All might chose poorly

all might chose poorly.

This bastard couldn’t save a child. Meanwhile Deku ran to save a kid with no quirk

>tfw you want to express your villain Mirio idea in art, but you're shit at art so it just comes off as a 12 year old being edgy with ms paint and not playing with the tropes of how shallow his heroic stance is, and his meteoric rise to herodom, vs. how much of his world has been rocked and how he'd maybe crumple if enough went wrong like this greentext I made a year or so ago
I really wish I'd evolved beyond my 15-year old fanfic self, but fuck it, embrace the autism I say, bring on the cathartic cringeposting.

Context. All the more possible because of all the resources they just got in the latest arc so IDK maybe third semester's going to be tragic.

>All Might gives Mirio One for All
>Mirio gets shot with the quirk erasing bullet
> One for All is gone forever

If he had One for All he'd never be in a position where he'd even get shot

He'd have bitch slapped them into the dirt if he had had OFA, especially with the Quirk bullshit we know of from OFA now.

Except he'd still have thrown himself in front of Eri to save her and taken the bullet

Yeah Bnha is kinda normie now.

No, he'd have just zipped right in using his new found leg power and zipped away in time.

I want him to become a hero that travels frequently and goes on adventures like Tintin

>now

it's been the new naruto for 3 years, attracting all kinds of amerimutt undesirables in its wake

>Oh no people like a thing
God I'm sick of contrarianism.

Not really. At the end of the day Deku was a pretty good option and he could have chosen way worse. He has the spirit, the brains, the drive, and a lot of knowledge. I'm sure Mirio would have been a better choice in most respects, but ultimately it was an alright decision. Plus having Izuku and Mirio both be heroes is ultimately better than having just Mirio, as they're two of the best prospective heroes in the series/world.

To top it off, now Deku has to live with the weight of making it worth it in a whole new sense. He has to prove that All Might wasn't wrong - and he has to be the best he can be to make up for it if he was.

>the drive
>sat on his ass for fifteen years never training his body to save people

Sorry user I don't see it

To be fair, 15 is the ripe time to start training your body.

I see everyone constantly complaining about this but I want to set things straight: He gave up. He tells himself at the beginning that he wouldn't and he acts as though he's trying but for all intents and purposes he has clearly given up by the time All Might shows up - he's just lying to himself. He lived his entire life with everyone around him telling him he would never amount to anything and he listened; he simply couldn't believe in himself strongly enough to think all of them were wrong. He had probably stopped considering alternatives to manifesting a quirk in early grade school. It was only after meeting All Might and being told that he could do it that he seriously gave it thought again. From that moment he has drive because the person he admired and respected most told him he was capable - told him he was worthy. It's not a story about someone who never gave up on himself and promised to prove everyone wrong. It's not about someone who never fell, but about someone getting back up.

That said, the existence of Knuckleduster (as far as I know considering I haven't read Vigilantes) does do some damage to this idea. Not irreparable damage, considering that these are different people and circumstances, but making it look possible to compete quirklessly is a poor choice. It is worth considering irrespective of Knuckleduster that Izuku looks pretty short and has a weak build, so he might have been shafted in the genetic lottery in other ways.

Also this. The other kids probably did some stuff but if they did any serious training - especially weight training - prior to turning 13-14 then they caused themselves some serious long-term damage.

Why? Deku is great.

Knuckleduster is an ex-hero who was dequirked. Also hes a pill popper to deal with the pain.

Well that makes a significant difference. Honestly that makes me more interested in reading Vigilantes - the main concern for me was that it weakens the themes and emotions of the series proper because of Knuckleduster. But as it stands this means the universe is consistently clear that the path to heroism is sealed pretty tightly if you don't have a quirk. Even if you could succeed as a vigilante you wouldn't be able to make it into a hero course and become a pro - so long as the series stays consistent with that Deku giving up isn't unreasonable.

he's also the son of AfO which allows him to use all the quirks of his predecessors

I don't think there's any way to make it unreasonable unless they totally retcon some major things like having an openly quirkless hero or him having some past support that he turned his back on for some reason.
