She wasn't that bad until the final arc with the giant invasion, but then again pretty much everyone and the manga itself went to shit in that arc.
She enabled Kurono's character development which not only was pretty legit but also made the manga significantly more enjoyable.

The vampires, izumis death, that smartass kids death, god, the alien invasion we're all random schlock that meant absolutely nothing.
And that ending..holy shit was it bad.

He goes from a complete asshole who couldn't care less about anyone to a much more proactive and responsible leader who does his best to ensure everyone makes it through the nights. It took literally everyone dying in the third mission (which included his childhood friend) and an alien attacking his school for him to realize he needed to shape up. Tae solidified that and helped him start caring for others, and at that point the manga stopped being endless chapters of dozens of people standing around and going "what should we do?" and had people actually doing shit. I'd also not consider Kurono a Gary Stu since even after he becomes a leader he struggles like crazy to get shit done and at one point even fucking dies.

Lol. I love the hate Gantz gets because to me it is quite literally perfect. It's been six years since I finished it, and no media, film, anime, etc, has come close to how much fun and joy that I had from reading Gantz. It was so over the top, so fucking insane, that I don't know if anything could equal it, let alone surpass how awesome it was.
