If I understand correctly, that means the act of summoning is the same not matter what comes out of it. But the summons are obviously different. Case in point, when the fight started, Anna summoned a bunch of familiars and Shingetsu didn't look surprised (). But when Anna summoned an spirit at the end, Shingetsu freaked out for a little moment. She definitely wasn't expecting Anna to be able to do that.

It's not just that. They're different in nature. Familiars are weak and can be summoned in numbers. Spirits are more powerful and you can't summon more than once as it takes a great deal of concentration and magical power, as Anna herself explained this episode.
