So, after all, should we consider the 2019 adaptation as a flop?
What does Yea Forums think?
Boogiepop
Yea Forums doesn't have enough information to judge what shows are flops or not barring a few spectacular successes and failures.
don't know if it's a flop but I enjoyed it. Although, I feel it's better to binge it because of how all the episodes are essentially pieces that all fit together at the end of an arc.
>OPM S2 died for this
I really liked it, Something different to enjoy to your regular seasonal shows.
Also the Boogiepop voice is just orgasmic.
Very, very nice!
It was enjoyable and I'm glad I didn't skip on this.
I don’t know if it flopped but I really liked it
Why are you saying that like it’s a bad thing
This was the absolute best outcome.
This
>Make a really interesting PV
>Use 2 scenes from it in the anime
What did they mean by this
First arc was a good pleb filter and the show is best to binge arc to arc, I really didn't understand shit until the last ep of each arc.
I want another season/10
I didn't finish it because I got that impression. I'm planning on watching it in one sitting sometime soon.
Imagine snow melting every spring.
Does a flop mean "a show I didn't like"?
Then yes.
>First arc was a good pleb filter
Having all the worst episodes at the start filters most people. Episode 1 was one of the worst things I've seen this year.
It's a good job they released 2 episodes at the same time so it could slightly recover from that without having a week inbetween to consider dropping it.
They fucked up the first book and i stopped watching after that
At Dawn was kino
>Episode 1 was one of the worst things I've seen this year.
Episode 1 was outstanding. I was under the impression that the whole show would be gradually peeling back random events out of chronological order until you had a complete understanding of what had gone down. Instead the storytelling got a hell of a lot more simplified as it went on.
Boogiepop Pandora movie when
>Google play only has the first 6 books
Shit is expensive too.
the threat is gone takeda-kun
It's not like I don't like the idea of things being out of chronological order and slowly piecing something together.
The issue was that first episode built up no interest or intrigue for me. It just followed the most boring character and events in the entire series. He managed to make Boogiepop feel like a boring character just through having to interact with him.
I'd put it alongside Pastel Memories in terms of bad opening episodes.
bubble > imaginator > fire witch > pigeon > fear ghoul > president > manticore
where?
Toilet-Chan is cute
Suema is ok
Why are the novels so good bros
I honestly thought the first arc would be 11-13 episodes of the same story playing out in the same chronological order, but with different characters each episode so you get to piece the whole mystery together and by the end you have a complete picture, maybe revealing a more secret sub-plot underneath it all. I was super down for it.
Instead they rush through it in 4 episodes to get to another arc, which they then also summarily rush through. There's no time to really digest story or the atmosphere because the show had ADHD and needed to get to the next story which it then fails to give good closure to. One kid becomes a gay stalker and then gets Mike Pence'd and this series of events all transpires HALF an episode, when the character is easily interesting enough for a full POV episode or even more.
It actually picked up and got interesting near the end because it was able to tell a story at the pace it needed to be, maybe the writers took some meds - then the show is fucking done with no closure that ties any of the previous stories together. I understand that if you read the Novels and understand Boogiepop is an anthology, you can expect it to move on with not much fanfare, but as an anime only watcher it really fucking baits and switches you and i'm very salty about it. When you adapt stuff you seriously need to make sure you're not accidentally misleading people about the nature of the story you're adapting, it can happen very easily without external proofing.
Overall it was good, but it had all the material and time available to be genuinely unique and interesting and it settled on just being okay for no real reason.
It’s kadono
Why is boogie so cute
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Nearly every seasonal show is a flop by Yea Forums standards nowadays, but when they did a marathon stream in Japan it got decent viewcount. Plus, if this adaptation isn't totally reviled in Japan, which it isn't then it basically accomplished what it needed to do which is celebrate Boogiepop's 20 anniversary and sell more LNs and merch.
Personally the show is my AOTY and I'm glad to see it getting more attention and that Yea Forums is slowly coming around on it
>spoiler
Same
>getting more attention and that Yea Forums is slowly coming around on it
I'm pretty sure it's the exact same people that were praising it when it was airing that are still doing it. I doubt many new people have been added.
I guess the number of people who read the original LNs triggered by the 2019 anime and want to talk about them is increasing little by little.
It was shit and a flop.
Aoty
The duality of man
I want to mating press a manticore
I bought her books and want a 1/7 scale figure
>and want a 1/7 scale figure
This. Where the fuck are my bubble figures.
She has no genitalia, lad
Same unironically
>We have a snow in april this year.
Based.
No idea how well it did financially but I dropped it after 5 episodes cause of how poor of an adaptation it was. Maybe someone who hasn't read the books could enjoy it for what it was but it was really disappointing to me.
>OPM season 2 died for some chunni faggy shit
Fuck this gay earth and fuck japan.
peak aoi yuuki
It was a fun anime.
Boogie Aoi turns my dick into an enemy of the world.
>She has no genitalia, lad
In her true form
>still mad
Based Jin-Niisan
The anime got better for me around ep 6 when the production values started to improve and then steadily got more enjoyable after that. I'm actually reading the LNs now, and while many of the changes from book to anime are admittedly disappointing it doesn't diminish my initial enjoyment of the anime.
One Punch S2 would have been mediocre because of the source material anyways though.
Most Lnfags weren't triggered by it. Most Anons that watched it were okay with it too. Also, most of the few that got "triggered" were suspiciously lacking enough info. That's how it is around here from what I see.
>capeshit
Didn't the show get trashed on by youtubers, that might have something to do with it
Get fucked Muratanigger.
That one user that read the untranslated LNs, does Suiko properly appear again? Not the flashback or backstory kind but the proper one like in Imaginator novels. Or was that her actual end?
>Also, most of the few that got "triggered" were suspiciously lacking enough info.
Those were probably Phantomfags pretending to be LN readers
Go back to your shounen general, Pablo.
What’s her endgame
So far, she hasn't appeared "properly" like you say since imaginator arc.
Being batman
The OP is stuck in my head
Yea Forums will not be able to answer this because the prerequisites for piecing together plot points across more than 3 episodes is way too much for the average brainlet
the show was a decent 7/10, nothing too spectacular, but very refreshing
Well shit then. RIP Imaginator.
What I always thought what was badly handled is how students are dying left and right and no one really cared about it.
Imagine
Boogiepop is way too 90s.
Even in old Yea Forums times Boogiepop was never popular on Yea Forums.
