Perhaps stretch that to 15 if they are also traveling in the morning and evening, and the horses are galloping some of the way. It's really hard to really say anything about the purpose of the characters when we don't really know what will happen but as for now most of them have no agency and are irrelevant in the large scheme of things ever since this turned into a battle of idelogies between Eren and Zeke with Reiner representing the enemy side.
Most characters are still around just because of their main character status, and it's more likely that Isayama is now looking for ways to give them something to do rather than having some master plan for every single one of them. AMJC for instance have spent all the post-timeskip just reacting to what Eren does and providing 3DMG support. Armin will clearly get something to do since he is the fucking CT but I wouldn't expect much for the other characters.
