In the end, it was good for both of them to come out clear that early. It was good and fun while it lasted, but both of them don't seem the type of people that would be willing to pretend to be someone they aren't not do something they don't want.

That's the evolutionary imperative, which is distinct from the meaning of live. Instinct drives us toward the biological imperative, but it isn't particularly purposeful, and as conscious beings we possess the willpower to resist it. Life has no meaning other than way you choose to give it. Most people find purpose in love, work and play. Monogamy is the way most people find best to express their love.

Mind you, Retsuko would have even been fine with not being married, but at least having kids together, and he still didn't want that.

that is true but there is not really any point resisting it, atleast not for women. men are more prone to finding meaning in other things because we're expected to build status in the society. women don't have that pressure because they're evolutionarily primed into relying men for status.

That's an extremely arbitrary line to draw. "Status" is not an evolutionary factor, but a more modern concept, and history has not been a line of women waiting patiently at home with no function other than rearing children, especially not when you look at primitive humans. Women have always played an important social role and contributed work to benefit community. I could just as easily turn this around and say men have no purpose in doing anything but killing and violence because they are dependent on women to form a society.

I disagree. Status has been always a thing. There are high status men in a group who are looked up to and bring value to the group by decision making, knowledge and humor. Then there are low status men, those who can't adapt to the group, who bring the group down and don't bring value except for the bare minimum. The misfits.

Both men and women are important to the societies and small groups and naturally both work hard, there's no reason for idleness. Women can't build status alone, however, which is why they must choose a male of high social standing to bring more stability for their offsprings and family life. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's a much larger part of loner men who don't think of marriage, whether they're too busy building wealth and status or choosing a life of religion and celibacy or just being unfit and leaving the society to live alone.

Women couldn't choose to live alone because they're weaker and more suspectible to threats, so they'd have to rely on a man or a group of other women for protection. Meanwhile a man living alone in the woods could easily do so without having to worry too much about getting raped, kidnapped or killed.

At this point I actually don't want for them to end up together anymore. She rejected and ignored him so many times. He did so much for her, and she never really cared. She doesn't deserve him. And it pains me to say that cause it was my favorite (though obvious) ship.
True endgame is pic related. Hopefully Retsuko can find someone too, but I wouldn't count on it.

Retsuko wanted to settle down, get married, and have children one day. Tadano didn't, therefor there became conflict. Retsuko wasn't going to force Tadano into a life that he didn't want, and if there's one sacrifice, there's always going to be more. It was the same situation as Resasuke, where Retsuko would have to keep quiet and get Stockholm Syndrome, which Ton noticed immediately and called her out on, knowing that she clearly wasn't happy with Tadano thinking that marriage was pointless. The Season literally spells it out for you, how in the ever-living fuck do you cunts struggle to understand this shit? Christ.
