Why isn't it possbile to replicate the cel painting from the 80s/90s with today's technology? It's a shame, because these colors had much more soul than anything from the 00s

Wasn't that part of the gimmick with Megalobox?

Also I think the third OP for Gundam The Origin TV series did a neat late-70's/early-80's style shading bit.

About two-thirds of the way through.

fuck off with this literal who, this doesn't even adress OP's question moron. stop spamming this shit

Who is that?

Traditional has millions of little imperfection that make every stroke unique and introduces wonderful texture, something that's really hard to reproduce digitally. Your art is constrained by the paints, brushes, cameras, film you use, something that can be entirely bypassed by digital. I think a happy middle ground would be digital anime with some trad backgrounds, like Flip Flappers. Though I do wonder why newer anime don't try to emulate/copy the color palette from older anime

There is nothing that digital cannot do. Digital can do everything traditional painting can do and more, including capture the "cel" feel, which in reality were the result of flaws in production. A lot of old anime had terrible art, there was a lot of samey coloring, and that is directly a result of the process being very expensive and time consuming. It could take hours to finish coloring a cel, in addition to a lot of money to buy that paint. They can finish painting a drawing in minutes now digitally. And there's plenty variation in visual styles they would simply not have been able to pull off before.

>There is nothing that digital cannot do. Digital can do everything traditional painting can do and more, including capture the "cel" feel,

this is complete and utter bullshit.

Keep being delusional.

Thanks, you are right. The correct sentence should be

>there is nothing 3D CGI cant do.

give me some examples

G no Reconguista was done by a crew of veterans and they wanted the show to have that old school cel anime feel.
It worked somewhat.

The industry actively tries to avoid those imperfections today with heavy filters.

officially the best looking tv anime of all time. It does not need to emulate cells to btfo all of hem

then, can you show me an anime from the past 5 years or so that was able to capture that cel feel?

No, because the burden of proof isn't on me.

it gets some things right but overall its nothing in comparison to cel.

Looks fucking awful.

What did they actually do though, besides the noise/dirty filter on the lineart and other dark colors?

forced animation

Too many visual affects which serve no purpose and actually distracts from the quality of the artwork.
Might as well just rub that Vaseline on your television screen instead of using it to jerk off to how great VEG supposedly looks.

Fulfilling anons obvious rape victim fetish, who said people do not enjoy being forced?

Why is it whenever people talk about 'cel painting' they always use high budget OVAs and movies?

>why is it when ironic weeb boomers talk about the past, their knowledge is limited to a given top 50 list they found in reddit
Gee, I wonder.

nice buzzwords
