I use to watch this show relentlessly in high school but never finished the series Did Ranma and Akane finally get married ?
Ranma 1/2

the ending was fucking trash and the only bad part about an otherwise great series
Nope
Yea recently.

Fans created a semi big event, a lot of fan work were created at that time.
It was in the past 6 months I think, can't find it back.
They wanted to marry in the end of the manga but than suddenly not. The ending was really stupid.
I never get the hate against the ending. It ended as it should for a slapstick comedy. Ranma and Akane already confess and learn to be honest with each other. They're together as a couple. The wedding is just a matter of time and formality.
poor Shampoo, she was always the best girl
well, I never really saw it as that kind of slapstick
Shampoo was the fucking best. Good taste.
I mean, the humor and gags are very like Tom and Jerry. Remember how many times Akane sends Ranma flying?
And yeah, Shampoo is best girl. I remember her every time I see a chinese kungfu girl.
Yeah maybe you're right, it's just so long ago and a younger me probably only wanted a better closer.
>fans created
Not canon, not official, doesn't matter.
Shampoo did nothing but abuse Mousse, try to kill Akane and brainwash Ranma so she could ride his girl dick. She's worst girl by a considerable margin and that's a fact.
When does this get good? As in I should drop it if I'm not enjoying it by [chapter number].
>abuse Mousse
>try to kill Akane
>brainwash Ranma
Now I remember why she's the best girl. Thanks
It's the same gag comedy manga stretched with more characters added per volume and each one of them has his own running gag.
If you are expecting romantic progression, there won't be.
Except in the last two volumes, but still end up not being fulfilling because it's ruined by another gag scene.
It's the same as Rinne if you watched it.
It doesn't mean it's a bad manga, it's a comedy manga and not story focused one.
That's why she is best girl. Also dat purple hair.
I know, right? Shampoo had an actual viciousness to her. Best girl. Knew what she wanted and would do anything to get it.
and she's not as tsundere as Akane, thanks for reminding me why I loved her the most
Rinne is more serious actually. In Ranma characters can casually conjure a big hammer out of thin air to beat people up.
The music of this show was great.
>only bad part
Let's not kid ourselves, Rumiko was running out of ideas for her cash cow, and you know it.
It really was.
Nope. Takahashi decided that she'd rather have the wedding be torn apart (and have Ranma abandon Akane at the altar for a cask of Nanniichuan) than let them get hitched, even though she'd managed to get her designated love interest actually pushed through as the main girl, unlike in Urusei Yatsura.
Did anyone else out there start in this series seeing Ranma/Akane as the obvious choice, dabbling in Ranma/Other Girls out of curiosity, then genuinely coming to prefer non-Akane couples after getting more familiar with the series?
It's not so surprising. Akane just goes on an on beating ranma for no good reason. She's jealous on a hysterical level but she always lashes out on ranma even when she fully knows he's innocent. At least the other girls try to be protective of ranma and try to take out the competition instead.
Except Kodachi who's more inclined to rape ranma than anything else. But nobody cares about Kodachi.
UKYOCHADS RISE UP!!!
what does ranma sees in akane anyway?
I slightly prefer Shampoo, but Ukyo is still Great Girl, and better than Akane.
Realistically...? I legitimately don't know. I guess it's one part that she was the first girl he met under normal circumstances, one part the fact he lives with her and so he's the most accustomed to her, and one part the whole "she doesn't try to push Ranma to marry her right now, whilst the other girls do".
Really, I can't see why he finds her appealing, especially given how she sabotages herself.
Trope wise, it's basically First Girl Wins, plus Rumiko has a type for victorious female protagonists: Tsundere Girl Next Door.
That's why Urusei Yatsura never had a real ending; the fans wanted Ataru/Lum to win but Takahashi hated Lum because she wanted Ataru/Shinobu to win and she was pissed that people preferred the hot, sexually uninhibited and openly affectionate cute alien girl, so she refused to let her win out of spite.
Nothing, which is why anyone who thinks they got married sometime later after the botched wedding are deluding themselves.
I HAVE A MIGHTY NEED
Nah, 2nd worst. Kodachi exists.
