i just finished fate/stay night after 100 hours and tsukihime 2 weeks ago. holy fuck i'm not going to lie. this is probably one of the coolest concepts and worldbuilding accumulated over the years he wrote them.
but why did he just stop after fate/stay night and not introduce any new entries? universe is so cool with vampires and mages and you have everything from sorcerers to demon hunters then the author just stopped?
was it because fate/stay night was so succesful that he did not want to make a new VN entry i know mahoyo exists but no choices.
not yet, not sure if i should start kagetsu tohya or hollow ataraxia
Adam Russell
He’s working on that mobage right this minute Probably for the best for us EOP fans
Austin Flores
Incels hatebombing him over HF and Sakura back in the day made him stop giving a shit about putting effort into his stories and instead just write vapid pandering spinoffs for easy money forever.
Camden Bell
kagetsu tohya requires you to do every route of tsukihime and play the tsukihime plus disc, so unless you haven't done that i'd recommend you hop into hollow ataraxia.
Hudson Robinson
>was it because fate/stay night was so succesful that he did not want to make a new VN entry Yes. /thread
Joseph Wood
>this is probably one of the coolest concepts and worldbuilding accumulated over the years he wrote them. It's funny how it really easy to tell if someone genuinely tried to praise something because they like or when they're just trying to fit in.
Guess which one were you.
Angel Butler
Its not obvious to me. Maybe take a break from Yea Forums?
Nathaniel Barnes
What exactly happened?
Noah Williams
Fuck off faggot. He clearly enjoyed it and is a fan. Imagine being an elitist over the Fate series.
Ryan Anderson
well, user, considering how this board loves to shit on anything Fate I can say he is probably the former.
Xavier Williams
The people who liked the shonen-tier writing of Fate and UBW were butthurt as fuck by HF’s dark tone, ambiguous writing and the true heroine not being a virgin, so they went ballistic on image boards (you can see brainlets of their kind do it even to this very day), spammed Rider in polls to spite Sakura and sent death threats to Nasu.
Caleb Russell
were there really death threats?
I love HF's tone.
Adam Brooks
>Someone actually recognizing the type-moon universe for its only good quality, worldbuilding >Being this much of a faggot about it Oh boy, Yea Forums sure hasn't changed.
kinda weird that he made both Tsukihime and Fate Stay Night radically different and separate worlds, why would you not want Dead Apostle Ancestors and Heroic Spirits in the same place?
Benjamin Cook
Fate's world building and concepts are the best thing about it. That's why it keeps producing spin-offs that are trash but still garner attention. The setting and technical aspects are damn appealing.
Joshua Turner
honestly though, i actually hate Sakura as a character, not because she's not a pure waifu or whatever dumb shit, but she's just not that interesting to me
Isaac Robinson
I'm the same but I'm neutral. Yeah yeah sad rape victim, and doesn't deserve to suffer, which is true. But like, those are reasons to feel bad for her. What does this chick do to make you LIKE her? I struggled to find that answer throughout my whole run of HF, and all I ended up with was a victim from start to finish
Ethan King
>or when they're just trying to fit in.
Try as hard as you like, you'll never fit in shitposter-kun.
Mason Nelson
hit the fucking nail on the head. How tf am i supposed to like a character when it seems like her only defining feature was her trauma and abuse? All that does is make me pity her. I like and pity a lot of other characters in Fate but i only just pity Sakura. Honestly, i would go as far as to say that Sakura drags down the quality of HF
Evan Adams
IF you don't plan on using a walkthrough, and you shouldn't, KT will take you 10 times longer to finish than HA. Do HA first.
Mason Long
Speaking as not-a-Sakurafag (saberchad reporting in) I like Sakura because despite all the bullshit she was out through and all the guilt she has because of Shirou, she still finds strength enough to WANT for something. If you've ever met a real life victim (which you haven't) you'd know that she is actually really bold and courageous for actually trying to take Shirou for her own.
Based. Kind of similar to how Shinji, despite being a real victim, was bold and courageous enough to try and take Sakura for himself.
Juan Gutierrez
Sakura is a well written character for what she's supposed to be, but it still doesn't work for me desu, she was a literal who for the first 2 routes and now when she has her own route, Shirou gives up the ideals he's been wrestling for the first 2 routes for a literal who (in the reader's eyes, not Shirous) and she acts as the catalyst for pure evil for most of it.
