Not bad I suppose, but I'd prefer if it was more "mystical" than realistic. There are some interesting concepts in the Nordic pagan religions that would work as a setting for a longer viking series and they'd give the story more substance than just hunting, sailing and raiding. WSJ isn't really the right magazine for a more realistic historical manga anyway, so some kind of fantasy elements are almost a necessity I'd say.

Isn't it relatively common for oneshots to end up being serialized? I can't speak Nip but this page looks like it's explaining the MC's origins or showing a relative of his doing something weird in order to establish him as someone special. It's not really necessary to give the MC a special backstory for a 40 page oneshot, so I'd say the author is actually aiming for something bigger here. I suppose it will come down to the audience's reception, but judging by some of the recent axefuel it doesn't seem like the bar is set very high.

Sometimes, if the reception is good they get serialized or get the author to do another oneshot with the purpouse of serialization.
This one has Gotouge backing him and kimetsu is hot shit right now, so that's probably why he got a decent chance.

No. Most oneshots never get serialized, heck most do not even get published anywhere. With some luck it will happen. It depends if the author is still interested in the idea and if the reception is good in Japan.
