The most modern JoJo ironically has the kind of artwork I'd think of when I think of the words "classic manga". Part 8 is especially beautiful in black and white. Part 8's artwork is leagues above the rest of JJBA's artwork. Color has nothing to do with that.

Parts 7 and 8 are so much better than everything that came before them. It's a completely different feeling and I'm really glad these exist.

personally i think coloring over arakis ink is an insult to his artwork. There's a shiny, contrast heavy quality to his style that is lost with the fan colorings. That said, I did read a couple volumes in color

jjca is really good sometimes but a lot of the time they fuck up the linework and the mood. one of the biggest offenders in my opinion is speed kings reveal. in b&w the background is completely black, which gives a really ominous feeling. jjca just makes the background dark blue.

The Speedwagon theory exists for a couple reasons. Firstly Rock Humans live far longer and age much slower than humans, so for Satoru to look 89 he’d need to actually be a hell of a lot older, alive during SBR at the very least. Second is that the Speedwagon Foumdation are a pharmaceutical company, and the video of Wu that Mitsuba and Yasuho watched was directed towards sponsors or shareholders of some kind, they’re getting funding for Rokakaka research from someone big and powerful. Then there’s the minor, seemingly coincidental stuff like his outfit, being the same age as Speedwagon when he died etc.

He said he’d testify in Josuke’s defense, and legal stuff takes forever to happen. The court hearing probably wouldn’t happen until after the harvest which is why Josuke is on the run instead of handing himself in despite being innocent, it’ll take too long. I’m sure Tooru is plotting something fucky but I doubt he’s responsible for Josuke being a wanted criminal. Unless he lied to the cops, which could very well have happened.

I like that a random civilian death in this series is actually have consequences for the characters. Usually the characters get away with the fuckiest shit because everyone happened to be looking the other way at the time, but this time there was no hiding the fact that a man fucking died when Josuke touched him. There were countless witnesses. JoJolion has been good at subverting expectations (like actually, not the meme way) and has flipped so many cliches from earlier in the series on their heads that I’m pretty much certain Araki is intentionally rusing us with certain plot points and specifically not mentioning certain things or characters for long periods of time to make us think they were forgotten only to reveal they were actually vitally important all along. I’m fucking loving JoJolion so god damn much bros.

Jobin is cool because you understand entirely why he reached his conclusions. I feel the same way of Pucci, even if you don;t agree with them you empathize with how they they reached their conclusions and went off the deep end. He's charismatic with his daddy-brother face as well as his business mod with Dolomite, Araki really got Jobin to demonstrate both sides. Tsurugi adds another layer to Jobin, his actions and also reaffirming his conclusions about life.
The tagline in pic related also sums up well how quickly Jobin provides a contrast to everyone else in his family and their own goals towards "happiness".

Joshu is entertaining because he's relatable in a sense that we all know someone like him. His heart is in the right place and he genuinely cares for his family, Him being defensive over his family with Gappy, Damo and Kaato are all the little trains of the younger brother really trying his hardest in his own backwards way. He just acts like a retarded spoiled teen who's just growing out of that phrase.

Yes, she’s still in the bio pages at the beginning of every tankobon and even got moved over next to Kira and Holly a few books ago. Why she hasn’t appeared in ages I don’t know, but moving her right next to Kira and Holly and showing their relationships at the beginning of an arc based heavily around Holly seems like Araki is trying to make sure we don’t forget her because he’s got something planned for her.

This part isn't really focused on the main characters. Tsurugi and Jobin have way more characterization than Josuke already, and we haven't even gotten to their main fight yet. In a way, you could see Jobin as the protagonist.

He hasn't really gotten any downtime recently. Every chapter he's either chasing somebody or getting chased, or he's not there at all. At this point, most of Josuke's characterization comes from the way he fights. I think Josuke works as a blank slate character though, because of what he represents. That, and the fact that his personality is a mix of Kira's and Josefumi's does actually give him some depth.

I see great discussion day after day. New points being brought up and old ones being held high for the board to see. It was through years of dedicated posting that these threads have gotten to this point. Intense and amazing discussion backed by some of the most quality memes found on the internet. And its all thanks to the Jobros who have kept it all going.

So I recently started reading the Jojo manga, and I have a question. Is Jojolion any good? I already had expectations for the other parts because of my friends and stuff I heard on Yea Forums. I already knew that everyone hates parts 5 and 6 when I first started reading them, and I knew that Steel Ball Run was supposedly Araki's magnum opus, but I never hear anyone talk about Jojolion. Is it good so far? Bad? Mediocre?

The only problem is that the story meanders around a lot with no clear direction after the initial mystery is solved. well yes, linework made specifically for coloring is different from what is meant to look good colorless, in the same vein, the values of a scene thats planned to be colored will be different than a higher contrast black or white page, even with midtones you cannot plan for the type of gradation and plane changes that proper color brings, also the colors being different is done intentionally to enhance the mood of the scene and bring focus to the important parts, if you dont trust me read the colored manga, where they recolor the araki colored pages, which makes them look better than usual thanks to the higher contrast and nicer shading

I'll concede that it's more focused than half the parts with the whole rokakaka angle, and it probably mostly has to do with this being the first time I'm reading a JoJo part slowly as it comes out. My main gripe was that for such a long time the bad guys were Damo's group who were also revealed to be the reason behind Josuke's existence, which by itself took a long ass time for the story to get to, only to be superseded in the plot by the hospital group. So now there are three groups fighting each other over the fruit for their own reasons but no interesting personal connections to each other, unlike Damo's group who was connected intimately with Josuke and Jobin. But then again, I'm realizing as I type this that this can apply to most hero-villain relationships before the final fights in JoJo outside of Part 1 so I guess you're right. When Part 8 ends and I view it as a whole, I'd probably have little complaints about the story progression in comparison to the other parts as long as the ending is satisfying.

I just saw it as Stone Free without the punch ghost

The main difference I've noticed is that it seems to have a more limited and better defined "quantity" to it. Stone Free just unwound some arbitrary amount and the level of "JOLYNE YOU MADMAN YOU'RE AT 99% UNRAVELING YOU'RE GONNA DIE" seemed more related to how many holes Araki felt like drawing in her skin. With Doggystyle, there seems to be a better relationship between "here's X length of ribbon" and "that cost me X much of my hand."
They've got the absolutely sick stand design aspect in common though holy shit im usually neutral to the colored scans but they murdered my boy on this one
