I was encouraged to continue reading the VN after watching quarter of it and I ended up finishing reading the route before I capped off watching the end of the anime. I then do the same thing with HF. Everything else is pretty much either good, meh or utter trash. But FSN VN will stay with you forever. Trust me.

Fate/hollow ataraxia would be almost impossible to animate normally. The greater bulk of it is just a series of disconnected events around the city. Most of the scenes would have no relevance to the next. One moment Shirou's cleaning Rin's house, the next he's stalking Fuji-nee with Caster.

F/GO hasn't been "just cashgrab" since the fifth singularity.

The game had problems in launch because of the inexperience in general and word limits. Around America that changed. Events are just fundisks, so you're not supposed to take seriously as an IF scenario.

The main story does suffered first because they needed to showcase the gacha characters and sometimes it was odd fitting in the chapters aside of the main helper I guess. The writing became tight when they drop the word limit, plus Nasu wrote Camelot, Babylonia and Solomon. Part 2 does away with most fanservice and reduces the numbers of Servants, letting the writers of the chapters choose their cast instead of shoving it to them. Now the Lostbelts are still not as popular as the trio of the conclusion of part 1 but is highly anti fanservice when your self insert goes around destroying million of innocent lives to save their timeline and they cut all the nonsense of some generic female Servant lusting after Guda in the chapters. The romance focus is mostly centered on the rival Masters (not with Guda but other characters).

I am right know, I watched Zero and UBW years ago.
But some months ago, I decided to do a reset. I finished the 3 vns routes, now I'm playing Hollow Ataraxia. After this, I will rewatch Zero and UBW, then HFs movie.
Then I will be done.
Last year I watched Apocrypha. I am also playing Fgo, just for the story, Camelot and Babylonia to be exact.
And when I got time I will play extra.

Oh yeah, some weeks ago I finished reading the manga of kaleid and Shirou arc was awesome. It's been a amazing ride.

Fate seems pretty underrated. I like that route the best, since it works pretty well and has some of the best scenes. Not only the bridge one, but also the one under the church. The epilogue and ending is also most impactful with maybe only true HF ending being compareable maybe mind of steel too.

It generally stems from being underdeveloped in the awful adaptations, so people never get the chance to actually understand him or just get a very poor innitial impression of him from Fate route, which they then never recover from as it takes time and proper context/understanding to properly comprehend his actions and to get a taste for him. I'm not every trying to say he's that deep or complicated, it's just that he's intentionally make to look a certain way, which then gets deconstructed.

There aren't that many more threads you could apply "like a clockwork" as much as fate ones, apart from Lucky Star.
