Hunter Exam is the pleb filter user, it's a super generic introductory exam arc that starts out incredibly uninteresting and then gradually settles into the style of the series.

I never understood what people enjoy in the last arc of the anime, it's really long, and mostly consists of people standing around at a fucking castle in the middle of nowhere, there were some great moments, but soo much of characters just standing around and nothing happening, maybe it's because of the ending and what gon does? Togashi's trying too hard to make another Chimera Ant arc that he'll wind up making an arc worse than Greed Island or Heaven's Arena.

Hisoka vs Chrollo and The Banquet already elevate this arc to top 3. And it's fine if some people don't like the Succession War but at least Togashi is trying something fresh and is not catering to the lowest coming denominator like other WSJ mangakas do. That's pretty based in my book.

Togashi shifts his style completely depending on what he wants to express visaully. Sometimes it's more detailed and 'realistic', sometimes minimalistic, sometimes impressionistic

Because in comparasing to HxH, YYH feels more formulatic in many ways, espesially by the end of the manga you can see that he tried to do something more ambiguous and interesting, he wanted to deconstruct characters with Three Kings Saga, but wasn't allowed by Jump. He talked about it in the last volume of YYH. We respect YYH as a fundament to HxH and overall great work, but it's not even close to what HxH is.
