It probably has to be used in key locations like the head or the heart to fully utilize it or atleast go deep enough into the body to effectively use the poison, a normal blade cut might not cut it. Otherwise they would have used it with normal blades. It would also probably need a whole other way of swordfighting which focuses on thrusting instead of slashing which every teacher uses so that would mean that there is no one besides shinobu to teach them. And even if a poisoned blade cuts into the demon they could probably just cut away the flesh which was cut to stop the poison. Which means that you would have 2 distinct blade types, the traditional one and the one made for thrusting with poison

But the manga is already translated.

Most people who join the organization can chop off demon heads with Nichirin Blades just fine, which is why poison users like Shinobu are so rare. The few demons that are too strong to have their heads chopped off by non-pillars are also strong enough to resist any poison you can throw at them. Poison has never killed a member of the Twelve Demon Moons in the story... Besides one of them, but in their case the method was super unconventional and came at a heavy cost.

Well is was a semi useless "powerup" in the end. Even with the help of his sister he wasn't able to win but it helped him to survive long enough till Autismioka could rescue them.
I don't say these aren't typical shonentropes we saw but it's better than in most other shonenseries imo.

I've argued this before, you don't set up or foreshadow a major plot point in the same episode it gets revealed in. It's straight up bad storytelling and poor planning in a series that's supposed to have a long narrative, told over multiple story arcs. You have to build up that important plot point over the course of the series otherwise it's ham-fisted, loses impact and makes the author look like they came up with it last minute.
