each other, showing the different views of the communities on their preferences, showing the other side their view

Filler != filter

Mate why reply to me when my entire post was about filtering

I think this is only ever the case with 4koma manga or where the manga is bad and the adaptation is drastically different.

If a comedy anime improves on the art of the source material, has great voice acting, and nails the timing of the jokes, then I'll recommend it over the manga even if it cuts out some plot unimportant gags along the way.
