These are some pretty bad subtitles. Almost seems like an opinion piece rather than a translation

Who makes the subs for this? Funimation or crunchyroll themselves?

What makes you think that the manga translation is better

Because I can read the original.

Both translations are making an assumption, it's never clearly said who she's showing off to.

>caring about subs
できない

Attached: tenor (2).gif (320x320, 1.87M)

I think the anime translation is better, though.

She's talking to Naruzou.

Whichever you prefer, it's incorrect and they're obviously being political.

The only thing that's "incorrect" is that they assumed the pandering was to the audience. Which seems like a pretty obvious implication to me.

She says nothing about pandering in the original line. The word is more like flattery or flirting.

Why don't you ask /int/

How the fuck is this political? Nobody said anything about patriarchy or objectification. Pandering isn't political, it's a marketing tactic.

Attached: i.jpg (400x285, 33K)

Because they completely changed the context of the line to express their opinion on fanservice instead of just translating what is said. If I just happened to stumble upon this then they're probably doing it a lot. Who would know? If you're watching with subs then you don't speak Japanese and would never notice.

What is their opinion on fanservice?

That it's nothing but pandering to the audience.

But that's the definition of fanservice.

> The word is more like flattery or flirting.
It can be translated that way, or it can be translated as trying to fain someone's favor. In this case(as in the audiences), pandering seems like a fair translation.

The whole point of these scenes are that they break the fourth wall. What do you think is happening?

Pandering has a negative connotation while service has a positive connotation.
To perform a helpful service for someone as opposed to pandering to their immoral desires.

So you think she'd say "fanservice" even though she's clearly against it?

There is no breaking of the 4th wall in what is said in Japanese. The audience is never addressed even in implication.

Fanservice often has a negative connotation, too.

No it doesn't. Fanservice can be anything from sexy girls to detailed closeups of mechs or vehicles.

I think the anime translation is more accurate.

エロを前面に出した解説 (An explanation that highlights erotism) で (by means of) 露骨に (obviously) 媚びて (pandering / currying favours) きた (came)

My translation: There you go pandering to the audience with your overly erotic explanation!

Of course, the subjects are not stated, and I don't have enough contextual clues to be certain.

t. fan translator

If you can't read context, you can't read Japanese. She's not fucking talking to Machio, it's the first lesson of the manga/anime and she's tsukkomi-ing about the sudden style change (earlier in the scene) and the fact that it's erotic to appeal to the readers/viewers.

Why are armpits so sexy?

They're the crotch of arms.

The 4th wall is pretty clearly broken on the previous page, though. That's the point of Sakura's Tsukkomis. What do you even think is happening in this scene?

>媚びて
She is the subject, not the audience.

You keep thinking that.

OP, you idiot fag, you don't even know what you're talking about.

We're not talking about the previous page, you're moving the goal post.

So you think Machio is literally drawing this lesson/filming this lesson and portraying Akemi erotically in an attempt to flirt with her? Because that's what you're arguing.

So... He's somehow coming on to HER by making HER do sexy post while HE explains how to do bench press?

How does that make sense?

It'd make more sense if she, whoever her name is, is modeling in a sexy way to try to come onto him or the audience.

...

The previous page frames the context. You know "context", that thing that is essential in reading Japanese.

I hope OP is trolling. If not, then I feel bad for him.

>It'd make more sense if she, whoever her name is, is modeling in a sexy way to try to come onto him
This could actually be the case judging by what it says and her heart pupils.
Come on.

Make all the excuses you want. The subbers are taking a typical manga style joke and turning it into bawww this show is just pandering to the audience with this fanservice!

These are some pretty bad muscles. Why bother watching/reading it? The main gimmick is supposed to be girls with muscles, but all of them are lanklets

They ARE pandering to the audience with this fanservice, and Sakura is calling them out on it. That is literally the joke being made. The subs are completely accurate.

I saw him in one of the rare moonspeak funposting threads we had yesterday
Now he's made this thread because no one responded to the bait in the main dumbbell thread, kek

>This could actually be the case judging by what it says and her heart pupils.
I just looked at the actual chapter and I don't think that's very likely because the black hair girl, whatever-her-name-is, is not wearing the same clothes as in the demonstration as she does in the story. The whole demonstration likely did not take place in universe and is just added graphical context to the verbal explanation the buff guy gave. Therefore, blatant fan-service by the author.

It's also plainly impossible if you just look at the line. The line (エロを前面に出した解説) cannot be referring to Akemi as she's not the one explaining.

The amime staff truly didn't respect the author's love for underboobs.

Agreed.

>Jokes are now "opinion pieces"
I fucking hate post-election 4channel.

go fuck yourself leftist

Back to your containment board.

Attached: why are you here.jpg (1280x720, 328K)

Stop trying to change my original point.
What I'm saying was the original line was just a typical lol ur a hentai joke and had nothing to do with "fan pandering", which is a term we've already heard many times from progressivists when they whine about how problematic anime is.

u might have brain damage

Dekinai

>pandering is a politically charged term
I want ESLs to leave.

The author is poking fun at himself for using sex to make working out appeal to the reader. That's it. No one is trying to brainwash you to their side, no one is complaining about your hobby, just relax.

It's ok, user.

You should be ashamed of calling yourself right wing when you care more about feelings (damn libs infiltrating mah anime) rather than facts (the anime translation is correct, the manga fan translation is wrong) that multiple anons tried to explain to you.

Re-evaluate yourself.

Fuck off, you're quite clearly retarded.

Attached: 1524330669689.jpg (358x357, 83K)

Imagine trying to complain by using a garbage ESL translation as "proof" they changed a line, while also not realizing you're hoisting yourself with your own petard by posting the original version, which literally proves the anime translation is accurate.

The anime translation is not accurate.
I even ran this past a Japanese friend to be sure.
His response was
>"I just realized how it is cringe to say the audience as the line
in anime
the manga avoids that cringe by not mention whom to fawn on"

Your Japanese friend can't read English because the fan translation claims that Machio is fawning on Akemi, which is nonsense.

>people are so desperate for outrage they actually think this is a problem worth complaining about
Literally social justice cultist mentality.

I think I'll trust an actual Japanese person's opinion on this over crunchyshit shills.

>I even ran this past a Japanese friend to be sure.
>Source: my ass.

>I'll trust a Japanese person's opinion on this English line that he clearly misunderstands on a level of basic comprehension
You do that.

You'd think a /pol/tard would be familiar with confirmation bias at the very least.

Your "friend" is retarded. If they even exist, I seriously doubt they're anything other than an Asian-American retard.

As familiar as I am with ad-hominem arguments.

It's not ad hominem you retard, I'm pointing out you're fucking blind to arguments.

>It's not ad hominem you retard

Attached: niggo nii.png (307x315, 98K)

The translation is fine you retards.

I was hoping we could instead talk about pits in this thread.

Some would say OP is the pits.
