Moefag here, the animation and the music are cool, the story is laughably bad and none of the characters are charming. It's a meh might as well watch it while waiting for El Meloi II/10.

A 9/10 means it's able to be comparable to stuff like OPM 1, MP100 2, SnK 1, 98% of Kyoto shows, SD, etc. It isn't comparable at all.

Ufotable made it, take that for what it's worth, they are already well known and reknown for high production value and beautiful stylized animations, with dogshit writing, crappy story boards that don't flow well with the pacing or timing.

You usually end up with beautiful garbage that makes no connection with the viewer unless they are the most simple or simple.

KnY is probably their best work soo far, the first decent thing they ever did was fate:Zero which was pretty well done and was not very creative as it was more or less just fate:Stay reproduced with better stylized animation, and that's been their studio pretty much summed up, a bunch of dogshit and a few fate remakes

if you don't like KnY by a few episodes in then you might as well just drop it, it's just a well produced shounen series, and it's doing shounen well

but if you hate shounen it isn't like it will just magically become something else, it is what it is and it's done well and probably deserves to be Ufotable's greatest work soo far

I was hoping the story would be straight-forward when I started watching it not knowing anything. As soon as I saw the school uniforms and they started doing side-quests it was doomed to never be about saving his sister.

I wish Nezuko would fuck off. Biggest problem for me is that she only sleeps and is stronger than demons that eat and fight daily. And let’s not forget O my mother’s ghost gives me demon blood jutsu.

Honestly I'm tired of this style of writing. Where the characters get some flashbacks in the middle of a fight to unlock abilities for no reason. Why can't they show the characters acquiring those abilities first and then show it? That's what makes logical sense, they can then refine their skills during combat but not just pull everything out of their asses.

It's a decent shonen executed well. Not too generic but not well-written either. I mainly enjoy it for the animation and artstyle.

Kimetsu no Yaiba is pretty mediocre at first, but it gets its legs in the Spider Arc when it embraces its horror elements.

Writing is complete garbage, I've seen most of those Jump "new wave" anime, and this one is clearly the worst of the bunch. It makes Black Clover looks like it was written by James Joyce.
It's not only utterly generic (not my biggest gripe, it is a Jump series after all), but it stinks of rookie author mistakes. Story is written as moments (chapter by chapter?) instead of being properly planned which results in poor plotting and incoherent themes. Characters are forgettable and boring.

It's bad.

This series is quite packed full of mid-fight power ups and asspulls but the overall story is still entertaining so i dont mind it that much.
Hopefully the next work of the author will feature a lot more unique powers.
