Is it good?
Is it good?
Yes and AOTY
yes.
try giving it a watch
No, it's pretty fucking awful. There's a few decently animated fights but that's the beginning and the end of the good points. The characters are terrible and annoying, all the most interesting elements get zero development and play zero part in the story, the main villain AND main hero are both just plot devices that do whatever needs to be done for THING TO HAPPEN
And most egregiously, the OP is fucking terrible. That's one thing you just cannot afford to fuck up.
>And most egregiously, the OP is fucking terrible.
and right there your opinion becomes invalid
Anime
Hey man, if you like mediocre hip-hop thrown haphazardly onto an animation clearly not made for that song that's your deal.
It's a shit intro.
First episode didn't grab me, nor did the main character, but Sam and the tiny robot are cool.
Casey is just random japanese cuteness, but SAM will get on your nerves after a while.
The show at the very least needed SAM and Kelby to be likable but Kelby is a douchebag and SAM is obnoxious
> thrown haphazardly onto an animation clearly not made for that song
which is like most short 12 episodes series,
>It's a shit intro.
sure bro
Yes
I really shouldn't be here, Ive only watched 1 episode
Watch episode 3
>end of episode 3
>titty bitch finally shows up
>time for them to establish that she's a good villain
>"SAM should lead us right to Kelby and she has an escort"
>"Good. Kill the escort. That way SAM won't get to Kelby and our plans will be fucked"
>"OK. I am retarded."
>which is like most short 12 episodes series,
No, user, 1-cour anime don't have shit intros as a rule. That's asinine.
youtube.com
Just watch this shit. There are so many visual strikes and flourishes with no accompaniment, it's so fucking awkward. Even just the first few seconds are so goddamned empty they'd be better off chucking in sound effects than leaving it at the one low rhythm.
Then the music changes to a new section, but the visuals are halfway through the character montage when that happens - it's out of sync. Then the PRESS START screen occurs and the mech sequence starts and instead of shifting the music right away it waits until halfway through THAT and does a weak, jazzy, powerless horn line. One that, just for good measure, doesn't line up with the title card flair.
The next section is much better, but the decision to keep the instruments muted and both instruments and vocals super laid back and staccato once again clash with the energy of the animation. Simply elongating the vowels would fix this section.
Then the animation kicks into full gear combat mode, and again there's no change in tempo to match the animation. It just sticks with this low key funk that has no energy at all while animu characters are flipping around and shooting beams and exploding shit.
Then the ending bridge is rushedly slammed in, again at the wrong spot (it should be at the transition to the car on the highway, not a random couple of seconds before), and the smash cuts to each character again don't match the tempo of the song.
ok fair point, don't know if they didn't have time to make new animations for the opening or were just tired, but the song is not shit
>the song is not shit
Yeah, I can agree with that. I'd even call it catchy. It just doesn't match the visuals at all.
I don't get it though why were the ending visuals better than the opening's?
what is this nigger shit
The ED visuals look like concept art
>LeSean's crappy fake mango from 2004 gets a full studio-production anime
>Fred Perry continues to be blackballed
I thought they just do porn.
That's how they make their money for sure, but technically they use an alias for that.
Fred's been putting out comics for a really long time
>The 12-episode series was directed and written by LeSean Thomas, with Natasha Allegri, Anne Toole, and Nilah Magruder writing scripts alongside Thomas
Not anime
No and it hurts even more to think how many real anime could have been funded with the budget instead of this unoriginal and cheesy garbage
If this is anime then so is the last airbender.
and it's not
>but, like, what IS anime!?
Fuck off
I usually stay off Yea Forums these days but after finishing the 'first season'(as this ends on a cliffhanger):
Expect a mash up of references to better shows. Like, literal mash up. I liked how they did the characterization, it's too bad the plot went absolutely nowhere. I mean literally no where.
It's filler past episode 3. Episode 6 has Philly have a moment of vengeance hunger so he finally agrees to take SAM to Gara's Keep, which apparently he knew the location of all along. You don't find out any hints about why he knows where Gara's Keep is until episode 11.
There's a fat female black side character that betrays the prince/notGuts combo. Then she betrays again. Then dies. This is over the course of an episode.
The red faced '9ine' samurai literally teleports back into the plot in episode 11 for a fight scene in which he doesn't even use his sword. The narutoad ninja gets punched by not guts.
And if you wanted a moment of awesome where you get Philly punching Rayman bitch and there's a bunch of drawn lines, it's there.
>“(Thomas) is one of the best storyboard artists in TV animation, and his ‘Cannon Busters’ story is 100 times better than many anime,” he says. “It’s just great cliffhanger storytelling
It did have some well-don parts to it. It's not 'bad', overall, and some episodes and definitely the dialogue have charm to it.
But, after watching it I felt the need to explain exactly why this show is bad, and for the future victims who happen to watch Cannon Busters, I can sum it up like this:
What kind of show with a giant robot bull uses it a total of three times? A show that uses a giant robot bull for the scenery. This is an compilation of better anime.
Now, I did enjoy it and marathon the whole thing, which is why I'm posting here in the first place. This show didn't need to be bad.
>t hurts even more to think how many real anime could have been funded with the budget instead of this unoriginal and cheesy garbage
>its another unoriginal and cheesy garbage
>at least 3 unoriginal and cheesy garbage every season
what are you really complaining about
The show wouldn't be so bad if any of the characters were likable in any capacity
Also if the villain weren't completely justified in taking down the asshole king and his douche of an heir.
Anime is a term used to describe cartoons made by Nips. The term helps people know what to expect of the product due to the difference in taste, culture, and writing.
As this was written and directed by some westernfags it's not anime. It's a cartoon
I liked all the characters except Kelby who got brat treatment. There's really no excuse for having six episodes before your main character decides to start caring about the other two main characters though, even if only for revenge reasons. I think that's why people might hate this show, Philly is a genuine, absolute asshole with a few redeeming traits sprinkled through the episodes.
SAM didn't have a character beyond naive princess. Casey got his suicide episode.
to be fair gold digger is very autistic in the literal sense
thats their pen name?
that's the name of the comic
it has japanese voice actors and credits, how is it not anime
Must be 100% nippon made apparently.
Not anime. Stop spamming your fucking show all the time, faggot.
Disney movies have Japanese voice actors, you cretin.
>Disney movies have Japanese voice actors, you cretin.
I really hope its not race you're talking about
Disney makes Japanese dubs of their movies for the Japanese market.
Doesn’t make them anime.
Get a grip, troglodyte.
so then this is anime
I have literally never made a thread about this show before.
