The beams just disintegrated the closed space of the Armanox as shown with the Rosa fight, they don't touch the user ever. Once that closed space is gone you're out of the fight. I mean, if you want to be an ass about it, pretty much every anime fight works that way. The thing that makes this stand out is that normally you can predict who's going to win based on the surrounding plot. X can't lose here, but Y is clearly stronger, so it's obviously going to be a tie. X and Y are in at their climatic battle, and Y is the villain so it's time for Y to feel the power of friendship. There was the flashback, X is dead for sure. Etc.

In this episode, I could see the plot continuing with either Anna or Shingetsu as the survivor. Do you know Schrodinger's cat? It posits that two possibilities can exist simultaneously, until definite observation rules one possibility out. It felt like we, as viewers, were the scientists looking in on the cat of the Anna/Shingetsu conflict.

The only way that this show could have been remotely good was if it handled Anna's redemption well. The moment that I saw the end of the previous episode (in which she snuck into the basement in order to get da supa stone), all hope was lost. I really wish that this series handled itself better; it never really had a strong direction or ultimate goal for its conflicting characters in the first place, but the way it treated its primary antagonist is probably the worst thing about it.

I think I got a lot a bunch of (You)s asking the wrong question initially. It really just comes down to plot progression and arrangement. Anna's fight using the super stone is a great plot point, but I think that it needed to come a lot earlier in the series. With this sort of fight out of the way, it clears the floor for the emergence of the true final boss and (if it hadn't already been introduced) the introduction of a lot of questions pertaining to Granbelm and why Anna might be so invested in her vendetta against ERNESTAAAAA. It's not like it wasn't already explained in backstories anyway; what's throwing away a chunk of an episode right after Anna's big showdown just to catch everyone up?

Pacing is one of the worst aspects of this show. By having Anna float around being ineffectual all series long, it basically just turned her into a joke character only made relevant by a macguffin she grabs from her basement way too late in the series. She might as well have done that early on and then all of her backstory could have been compressed into a single shot instead of being arbitrarily broken up throughout the series. If anything, Anna could have just been a really strong prologue to the rest of the plot; and if her revenge arc were wrapped up quickly, it would still hold open the possibility for Anna to develop into a more complete character down the line.

Assuming my understanding is correct the power ups are because 2 things, magiconis and desire/imegi. Mangetsu power up first occurred when strings wrapped around a soul and following this scene we see her eyes change, nenenee powered up due to change of heart and desire which was reflected via her armonox, anna power up came via the larger stone and also had the exact same frame sequence of strings wrapping around a soul like essence which lead to a massive change in power.

Because Shingetsu was trying to avoid doing anything about it as she didn't want to make things even worse for Anna. Exactly like the post you quoted and that scene in the show said.

Personally, my problem with anime is that more often than not I find shows that I like 90% of their content but I hate the other 10% with a passion and that has burned me out over time. It's like the hacks writing Chinese cartoons can't never get it totally right and that drives me crazy sometimes.

The scene could have been a lot more emotional like it was towards the end, but instead most of the time was spent on Anna shouting and pulling angry faces, which was already old as it's been done several times before, thus ruining any serious impact.
