I guess when you get older you get tired of the chaos, randomness, and edginess on Yea Forums so you flock towards social media that is more controlled and mature like Facebook or Reddit.

In other words, when people are young they reject the establishment, but when they get older they become ("accept") the establishment. It's already happening to me, I'm 25 and I find the once appealing anonymity and chaos of Yea Forums to be now quite predictable and boring. I browse this place less and less, and when I do it's only in serious good threads, which honestly makes me question why I don't just leave Yea Forums for a properly moderated community, where I won't have to dig through shit to discuss something, instead.

Anime used to be a cultural niche. Even back in 2007, if you wanted to watch anime you had to put up with a lot shit. It was a small community and Yea Forums was pretty close to its center for a while. Fansubbers were active here, and the heaviest users were people who were serious hobbyists.
These days anime is so easy to get into, it may as well be television or video games. Practically everything is subbed and available with a few clicks.

I think idols are ok on /jp/ but there's some stuff that just blatantly shouldn't be there.