Hunter Richardson
wanted to start it first since i'm like the look of Len. how much work is it to 100% even using the flowchart?
Shinji has his own tragedies apparently. He wasn't always a dick bag but went sour because of Zouken. He good boy and dindu nuffin
Luis Baker
Those routes don't have and bearing on HF, get your linear route progression fan-canon out of your head.
Jose Torres
That's cool, I suppose. So why does she do nothing while other women walk in on her man in the other routes?
Xavier Wright
Dunno, I never 100%ed it. I played it on and off for like a year until I eventually finished it without the walkthrough. And unlike HA, KT is kind of unforgiving. There are a lot of SoL in both but in KT some scenes can become inaccessible if you don't do them early enough but keep advancing the story.
Landon Adams
SeeDon't think too hard about it. Look at Gilgamesh for example. 3 different people across the 3 routes. Nasu wasn't very consistent.
Aiden Adams
Sakura's route makes a lot more sense when you realize Nasu is a woman. That's definitely a story a woman would write.
Matthew Johnson
You are genuinely retarded if you read FSN and somehow came to that conclusion. I applaud you. I have never read a post this stupid before.
Adam Wright
to say that the previous routes don't have any bearing to HF is retarded. Shirou giving up his ideals would not hit as hard, neither would Saber Alter or the true nature of the holy grail, its like saying that original story has no bearing to the sequel.
Jayden Rivera
You do realize there's a reason these routes unlock in a certain order, right?
John Clark
because Shirou was showing that he had feelings for her and she was getting her hopes up, Rin is the same, she has a crush on him but she's not going to do anything if its clear that Shirou likes someone else
Jonathan Johnson
But Fate worldbuilding is the only thing we all agree that is pretty good
Robert Fisher
I'm using that guide and after countless hours I still don't get that hard unlock Len sex scene
what order should i watch/read if i want to get into the series?
Nathaniel Miller
>handsome and ripped >helpful and kind but still snarky >dominant when it comes to sex >can cook and do chores >has trauma You know, once i think about it, shirou does seem like the kind of man a woman would write.
>heroes of myth and legend are summoned from across time and space to participate in a class-based battle royale with the grand prize being the wish-granting Holy fucking Grail
Doomed from its inception as an eroge.
Logan Turner
good thing Nasu didn't write it and passed it on to someone else
Adrian Sanchez
I'm feeling generous user so, first Read the VN Then read the sequel Hollow Ataraxia Then read Tsukihime Then you can watch all the shit you want.
Isaiah Bennett
Takeuchi actually wrote the sex scenes in FSN and Tsukihime because Nasu didn't want to. The only one I'm sure she wrote was Flower of Thanatos in KT and that shit was mostly erotic. So, Nasu is 80% a woman
Jayden Reyes
If Nasu is a woman then Shiki and Mikiya are absolutely self inserts of him and Takeuchi
Carson Nelson
Not only is she a kind and gentle perfect housewife, but she's even selfless enough to put aside her own suffering and risk her life to protect Shirou from Zouken, and once she finally gets a real opportunity to do so, she cleans house with the entire cast of villains. Very refreshing take on what seems like a damsel in distress at first glance. >when it seems like her only defining feature was her trauma and abuse That's just you being a speedreader. There's an incredible amount of subtleties to her character to the extent only Shirou and Kotomine are comparable to her when it comes to being fleshed out. This is explicitly addressed, to the extent that her character song is all about it. She thought she didn't deserve him and that he'd be happier with someone else.
Mason Myers
the strongest characters in the Nasuverse are women, i'm starting to believe this
Mason Jenkins
This heavily conflicts with this. I was under the assumption in the second that Sakura has the strength to still want and go after Shirou despite the emotional trauma in her life. If she's letting him off with Rin and Saber because she feels she doesn't deserve him, then these posts aren't adding up
Probably. As others have posted, it's almost confirmed. A Japanese newspaper spoke of Nasu as woman too a few weeks ago. The reaction thread was fun
Ethan Flores
I'm not buying it, she's a woman in disguise and Takeuchi has fucked her a couple of times at least. That's my headcanon for life
Jaxson Young
Industry and market is pretty mysogenist though. She could have lied and used that as an excuse for any future slip ups.
Connor Stewart
do you not know how many women are in this industry?
