I'd like to be firmly in the 'AiFure isn't ending, fuck off conspiracy nuts' camp, but this doesn't bode well as it indicates that the fourth track was added in haste as if somebody realized that there wasn't going to be another album for it to go on. I'm still of mind that they won't cancel AiFure early because fuck them if they cancel Wakaba and Momone's arcs, but that's not a positive addition to the evidence pool.

Aikatsu Friends - Kagayaki no Jewel is definitely ending, they also have a page for the second OST release slated for September 11th and that never releases until a season is ending. However, from the little info we've seen of Aikatsu On Parade, it looks like it might be the Akarigen to Aifure's OG, meaning it's still technically the same show, just another season. The CD description you mentioned is either a fuckup or since different seasons and series of Aikatsu are made without breaks and producing episodes and merch takes months, thus it's impossible that they changed the supposed tracklist at the last minute.

As long as the AkariFuregen incorporates Wakaba's and Momone's (though her arc already seems to be dead since I'm pretty sure we've seen her a grand total of fucking once since the season started) arcs into it I'll be content.

I'm going to assume that Kagayaki no Jewel was actually planned ahead for once, unlike Hoshi no Tsubasa where the anime staff didn't know if it would get a second year until maybe halfway into the first season, hence the I Believe cameo during s1. But then something unplanned happened after all, and that was cutting s2 short, like what happened with OGkatsu s4.

I watched the first episode of aikatsu and I'm not sure if I'm going to like this. Ichigo and Aoi are cute but the concert was pure shit but ichigo's audition was less offensive. Does the CGI improve as the series goes on or is it always around that level? And the outfit card things just seem like a moneymaking scheme at the expense of the show's quality.
At least there's no 3dpd segments or annoying mascot characters, right?

It's not hard to watch long shows if you pace yourself. Just a couple episodes a day and you can finish anything in a few months. I watched through all three seasons of Pretty Rhythm and then all of Pripara in about 4 months of casual watching. Some days I'd be in the mood to watch more and I might go through ten episodes, other times I might go several days without watching anything. The key is to be consistent and not take huge breaks for weeks where you don't watch anything.

Sheep got me into Aikatsu in the first place. I had made a couple of attempts to watch it previously since it came between two other shows I watched, but one was a random Akarigen episode, I don't have any clue which one or what was going on but it didn't really grip me, then again apparently during S4 selection, but again I had no idea what was going on. On my third attempt I saw a sheep, made a joke about Aikatsu being set in New Zealand only to be told it belonged to a character from New Zealand, so I ended up watching it for her and had an easier time getting into it due to it being near the beginning of a new arc. I ended up getting invested in her and getting pissed off whenever Elza made her cry, something that became increasingly more common as the season went on yet she refused to stop going back to her and all the battered wife syndrome shit that went with it. Stars S2 was quite the ride.

I'm on episode 7 now and I'm enjoying it a lot. I disliked the first concert due to the combination of not liking mizuki's design + not liking the song + the CGI + high expectations for the "top idol." But the other characters are cute even with the low quality CGI, the songs & dances are pleasant, and the rest of the show is entertaining. And fortunately the merchandise isn't nearly as bothersome as I worried it might be (at least so far).
There's one thing I didn't catch. Aoi said she wanted to be an idol since she was a child, but she's transferring in late along with Ichigo. Was she intentionally waiting until she could convince her friend before applying or did it just work out that way?

When Aoi brought it up in the first episode she said they were holding entrance auditions, so presumably she just couldn't apply before then. This isn't exactly consistent with how some things work out much later down the line, but hey, it was new and starting the show in the middle of the school year is a little awkward.

Aoi is the youngest daughter of a family of celebrities, she could have lived a life full of fame and gotten a free pass but instead she decided to live modestly and work her way up on her own, that's why she waited for Ichigo.
Spoiler: you can actually see her mother on the first couple of episodes, keep your eyes open you don't know when you might see her!

It seems even if it's in the Aifure universe, it's getting completely retooled. For starters, Lucky is only one person. Dropping the forced duos angle could help a lot. And with everyone back, they can't go wrong.

I'm so happy seeing all my girls again. For some reason even though this was the most likely scenario people were discussing, I wasn't too hyped by it, but actually seeing the trailer makes me super happy. My one worry is I tend to not care much for crossovers for other series since, like an user said early, its typically just cheap fan service, so I do hope there's some more structure to it. But I can't imagine being disappointed by seeing all my favorite girls again (especially the Stars girls while not being brought down by all the shitty Stars plot) and still getting to see the wonderful aifure girls.

You should, contrary to what some people want you to believe, its great.

I hope this can bring us together again and stop all the fighting.

I'm happy about the timeslot switch, I've always had to stay up until 3AM to watch Aikatsu every week so not having to stay up so late one night of the week will be nice.

I've got OGS1 queued up ready to start tomorrow. Don't know how many episodes I'll be able to get through in a day because reading subs drains my energy, but we'll see.
