You know, when I come into a Jojo thread there's a lot that crosses my mind. The legacy of the greatest shounen ever written. I mean consider that for a minute. This amazingly well written and extremely complex piece of literature has been going on for several decades now and is still going. Not only that but it is still popular, still gaining new fans and keeping old ones happily around.

Jojo is not just a manga, its not just genre deconstructing, its not just one of the greatest stories ever told. It is proof that man can achieve greatness in all its meanings. The story we have been discussing, months on end, years on end, it is evidence of a true understanding of nuanced and complex themes. A culture within itself.

So when I come into a Jojo thread I feel like im not only here with my fellow Jobros. I am here with everyone else, experiencing the magic that is Jojo. Even the poor and misguided who either haven't read it or consider it sub-par are here with us. Giving attention and time to a story that is older then most of us here today.

I see great discussion day after day. New points being brought up and old ones being held high for the board to see. It was through years of dedicated posting that these threads have gotten to this point. Intense and amazing discussion backed by some of the most quality memes found on the internet. And its all thanks to the Jobros who have kept it all going.

So when I go into Jojo thread a few things cross my mind, but the one thing that always reigns true is how great it is to be a Jobro , to be apart of a legacy decades old that continues to hold its own with strength, intelligence and grace. That's what it means to be a Jobro

It's not my favorite, but I think that objectively speaking part 2 is. It has actual character growth, and interaction with the villains throughout multiple parts, they aren't simply relegated to the end like some meaningless final boss. Also I really like how each episode has a reason, whatever that may be, unlike p3/5/6's villain of the week which served no growth or purpose whatsoever, it just served to stall.

For me it's 7 > 2 > 8 > 1 > 3 > 4 > 5 > 6

I don't want to sound like a broken record putting SBR in first place, but it really is just a damn good read
2 was OK in manga form, but the anime really killed it. Excellent music, style and voice acting. Every episode carried weight and there were no large filler portions
Jojolion is just a pretty solid part, the girls are nice and I think Gappy is a good protagonist
1, 3, 4 and 5 are all fine
6 is the only part I have problems with. Felt pretty bogged down around the middle f the story. Real shame because I think it started out exceptionally well

I didn't like a single character in Part 4, I didn't care for the setting, I disliked the glacial pace of the story, I didn't like the visuals and it spent too much time on side characters I didn't care about (who would ultimately not really be relevant) instead of the main cast I was supposed to care about. Okuyasu did jack shit after the first half dozen episodes, he didn't grow, he barely even used his stand, he was just an idiot for the entire part. I couldn't stand Koichi but at least he got some half decent development. Most of the characters were insanely annoying. The only one I liked was Jotaro and he's not even from that storyline originally.

Part 3 was not without its faults either. It also took a bit too long to get where it was going and had its share of filler but at least with every episode the crew was making progress. They were getting closer to Dio geographically speaking at least. Even when they were caught up in some dumb throwaway fight they were always getting one step closer after it all, and that kept me going. It helped that the end payoff was actually worth it. By the end of it, I'd actually felt like I'd been on a journey and made some friends and lost some along the way. When Last Train Home plays and I think about the ones who didn't make it. In Part 4 the first few episodes were interesting, then fuck-all happened for about 15, Kira gets introduced and it's back to fuck-all. The final arc was just contrived, and the characters had to act like total morons for the plot to move forward. Mistaking Josuke's voice for the wind? Come on.

Stuff like this happened every fucking episode and it seriously made me consider if the whole cast was retarded or what. I recently finished rewatching the entirety of Jojo (finished four days ago, actually) so everything is pretty fresh to me.
P4 only had Okuyasu being oblivious, P3 had everyone.

I have a morning ritual that I need to share. I call it "the pillar man". First I crouch down in the shower in the classic "naked pillar man hibernated through time" pose. With my eyes closed I pose there for a minute, visualizing either ACDC or Kars and I start to hum the Pillar men theme. Then I slowly unfreeze to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me to proceed through my day as an emotionless, superior being, ancient aztec man. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my pillar man leg. It ruins the fantasy. I found tonight that it is more successful to progressively humm it louder as you perform the ritual.

I know one would normally think this is cringe, but on the contrary. Some years ago in college I had a 70 y/o professor who was in amazing physical shape, travelled to 65+ countries and kept doing it, who was incredibly cultured and smart. He always claimed that the reason to his health was waking up with a ritual of his, where he'd stand up, inhale, and yell with all his might to really open his lungs and wake his body, all this while quickly stretching his arms, he said he did it as if his chest had exploded. He actually encouraged us to find a ritual that would work for us and help us overcome any problem the day could bring us, to be ready both mentally and physically, so yeah. This user is doing everything right.