Henry Sanchez
>Nasu: My friends (all men, naturally) kind of reflexively rejected it: “What the hell’s with this artstyle?!” I was used to shoujo manga, so my first impression was
>I was used to shoujo manga
>used to shoujo
Fuckin kek, Nasu is a woman
Kevin Gonzalez
Matters little when society is still very traditional.
Jeremiah Thomas
>So which type of leader are you? I can picture you on the front lines with a sword.
Nasu: Maybe Job Trünicht… Let’s not go there! (laughs) If it had to be between Yang and Reinhard, I think I’d be Yang. I’m not cut out to be a dictator. Instead, I guess I clean up the problems in everyone’s plans so that they can keep going the direction they want to. When a project gets tough, I’ve always gone “I’ll do the rest myself, so go on to something new and give it your all”, and that’s kind of ingrained into me, but my successors can’t develop if I keep doing this. I’m having trouble with that now. I did plan to back off from “FGO” after one year. What the actual fuck Nasu
For what it's worth, I () am a Sakurafag. isn't really true in the common route scenario, only once Shirou starts to pay attention to her in early HF and in post-FSN works like FHA. The Rain scene has her spilling her heart out about how she was conflicted between her reason telling her to give up on Shirou and stop visiting him for his own good and her feelings refusing to let her do so.
Jackson Lopez
>Nasu: I remember dropping my jaw and thinking “What’s going to happen next week?”. Since I’m a man, the fact of the heroine who had protected her chastity up until that point suddenly having sex with Akio-san—didn’t inspire much of an unpleasant feeling in me, actually.
Um, yes, definitely a woman.
Brayden Ramirez
In that posted interview he said he wasn't allowed to watch TV or Anime until highschool. Imagine the jump from that to making eroge with her Otaku friend Nasu is 90% secretly a woman
Isaac Wright
HF is just dark shonen.
Dominic Bennett
why does archer hold back on Shirou? never explained properly, but is it because he began to remember the beauty he saw in his ideal when he was Shirou's age combined with Shirou's determinism?
Jacob Gonzalez
Pretty much. His time as Alayas dog made him forget what put him there in the first place
Gabriel Jackson
Nasu simply didn't care much about writing VNs. He wanted to publish books and RPG games, but was forced to write VN for cash at the time.
Ryder Harris
He didn't write any of the shitty porn scenes. It was covered in interview. That's why none of the characters acted like themselves.
Samuel Kelly
I get that saying Nasu is a woman is a joke, but has no one ever seen him or something? Is Nasu his/her pen name? Why do Japs rarely go public even after becoming so famous?
Nathan Brooks
I'd understand if it the face wasn't revealed or something but how does the gender of the creator of such a big franchise stay hidden for more than one decade?
Leo Edwards
same way no one has seen the real pope
Jack Diaz
>gender hidden Everyone says he's a guy though.
Elijah Watson
Search for the list walkthrough and follow it.
Charles Rivera
at this point unless you are strictly referring to one of the VNs and pretending the vast majority of the franchise doesn't exist, that mobile garbage is the primary source. wiki readers are less secondary than people that only read the VNs.
Eli Perez
>hurrr durrr HF is muh grand finale >taiga said so >the 3 routes ABSOLUTELY MUST BE PLAYED IN sequence
Plus HF True isn't the last part of FSN, Last Episode is. It's now canon the same way the ero replacement scenes are.
Julian Turner
>Shirou gives up the ideals he's been wrestling for the first 2 routes He as a character was wrestling with jack fucking shit from the other routes you absolute fucking mong. Autistic faggots like you might have issues with him abandoning "muh ideals" but he starts with a blank slate each time.
Grayson Jones
>abandoning his ideals. Yet he still followed through and wound up saving everyone. I wouldn't call that "abandoning". He stumbled. He made a choice with no perfect answer. Then he decided to devote himself to Sakura.
It's also not clear whether he stays with Sakura forever or starts journeying while doing hero shit, or maybe even Sakura comes with him. It's unclear but the first two routes hammered it the fuck into your head that he's never going to give up.
tl;dr: he didn't abandon his ideal, stop saying this.
Anybody have the list with links for all of the LNs?
Ian Perry
Outside of trauna that's the majority of vn protags dude.
Brayden Cook
He isn't that snarky though.
Adrian Morris
You just know that deep in your subconscious, you tried really hard to like it so that you can follow what Yea Forums's always discussed about. That's why my post riled up all of you so much.
