GITS-lite for plebs.

Perhaps the greatest sci-fi series of all time.

The original manga has yet to be surpassed as the best GiTS product.

It's great.

It's very good. It also FINALLY try to give some spotlight to peoples who aren't togusa, major and bato.

it's great. I'm rewatching it and the music sticks out to me much more now that i know what the show is about

First season was better IMO.

damn right

Can brain activity really be digitized and swapped out between various carriers? Are you anything more than an AI or robot at that point?

Copied, not swapped out.
For swapping you need sorcery. Ask the channeling agency.

>Are you anything more than an AI or robot at that point?
That's the whole question the series addresses (but doesn't necessarily answer).

What's the difference between the consciousness that just developed in the Tachikomas, and the consciousness in humans?

You can put the former in a silicon-based modular body made out of alien DNA technology to increase the karmic growth of the planet, whereas human consciousness sucks at modularity.

>whereas human consciousness sucks at modularity.
Not in the GiTS universe

Motoko said so in MMI. Aint adapted to the sort of stuff she's planning with space alien goo.

S2 > S1 because I find it hard to care about some plot revolving around big pharma.

>MMI
Huh? Is this something I haven't seen?

Rather something you haven't read it seems, anime-only friend.

Me too, got super hooked when the laughing man storyline was introduced but was disappointed as fuck when the conspiracy revolved around some vaccine. Also how does it make sense that the DEA would act as a death squad that murdered people who uncovered the conspiracy and that the prime minister would willingly go along with it for a while. Made no sense.

Yeah, totally stupid that some big corporation would made shady deals with the government and that said government would try to cover it with hitsquads, especially in a not-so-bright future.
I honestly have a hard time to believe you're not baiting, but to each his own.

to be fair, MMI is pretty bad

>anime-only friend
Correct. There is no need to read GiTS. Only watch.

Fucking retards,if you are americans you are double retards because similar shit has been happening in that country for decades.

I finished watching 2nd GIG yesterday. It was really depressing that both Tachikomas and Kuze died. Also, it felt kind of abrupt how fast everything went down after Gohda got shot. Like they ran out of budget and had to wrap up immediately. I also re-watched the 1995 movie and and I'm in the middle of watching Innocence.

It's said that S.A.C. is set in a different universe to the movies, but didn't the Ghost hacking skills that the Major used in multiple episodes come from the puppet master A.I.? And at the end of S.A.C. 2nd GIG it looks like she leaves them behind, so it could be technically followed up by Innocence. Furthermore, the 1995 movie happens before S.A.C. and Innocence happens in the same year 2nd GIG finished. So it seems like the intention is that it could be semi-plausible that S.A.C. is canon?

Then again, in the 1995 movie Borma and Paz basically didn't exist and Saito was merely mentioned. And Ishikawa's hairstyle was unrecognizable in Innocence.

Fucking based & /thread

Make sure to watch SSS.

Yeah I'm watching SSS after Innocence since that happens chronologically after.

It's an alright theory, but it's generally assumed that manga, show and movies have each their own continuity.

Manga Major best girl

That's full-on bullshit right there.

Why didn't they at least kill Borma? Not like people would weep for him but at least it would give his character some purpose.

What about the PS1 major?

Whos' Borma?

Fat bald guy with fake eyes like Batou.
He specialises in explosives and demolitions, IIRC.

PS1 Motoko is same as manga Motoko, still best girl. We need an anime series with manga style and characters.

It's very good.

Why was SSS so bad?
Did the IG team get dissolved?

Borma = wannabe Batou

Too far ahead of its time to last.

in the manga he actually does stuff, but only once; he's the one who saves Motoko from the big ol scorpion tank by shooting it; and later he does a hit-and-run on the boss of section 1 to avenge her.

I thought season 2 was weaker than 1. I didn't particularly care about the individual eleven and there were only like 3 purely stand alone episodes which was lame, every other episode tied to the main plot somehow.

Not for long though. It gives paz and saito focus episodes which was cool, but otherwise still mainly focuses on those 3.

I wish the section 9 recruits subplot had been expanded more. Felt like they only existed so one of them could die under the major's watch

That's because it's exactly the case. It's a subplot lifted from the manga except the dude died under Batou's watch instead.

Are there any official releases worth buying?
