It's a different "world" but still the same characters. So canon in that they're the very same characters that get put in lewd situations but not canon in the manga's original storyline.

They were never scanlated. Also Seven Seas hasn't given them a digital release yet (they announced the entire Vampire Bund franchise is coming to digital platforms but haven't given a date yet). They were originally released at Comiket with the approval of Nozomu Tamaki, they're considered canon and included in the series timeline.

What makes you think the mangaka don't want to push the envelope with certain characters and series, but can't because they have to tow to the magazine/publisher editorial line? Where do you even draw the line anyway in what's whoring or not? Is defined nudity in the tank whoring of it's censored in the mag? Is it simple fanservice? That's different for everyone. I don't remember what series it was, but people got fucking pissed at Kyoani for doing a fanservice page in Newtype and said they were whoring the characters out, but they were just in swimsuits.

Technically it is, because the author is the only one who holds the artistic rights for their stories. It's like if they drop their current magazine or site and start publishing in other place. It would still be official.
Also, doujinshi are literally just self-published works without any publisher behind, they can be as 'official' as anything else.

'Unofficial art by the official artist' takes longer to write than 'official art'. Calling it official is probably incorrect in many cases, although sometimes being able to tell what counts as official could be difficult without knowing exactly how rights are controlled. If someone just wants to look at art that will match some anime/manga it can't get any better, and what's technically correct doesn't make much difference. The correct term is more important when the artist needs to not anger a publisher.

The only way SnS can redeem itself is with doujins.

It probably depends on any contracts and who owns the rights. Someone drawing an adaptation probably has less ability to do it in general than someone drawing a manga they wrote too, and different publishers would have different requirements.

Even that would benefit from having some less official art with more explicit sex, but that one is very good with how it includes sex.

More official doujin for VNs would be nice, although the artists for those probably frequently get forbidden from making them or just aren't as interested if it's something done purely for money and they don't care about the characters in it.