Brody Garcia
>larping faggot thinking he's got Yea Forums and Yea Forums all figured out My only issue with your post was how much of a pretentious douchebag you sounded like.
Adam Watson
Are you ok, user? Do you need a hug? Because the only trying hard to fit in here is you.
Logan Cooper
>says stupid shit >gets called stupid >lol i troll u Sad
Cameron Hall
>Shirou: Swords >Rin: Gems
How come Sakura doesn't have an inanimate object that she's obsessed with?
Jack Adams
what a sad sad life you must live to be this negative about people liking things.
Alexander Price
Well I guess worms aren't technically inanimate.
Samuel Long
Sakura: Penis worms.
You'd know if you actually played the game
Charles Johnson
outside of 1st and last one that's literally me.
Luke Rivera
Sakura's thing is "imaginary numbers". Pretty fitting of a girl who didn't manage to develop any interests because she was too busy getting raped and treated like a tool.
Lincoln Cruz
I really hate how harsh people are on this poor girl. Its fine because it only makes me like her more.
>but why did he just stop after fate/stay night and not introduce any new entries? because he's a fucking hack nowadays that just uses muh paralell worlds to justify not having consistent writing.
seriously, EVERY single entry into the fate/extra series takes place in it's own timeline. every. single. one.
Andrew Wilson
>Oops wrong Lancer...
Hunter Anderson
Why are all HF spergs suck lying sacks of shit?
Luke Price
Deermud was such a fucking pussy compared to Cu Chulainn.
John Ramirez
To be fair it's kind of hard to be as cool as Cu Chulainn.
Not just Cu Chulainn, but most FSN Servants. They had to put up with far more unreasonable assholes as their Masters, and yet they didn't moan like he did. >Caster had to put up with Whatshisface >Caster treated Sasaki as her disposable bouncer and once made his ribcage explode >Cu had to put up with the asshole who killed his original Master and who deliberately held him back with Command Seals >Rider had to put up with fucking Shinji Meanwhile, what did Kayneth even do other than being mildly unpleasant and expecting him to do his job?
Noah Powell
Diarmuid was just a prettyboy who got a boner from honor and flipped out when it turned out a war is actually kinda fucked up. You'd think he'd know better.
There is a side-by-side comparison image that proves you dead fucking wrong. I don't have it but I've seen it a lot. God I hope someone posts it to make you look like a fucking idiot.
David Reyes
We all have to remember that Cu Chulainn was, like, the coolest guy in Ireland. He was the Heracles of Ireland, the King Arthur of Ireland. Diarmuid probably grew up hearing stories about him and wanting to be like him.
Cu can kill that pig and Deermud at the same time.
Grayson Evans
How do you even pronounce Cu Chulainn?
Gavin Campbell
Koo Hoolahnn
Brayden Parker
OP have you read Fate/ strange Fake yet? I think you would like that as well
Christian Mitchell
Koo HULLann but the "h" is pronounced "phlegmy irish noise".
Austin Ross
You have FSF for that
Carson Lee
Presumably, he had ideas for Fate that were too radically opposed to his ideas for Tsukihime and wasn't willing to compromise on either set of ideas so he decided to Kaleidoscope it.
Anthony Turner
But HF is the best route. The one where Shirou fries his brain to save Sakura and she ends up taking care of his house until she's an old granny waiting for him to come home was the best end for that route imo.
>Incels hatebombing him over HF and Sakura back in the day made him stop giving a shit about putting effort into his stories and instead just write vapid pandering spinoffs for easy money forever. Nice revisionism.
Hudson Gutierrez
>After the release of the original game, how was the response to HF? >After I had finished writing the scenario, I had a feeling of completion and thought "I've cleared a difficult task!", but after having received far more reactions and response to it than I had imagined or expected, I felt that I was able to learn a lot from it.
>To be precise, which kinds of reactions do you remember the most, Nasu-san? >I felt that users want feel-good stories more than anything else. If you play Fate and UBW, you get to taste feel-good storytelling for roughly 40 hours. So I felt that there was no need for HF to be a feel-good story after all that, but then I learned that apparently not all users feel the same way. I reflected on this greatly, and came to the conclusion that for some works, it's okay to aim for being feel-good all the way through. I believe that if it weren't for my reflection back then, Type Moon wouldn't be the way it is today.
