One of the things I like about his manga is the art, which is probably the case with pretty much everyone since it's fucking awesome. But it's just fun to look at, I mean most manga the art serves the purpose, rarely is it so visually pleasing just to look at on its own. Of course there are other great artists that have a style which creates this as well but Sei is a great example of it, from the panelling to the character design, the movement and everything else it great; just the right balance between realistic and 'manga-ish'.

Itoh Sei's inking and style is top-notch, he'd been drawing/writing for decades with multiple successful serializations under his belt by the time this came out and it really shows
I've also yet to see a mangaka that can draw monsters/animals as well as him, and I'd also argue that his anatomy and paneling is easily in the top 10

I really enjoyed his little blogs about how he designed the Dokaku soldiers and where he took inspiration from. I think his designs are so good because he simply puts a lot of thought into the why and how of it all.

Magazine Z(Kodansha) got canned which ended the original run. It transfered to a different publisher to continue but it was web-only with no archive of older chapters.

Correct, Its also probably a major reason its taken to long for translations to start, raws for anything past vol9 didnt exist till recently when the tanks got scanned.
