The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these emotions, to realize that they're not just moving - they say something deep about LOVE. As a consequence, people who dislike Madohomu truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the sadness in Homura’s voice when she tells Madoka, "I suppose one day you will be my enemy too. It's fine, I don't care. I'll keep wishing for a world where you can be happy." which itself is a cryptic reference to the conflicting emotions she feels at wanting her to be both happy and free but not seeing any way for her to have one without losing the other.
