On the day of the final round Kanade, Shouko and Takimoto ran into Eugene who praised them for making it as far as they have while offering Kanade a picture of a statue of Diana housed at the Met he took to give her a little more inspiration before telling Kanade that she could count herself among the artists who have sought to capture Diana's character much to her delight.
At the theater the three of them then ran into Abby and two of her other prospective scholarship recipients: a Portuguese girl named Brenda and an American named Evelyn and Evelyn in particular seemed to be trying to intimidate Kanade just a bit. Takimoto went off with Abby while Kanade was happy that Abby noticed the hard work she put in for the last round. Alone with Abby, Takimoto called her out for playing on Kanade's own feelings while Abby insisted she wasn't trying to make it into any sort of competition and that as older dancers they had a responsibility to find and raise the next generation.
As everyone arrived to watch, Shouko gave Kanade a last bit of support noting that she seemed feverish. Kanade was completely fired up as she stepped out on stage for the biggest performance of her life.
