There are plenty of things that can be just as good as Serial experiments lain, saying that there is nothing as good is incredibly narrow minded.
Lain was a good philosophical discussion, a good mystery, and a good cyberpunk story.
One thing it was not however was a good comedy. does this make Lane bad? Fuck no, it never tries to be a comedy.

Things can be good for different reasons and just like Lain is not bad for not being a good comedy other things are not bad for not being a good philosophical, mystery cyberpunk story, there can be other things that makes them good.

People like different things and just like some people don't like Lane and others do, it's the same for any other media.

Go watch some thing else and don't try comparing it to Lane, it's not lane, it never will be and comparing it to something it's not is doing any media an incredible disservice.

My advice to you is find something that seems fun or interesting or something that you might enjoy. It doesn't have to be the best thing ever or even great.
If you don't enjoy it look for something else, if you do enjoy it then thats great and you never know it might surprise you.

It's hard to describe, it begins with a girl who the MC knows to some degree killing herself. Later on the MC finds out that the girl might not be dead at all and during the course of the anime the line between the real and the virtual world gets blurry.

Everything is perfect. Each single frame has a meaning. The sound direction is wholesome. You can't find another anime like this.
Texhnolyze is good, starts off brilliantly, ends even better- but the middle of the story with the gang plot wasn't nearly as interesting.
Haibane Renmei is average at best

they feel like an anthology to me each dealing with a different form a transition. Lain is insersion, renmei is ascension and texhnolyze is destruction
